Hi,
For anyone who has done the DiveQuest tour in Epcot, I've heard that Disney videotapes the dive to sell to you afterwards...is this true? if so, how much does it cost? my husband and i are doing the dive in December and we have no one going with us to take pictures of us during the dive :sad1: so we may have to rely on spending extra cash on the Disney video if they do that...what are your thoughts on the quality of the video?
thanks...
blub blub blub :fish:

Yes, they do video the dive and you can buy it at the end. I don't recall the price (and I'm sure its gone up since I did it anyway) but it was well worth it. They splice in some stock footage so you see not only your group, but also some other stuff about the Seas.

They certainly do video the dive. It was $35 seven years ago when I surprised my dad with the adventure for his 70th birthday. It's well worth it, in my opinion. My dad and stepmother bring that tape out every chance they get. And they are master divers.

Thanks for the info.....i hope the price hasn't gone up too much from $35 seven years ago but i just wanted to know so i could plan it into my vacation budget.....will i be able to preview the video before buying it?

I've done the dive twice and it's a lot of fun. But ... both times the video didn't come out!!! :confused3 They said it never happens but I doubt that

Fortunately my parents took lots of video from the outside so we cobbled something fun together.

2006 UG says cost of the dive is $140 and you can buy the video for $30.

I'd be interested in what those who've done this dive thought of it and its whether it's worth $140 ++

How long does the entire event take from arriving at the Living seas until you pay for your video.

here is a link to a WDW website regarding the dive

Its definitely worth it. Plus if you use disney visa you get a discount. Its about 3.5 hrs from start to finish and 45 mins in the water.

The fish are great but its about interacting with the crowd. We are in so many pics and videos from diners at coral grill!

I just booked the Dive Quest Tour today and used my DIsney Visa for a 20% discount....the total was $224 for my husband and I both.....we are pumped...the Disney lady on the phone when I booked said the tour is each day at either 4:30 or 5:30...we chose 5:30 and she said that if any family members wanted to wave at us or take pictures they could not come "backstage" but could expect to see us in the main tank about an hour into the tour (6:30)....so if anyone's in the Living Seas at 6:30 on Saturday, December 16th give us a wave...no family members on this trip...just us two!

Please post a review afterwards!!! Everything I have been able to read about it says it is amazing. I booked it for my husband for our trip in late December as a surprise. I know he is going to love it!!! I can't wait to hear more details.

This was my anniversary present to my DH. He talks about it nearly every time he sees a fish, a tank, a turtle, a picture of the ocean... you get the idea! He was certified when we were stationed in Okinawa, and never thought he would be impressed anywhere else, but as you might imagine, there are few places in KS to scuba. He said it was wonderful, we watched him from the living seas, and they LOVED going through the tank at Coral Reef! He gives us lots of behind the scene info every time we eat at the restaurant. He also got a t-shirt with the dive, and has worn it into nearly a rag. I don't find things for him that wows him very often, this certainly fit the bill, and found the video to be a great keepsake!!

To answer a few questions in this thread. I have not physically done Dive Quest but was there watching my dad and stepmother for their dive. And in the seven years since then, I practically know everything since they rank that dive as their #1 all time favorite. These are people who have dove around the world, are certified as master divers and owned their own scuba outfit in the Florida Keys until they retired. So yes, it is well worth the $140.

You meet outside of Epcot at Guest Relations. You do not need entrance into Epcot since you go in through the backstage. Anyone else who wants to watch will need admission. You need a valid c-card and a swim suit. Everything else is provided. If you have family members that want to watch, they will be including in the video from the other side of the glass. You will get your instructions and then do a group dive for half the time. Then you will be paired up with someone and go off to do your own thing for the other half of the time. After your dive, you will get cleaned up and debriefed. You will also be shown your video during this time so you can decide if you want to buy it. If you have anyone watching you, you will meet with them at the gift shop. However, I don't encourage that because you could be running late and if your family and friends have already gone through The Living Seas, there isn't much for them to do. We sat around over over a half hour for my dad and stepmother. I'd suggest picking a place somewhere on that side of Future World or at an outside table at Electric Umbrella.

Like I said, my father, who is very hard to please, constantly raves about this dive.

And most importantly - the entire dive is tax deductible since all proceeds go towards research.

thanks again everyone for the replys....i will definately post my review when i get back mid-December.....my only concern is about my ears.....my husband and i dive in the carribbean where i still get to see alot (good visibility) on the "way down" to depth since i sometimes descend very slowly because of allergies/sinus issues and end up using a few minutes of air in my descent...usually i just tell dive masters not to be concerned and that i will dive above the group until eventually meeting them at the bottom....once i break 30 feet the ear problem goes away...its the first 30' that i have to take it slow.....my question is this: will the CMs be understanding if i am messing with my ears during this dive (this dive is entirely in less than 30' of water)?..i just know this is going to be an issue for me but i dont want to make a big deal of it...i just do my own thing until my ears feel better.....usually two days into a week long dive trip i am descending much faster but this dive is a one day deal on a non dive vacation so my ears will not have a chance to adjust with repeated dives....just wondering if anyone else has ear issues in the shallow depths and if this made your Epcot dive not enjoyable...thanks...
