***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

$425 for ONE PERSON at ONE EVENT is absolutely absurd. What on EARTH are they thinking?

At the Disneyland food and wine festival, they offered an all-day cooking school for $400 and I think it sold out.

But this is really just a few hours.

About the only one of these I can do is the City Taste. I would be interested in the Todd English kitchen conversation but it is the same day as the Jiko wine dinner and I can't do that much food that close together, so I think Todd is out.

Since this will be my DW's and my first trip during the F&WF we will be happy just to "graze (and drink) around the world" at the food and wine kiosks. :goodvibes The rest of the foodie events sound overpriced and too much trouble trying to get a reservation. :(

The event prices seem to have gone through the ROOF! They make Party of the Senses look like a bargain! $70 for cheese tasting? Good grief!!

Thats it.. looks like two PFTS for us! I must be sick this sounds like a bargain!!!!!

I recently received an invitation from American Express special events to attend a wine dinner at the French Laundry, which included tastings of several vintages of "Screaming Eagle" wines.

The price -- $9,995 for two. That's right. Not $995 for two. $9,995 for two. All I can say is there are people in this country making way, way too much money. And, no, that did not include airfare to California or a hotel. The event sold out the first day it was offered.

I shouldn't even post this. Disney will get ideas! But, it will be hard for Disney to top that price!

Nothing can shock me now.

Well, I'm sorta interested in the City Tastes event, and the Kitchen Conversation with Jamie Deen. I know I'll book PFTS, but the rest is still going to be interesting.

I really hate it when a day I know I want to book something shows a TBA in it.

I am a bit surprised how late the ticket purchasing is...is it usually this late?

I have always wanted to do the French Laundry BUT have always ?? the price with wine leaving a dinner that you pay over $500.00 a couple. Then add in wines that are in "cult" status - I still can not imagine that I would get $10,000 a couples worth of enjoyment from it. I love Great Food and Wine but you do have to figure in .. really? $10,000?? My in-laws are in the tourist business and have been back and forth through the world on others dimes eating a great places.. two years ago we finally got them to the F&W fest with them poo pooing the whole way there and they even said.. for the amount you spend PFTS is among the best events they have ever been to!
Plus I cannot believe that French Laundry would give me my money in cheese and wine life PFTS! :rotfl: OFF MY SOAP-WINE BOX!

We won't miss PFTS...but can't believe it is the best deal out there...it used to be one of the most expensive!

this is what I thought...we would have had our tickets (or not) by now ;)

I think the French brunch is kind of neat but I'm at a loss as to understand how perfume plays into the food and wine festival ... :confused3

Unless Mr. Dior is giving away free samples I'm not sure I want to attend and even then I tremble to think of the price tag for the event.

That's the day we're planning on drinking around the world anyway ... perfume would just make me pukey. :rotfl:

Not really, the original booking date for this year was August 11, a week or so ago the word came down that the booking date was pushed back to August 25.

I have a theory that they will not be adding food and wine pairings at Le Cellier or Coral Reef, or any signature dinners at WDW resort restaurants (they might have more luncheons if they use restaurants that aren't open to the public at lunch) because that space is just too valuable to block off right now. With the sheer number of bookings and restaurants being booked up for dinner a lot of nights by regular customers, the turnover at those tables must be amazing.

As for the French brunch, I do not want to listen to a lecture about perfume. Just feed me and get me drunk.

And I need events on Sundays! NOT Sweet Sundays, something else.

I think the French lunches are on Sunday ... that's something I've got my eye on but I'd like to know just how much they're going to gouge, uh... I mean, charge for it.

Here's the problem with the French lunch. I can go to the Boujolais one but I don't like Georges DeBeouf. I could go to the Burgundy one but I did the Burgundy wine school last year - same winery.

The only other one I can get to is the first one (Bordeaux) so it's a possibility if nothing better comes along. And it'd be nice to know what they cost.
