***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Nikki, if you follow the link in my signature to the 2007 food reviews from October, you will find on the very first thread post links to reviews of Party for the Senses, as well as Food & Wine pairings at Le Cellier and Rose and Crown.

Just follow the links.

If you look for BriarRosie on this thread, she also did a review of her F&W events from 2007 - the link to the Larded and Loaded Tour (2007) is in her signature as well.

PFTS is great because it's a sampling of wonderful food and alcohol for two and a half hours - as much as you can put away for the most part. I'm not mentioning any names but some people turn into bottomless pits at this event. :rolleyes1 And it's more upscale and creative offerings than you would find by just roaming around the world showcase.

We also like the pairings that are offered at different world showcase restaurants during the week. You typically get a three-course meal with wine pairings - this has been a very affordable option over the years, but I'm sure that's going to change (someone at WDW will catch on sooner or later and jack up the price some more).

There are others here who have tons more F&W experience than I do, and I'm sure they will be happy to offer their suggestions when they have a chance. :goodvibes

Bookings start on 8/11/08 at 7am!!!

On the front page, thanks PatriciaH.

I wouldn't have a problem if they eliminated the Cirque thing altogether. I'm there for the food. And when they start up they're so loud we can't talk about the food.

I'm with you. I find the almost anorexic-skinny Cirque performers a strange punctuation to the massive feed going on around them. Plus, the guy on the unicycle is rather dangerous to pedestrians.

I'm with you. I kept eating while Cirque was performing last year and I felt like I was being really rude but I wasn't there to watch them ... I wanted to feed my face and talk about the food, too. :lmao:

Thanks PatriciaH :cool1: for the date and time bookings start:thumbsup2 . I went back and looked at the first page and there it was the best place to hide things right in front of us :rotfl2:

I don't mind if Cirque goes also BUT when they are on is one of the few times the cheese display doesn't have a line! :rotfl:

Thanks for the undate PatriciaH.

Thanks Patricia!!!!

Date is marked in my calendar.

Now let's hope Disney comes out with the details soon. :)

Thanks, Brenda! I remember reading your report awhile back. I also looked at Briar's (not sure if I ever finished though). I'll have to take a look at both again. I saw something about events with celeb chefs written up somewhere. Do you know anything about that?

My linked report (Larded and Loaded) has an index of direct links on the first post so you can make a beeline to the food porn. :) Some of the photos are blurry, but you can get a good idea of what is offered at PFTS.

And we had a list of the events last year, only slightly over a week before we could book the events. The press releases that are currently out give a generalization of celebrity chefs that might be there, pending schedule conflicts. I think I've had at least one schedule change each year. And I seem to get that famous chef, "TBA", quite frequently.

Lori I just read through your whole report...it was awesome. Beside being funny and charming you are quite informative! It really hyelped me get a good idea of some events I hope to do this year plus have a laugh or two.

Alright, friends - I'm taking mom to PFTS on Nov 1 (our first night and only Sat there) if I can get two tickets. Thanks for the recommendations!

What is the typical attire for this event? I really like to dress for my dining experience but know that's out of place at WDW usually...

I wore a nice sundress to the PFTS that we went to (I like to dress for these events, too) and I saw a lot of ladies dressed in nice pantsuits and even a few in semi-formal attire. I also saw plenty of people dressed more casually but nothing that I would have considered out of place. I think Disney's official line is that the dress code is business casual.

DH and I LOVE to dress up for it, and we always feel special walking through Epcot all nicely dressed ;)

I usually wear a dressy sundress or even a dress that's not quite semiformal but just below it. DH wears khakis, button up shirt, and a tie.

Wear comfortable shoes though! This is when I wear my comfortable flat dressy sandals. I've tried the high heel sandals and I still have the scars :scared1:

I agree with Forever42 comfortable shoes are the key. I too wore high heel sandals last year and I still have the scars:scared: . You will be on you feet alot but it is worth it :cool1: . DH and I had a really great time last year can't wait to back this year. I like to call the attire resort dressy.

Hi,
We will be at WDW during F&W. We would love to do PFTS but is it worth it for my ds (15). I know it is for dh and myself... but $150 for a teenager who cannot partake in the alcohol and wine?
Also how long does the party last. Reading last year's trip reports it seems like an awful lot of food to enjoy in a short time.

That's a personal decision you'll have to make. But when I brought my 15 year old nephew last October, I thought he would be bored out of his mind. To my surprise, he loved it. It was like his first "grown up party" as he called it and he just loved it. Even though he couldn't participate in the alcohol, he loved trying all the different foods and desserts.

DS is 16 and DD is 14 and they love PFTS. I should also add though that they are adventurous eaters and very into fine dining. The booze is only 1/2 the party so I don't get upset that they can't partake in that, yet we still have to pay for it. If you look at it from the perspective of getting your money's worth...probably not a good idea. If cash isn't a factor, I'd say go for it, you may be surprised that DS loves it.

Can someone please tell me what PFTS stands for? Also, is this year's schedule out yet? TIA
