***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Are the lanyards you have adjustable? The one I have is, and I can make them hold the glass a little lower.

If not, just wear a dark colored top. ;) This way, if you do spill, it won't be noticed. A nice deep wine glass works better also.

Mine can be adjusted, but there seemed to be no happy medium. too short and I had a drink under my chin, midway I was about to have an alcohol laden chest and if I let it hang low...my glass was just above my belly button and it looked like the girls were resting on the glass...probably should have taken a picture...I'm sure it looked hilarious, but I left it hanging way down just so I didn't wear my precious wine. :rotfl:

Stupid question about the lanyards, but how does the wine pourer fill up your glass without being too close to the girls, or without getting it on your shirt? :confused3

No question is stupid.

You take your glass in your hand and pull it away from you. The guy pours. We never had a problem last year.

Even rinsing out the glass was not a problem. Would pour in some water, swirl and then pour into the bucket.

One the lanyards they have instructions: Freedom to Wine and Dine. Hands free so you can hold your food.

1. Place stem of glass in slot on product.
2. Place strap around neck.
3. Pour wine into glass, but do not fill to top.
4. Rotate glass 90 degrees, sip, and return unsoiled area of glass back to self. :)

Those "girls" always getting in the way. :rotfl:

I didn't use mine at Disney, but I always took it off when getting a pour. I don't know if Disney will pour right into your own glass-anybody know about that one? I guess you could always get your wine and dump it in your own glass yourself. :confused3

Not sure about the food booths. If the wine bottles have the wine spout on it that portions your serving, they might. But if not, I was just going to pour it into my glass afterwards. Good question.

:rotfl2: I think I need to donate the "girls" to the needy! Maybe auction them off on Ebay? :rotfl: I have to draw the line when they start to interfere with my wine consumption!

I've stopped doing housework and am enjoying some fresh made white sangria :drinking1 waiting for friends to come over for BBQ white DH is playing World of Warcraft

On a FWF note, seeing the picture I may look into buying myself a wine lanyard too, though the "girls" issue is a problem as well..

(on a non-FWF note, holy COW is Mannequins fun and I'm really upset we never found it before last night. But really. really. sad that DH lost our camera)

Sorry for non FWF blather!

You are all so funny.

I'm sat here with a glass of wine trying to see how that lanyard would work out. I have to say I would probably spill it everywhere, and would need to keep asking DH if I needed a refill

LOL, but if you wear a dark shirt it doesn't matter, lol. :cool1: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Hey, I'm here. Been busy doing house work. :scared1:

Anyway, I have the website where you can get the lanyards. They are wonderful to use. Am I allowed to post the site here or do you have to PM me?

Let me know.

Anyway, whatever you do, don't buy them for more than $5.00 plus tax. I researched this and found that some places were actually charging $25.00!!! The lanyards I bought are very sturdy and work well.

Hi dizneykid could you post or PM me the website for the lanyards? Thanks! Sorry to go off FWF subject are you getting any of the rain from the storm?

The special beer last year was Long Shot weizenbock.

I'm guessing this year it will either be a blackberry wit or a coffee stout - these are the two that Sam currently has folks taste testing and voting on at various beer festivals (or the next Long Shot which is supposed to be DIPA).

Ohhh Coffee please!

Hmmm very strange!

Got a call from Disney today to inform us that due to "unforseen challenges" the Champagne Brunch that we booked for 10/14 has been canceled.

That must be some kind of record ... four days after booking opened.

I called just to try to get some information and couldn't get anyone to tell me what the "challenges" were. I also expressed my lack of enthusiasm over the culling of the program for this year's festival and was told that this was in response to customer surveys taken at various festival events last year, including the regional feasts, signature dinners, and exquisite evenings.

She said attendees were all asking for "something different" and when I said something different doesn't equate to eliminating all of those events that were obviously popular since they were selling out every year, she proceeded to tell me that people wanted more celebrity chef appearances.

:confused3

She tried to get me excited by telling me about the City Walk events (not being offered during our stay, thanks anyway) and then she tried to get me even more excited about Jamie Deen. I don't like Paula Deen why would I want to pay money to see one of her offspring? And I'm pretty sure he's making an appearance at a time other than our trip, anyway.

I know that we're all different and we all look for different things from the Festival, but for Jay and I meeting a "celebrity chef" is not what we travel to Florida and WDW in October to do. We are looking for unique and educational dining experiences that we could never have here in St. Louis. We used to get that from Epcot, but based on the conversation I had this afternoon it sounds like what we are seeing this year is the new and exciting wave of the future.

We'll still have a great time this October, but we continue to be disappointed by the line up for this year's festival. I definitely plan on writing a letter once we get home from our trip - I will send it to many people who will not care but it will make me feel better for about five minutes. :lmao:

BTW - I've never taken any kind of survey for F&W organizers and no one has ever been remotely interested in any suggestions or comments that we've offered in past years. Anyone else here taken a survey? :confused3

Did someone here mention that they sell Unibroue beers in the Canadian pavilion?

I hope they're available during F&W ... we've tried La Fin du Monde before and liked that, but last night we tried Trois Pistoles, a much darker ale that would be great with chocolate. It had some definite coffee overtones.

Yum!

DH said Unibroue is in La Celliar.
