***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Thanks for all the photos DisBug. This Polish girl is very disappointed that Disney looks to be serving Mrs. T's Pierogie's. I know the real thing are hard work 'cause I make them every Easter, but come on. If the thought is to try the cuisine of the world, shouldn't every "land" want to put their best food forward?

when do they start booking these ? I have not even seen the full line up yet

We are all still waiting for the line up to come out. Maybe in a couple weeks IF we are lucky. ( I am hoping for a surprise and it comes out quicker but it never happens ) The events start booking Aug. 11 at 7 am EST!

Sounds nice. Thanks!

Hi Jeanne!

It was nice when we attended a special DDE Valentine's Dinner there, Feb 14, 2007. Of course it was a beautifully decorated venue, baby grand in the corner with a combo that evening, all the women received a red rose and we received either a parcel of different Guerlain perfumes or a bottle of Iron Horse Sparkling Wine. I get the events confused (and not because of the bubbly!) :goodvibes

Here's a photo of a special visitor at the dinner ... he was in the aquarium tank though ;) http://www.flickr.com/photos/90066387@N00/392235820/in/set-72157594539330378/
Remember when DDE used to sponsor special dining events, sent us quarterly brochures and made the DDE card holders feel special? Now we automatically get to pay 18% gratuity, instead of the 20% we used to pay to good waitstaff? No, I'm not disappointed in the program !

It would be nice if they did a EE or a Signature Dinner in the Seas Salon during the F&WF. I'm sure Ken could come up with some great Pinot Noirs for a salmon dish.:fish:

I just received my Robert Irvine July Newsletter, and in it he states that he just finalized the plans to be back at the Epcot F&W Festival. He says sometime in October for 3 days. No specific dates. He said he will be doing an Odyssey Kitchen Conversation, a demo, a couple of book signings and he will showcase his food at one of the Party for the Senses!

WOW! Thanks for the info! :cool1:

Good point, LaurenNJ! I wonder if they ever tried making them from scratch or have they served Mrs. T's every year? What kind of constraints are put in place because of limited kitchen space for all of they dishes served around the World Showcase? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

Pictures are deceiving, Lauren. This Polish boy was lucky enough to attend last year's F&W Festival and was able to sample the pierogis at the Polish food booth. Both DW and I found them to be very tasty indeed. IMHO, they did not at all taste "store bought" or mass produced - they were flavorful and quite delicious (even went back for seconds...and thirds :) )

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked and answered, but can you use the DDE card for either the booths or the signature dining events?

Thanks.

unfortunately no for both ! !

Just thinking, does anyone know how we would find out the guest chefs at the PFTS before hand? I know that they have it in the booklet you receive before you enter, but I never saw anything before hand?

Example, when I saw that Robert Irvine is doing one - how do you know which one he will be at?

Thanks for any input. :goodvibes

We have found that if you look at the special events that are happening the week before the PFTS you are going to, those are the chefs you see at PFTS. It's not always true but a lot of the time it is. So until they release info on the events you really don't have much of a hint at who will be there unless you have info direct from the person like the Robert Irvine news.

Thanks for the heads up my wife and I went for the FWF in 2004 and just kind of muddled our way through until this year i didn't even know about all the other offerings i can't wait!!!!

Good tip. Robert Irvine didn't say what dates. But, I guess when the event information finally comes out I would look to see when he is doing the other events. Makes sense. Thanks for your help.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one disappointed in Collette Peter's Sweet Sundays. I flew my mom down special for that event and we were beyond disappointed. I didn't attend the free event but now I'm sad we didn't. Definately not worth the expense.

We went to that one too and were also disappointed. The cookies were especially disappointing.

I don't suppose anybody else got a "stunt cookie"

The lower cookie (the yellow one) is the one she was making - but the other cookie is just a regular old food court white chocolate chip cookie with icing glopped on it.

I asked about the cookie - it was obviously NOT the one she was making - and was told they were trying to serve "a variety."

So why are me and my mother the only ones with this particular cookie? Not that the others were that good, but at least it's the cookie that was demonstrated.

Sounds like we won't try a "Sweet Sundays" this year! If Colette Peters can't get it right.... :confused3

I don't think it was Colette's fault, but whoever was managing the event.

My guess is that they had other cookies available, but they thought the icing was too wet. When we were finally brought the correct cookies, they were dripping. Of course, you can tell from the photo that the stunt cookie was dripping too.

The cakes were quite good, and her free demo the next day was AWESOME.

And I think we will look at any free demos from whatever chef does the SS the week that we are there. If they even offer it the first weekend, which might not happen, anyway! I cannot believe we are going to be there the first weekend (and then into Wednesday evening) this year. Poor vacation planning on our part, but completely unavoidable. It was that week or none... and that was not an option!

No stunt cookie for us (more like ROCK cookies) we got a candy shape and this "gift" shape

The chocolate cake was good, but for some reason the Disney chef helpers decided to put extra stuff on it, Collette had no idea why they did that.

Did anyone else accidentally sample the glob of butter that was next to a piece of cake? I still don't understand why that was there...
