***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

The "first Thursday at Jiko" is NOT a Food and Wine Festival event, but a DDE (Disney Dining Experience) event. DDE cardholders can book it, and it takes place year-round.

I'm sorry if our side discussion caused confusion. "Pay no attention here, folks...move along..."

The monthly wine dinners at Jiko are not a DDE event. They're run by the restaurant itself. I've heard of other signature restaurants testing the waters with their own events -- Artist Point for one.

To find out about future events, I would suggest asking the servers at the restaurant itself the next time you dine there.

FYI - According to Jiko, the Nov 6 wine dinner is already sold out.

What is up with the boards today??? :confused3

Yeah weird. Chelsi replied to my post before my post showed up? Wacky.

Could you give me a little more info on these events please.... I'll be buying the DDE card in August and don't know anything about the special DDE events:confused3

Thanks!!

I found out that it's not a DDE event, but something about an email list started by the chef at Jiko prior to the current chef. My friends knew about it, and they had DDE before I had it, so I thought it was through DDE.

My bad.

I just knew what you were thinking Lori! ;)

Some more info on the Wine Events.

Artist Point and Flying Fish both do Wine Maker's Luncheons. They usually happen on a Saturday from 12:00 until 3:00. They happen every quarter. The last one was in February and we were hoping that those restaurants would have another soon. They were supposed to happen this month but they were postponed.

Flying Fish used to be on Sunday's but I they are changing to Saturday's to make it easier on the attendees.

Congratulations!!! I have heard the Jiko Dinners are very hard to get into. Seems the group is a very close knit one and they sell out even before they are made public.

I'd do Flying Fish in a heartbeart if it coincided with one of our trips ... how on earth is someone supposed to find out about this? :confused3

Last year the Flying Fish did The Boating Party Luncheon. I think it was in October.

Brenda, do you have the DDE? That is how I found out about it.

If I hear anything I will let you know when.

Yes, we have the DDE for at least another year ...

This dinner is great, you'll enjoy it, some of my friends will probably be there.

Just found this!

The Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau board voted Wednesday to spend up to $50,000 to participate in a Louisiana Office of Tourism promotion at the 2008 Epcot International Wine and Food Festival at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The money comes from the bureau’s special projects account.

The Epcot festival will focus on Louisiana from Sept. 26 through Nov. 9. All regions of the state are being invited to become partners in the event.

Baton Rouge will anchor the final weekend of the festival, Nov. 2-9. The Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, under the auspices of Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is organizing what is expected to be a major tourism initiative for the state.

Bureau President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Arrigo is serving as team leader for the Greater Baton Rouge area. He said area parishes that have agreed to partner with Baton Rouge include West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville, Ascension, Livingston, Tangipahoa and the River Parishes.

Chuck Morse, assistant secretary of tourism, congratulated Arrigo and the board for being the first area of the first region to come aboard the project. He said, the Epcot festival “will put Louisiana in the spotlight and show the world that the state is open for business and second to none.”

Wednesday was the board’s first meeting in the BRCVB’s new bureau office at 359 Third St. Arrigo said a grand opening celebration is scheduled July 17.

I wonder if they will have crawfish? A friend of mine from Louisiana sent me YouTube videos of how to eat them. I've always wanted to try them. :)

Anxious to get mye reservations for Party for the Senses between Oct 30 and Nov 7. Already called WDW Dine to ask when they will start accepting reservations, but no one would tell.

We've planned on going to PFTS on 10/4 and 10/11, so maybe we'll see some of you foodies there as well. :thumbsup2

We'll see you there on the 4th. I met several ladies here on DIS boards and we are all going together. It will be my 7th F&W but my first PFTS. No one in my travel party will do it with me and I didn't want to do it all by my lonesome. So, I am one happy camper this year - Thank God for the DIS!

Corey and Julie talked about this a while back on the DIS Unplugged podcast. They are both from Louisiana and are very excited about the possibilities.

It is most likely that they don't have the exact date yet. Last year the booking date was August 6.
