***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

I have heard from a friend that works for Disney that they might not have a PFTS the 1st Saturday of the F&W this year. That they are having a cooking competition instead. :confused3
We will have to wait and see I guess!

Oh, I hope that's not true! :scared: The DH and I are planning on PFTS that night to celebrate our 15th anniversary.

Patiently waiting on details. We will be at Epcot on the 28th with no dining plans other than to enjoy the Festival.

Karen -
We hope it's not also! We have friends going the first week and have talked up PFTS so much..
I just hope the schedule comes out soon and proves my friend wrong!

Hi,

This will be our first Food and Wine in late Spet, Early Oct.
We have two adults and a 3 year old. So I am not real sure what we can do except go from booth to booth with our 3 year old. Are there any special events we should look into booking once the dates come out?

Thanks,
Steve

Count me in on this sentiment as well. :scared: I was talking this up to the DGF and we will both be devastated if it's bumped for, of all things, a cooking contest.

Just an FYI. It is not uncommon for a PFTS NOT to be scheduled for the first Saturday.

I think the first year it was held at World Showplace (where it held now), the first Saturday was for a special (private?) event.

I don't think most 3 year olds would be patient enough to sit through the culinary demonstrations, but yours may or may not be the exception. I think the food kiosks in World Showcase might be your best bet.

As for dining events, kids are pretty much non-existent. Granted, I've seen people bring their young (younger than teen) kids to the Party for the Senses, but I think that's unusual. I am sure they paid a fortune to have the kids there. I've felt it's inappropriate, but that's just my .02.

I think most if not all of the dining events would require finding babysitting services for your kid. I hope that gives you some perspective.

Bocuse d'Or USA Cuisine Competition Thanks for posting this info!

That is so cool! I wish we were going to be there - I'd love to see a competition like that.

If someone here ends up attending please please please come back and tell the rest of us all about it! :goodvibes

It's going to be amazing. I also think it's going to be extremely busy at WDW that weekend.
Most of the websites I've found about this event specifically say admittance is free with Epcot admission. I've seen a few that say (as the one above does) "open to the public". Might confuse some folks, I hope it doesn't. I tried to find a link to post that made the need for an Epcot ticket very clear.

WOW! Thanks for the updated info. This is so cool .. too bad I don't go till the 3rd!

I'll be there the first weekend, but if the competition is held during the evening I won't be attending it.

If it's in the daytime, it sounds like it'd be worth watching!

Wow!!!

We will be there that Saturday. We always go for the day to get the booklets to plan our October trip.

Thanks for posting the information.

Apparently I'm not a foodie... just a wine-o ;)

That's quite a panel of judges!!

I have to confess that I've never heard of these chefs.

But I trust you all and if you're excited, I'm excited. :cheer2:

Thanks for the breaking news. I think it's great that Disney is still trying to infuse new elements into the festival rather than letting it get stale. Hope that those of you that see the competition in person will tell us all about it!

I'll be there that weekend. But, like TDC Nala won't be attending if the competition is in the evening. On the 26th, we're doing MNSSHP and on the 27th, I'm running in the Expedition Everest Challenge.

The competition weekend will culminate in a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony. Approximately 300 paying guests will attend the dinner and auction to raise funds for the USA Bocuse d'Or team. Special guests at the dinner will include the competing USA chef teams, Bocuse d'Or USA advisory board chefs, sponsors and media guests.

Sounds like there probably won't be a PFTS that first weekend then.

Karen

And that dinner, if the public may buy reservations, is going to be freaking expensive.

I'll be off closing down the Adventurers Club so it won't matter.
