We have been discussing which dessert party menus to go for our Epcot dessert party using the new 2010 Epcot dessert party menus (here they are incase you want to see them :thumbsup2 http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/ftw/wdw/menus/epcotdp.html)

I think were going to go for the classic dessert buffet:
Tiramisu
Cheesecake
Chocolate Éclairs
Pistachio Cannoli
Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Linzer Diamonds
Cream Horns
Fruit Tarts
Fresh Fruit Salad

Fruit Punch
Coffee, Decaffeinated Coffee, and Selection of Teas
Flavored Syrups and Sticks, Sugars, Cream, and Honey

$30.00++ per Guest
Price based on up to 1 hour of service

We don't have linzer diamonds in the UK, and I looked them up and they sound a bit dull....or are they really tasty and I am missing something?:rotfl2:

Also looking to substitute the tiramsu as I have never heard good reviews on here.:upsidedow

What would you replace these with? I would like to add chocolate covered strawberries, or key lime tarts or perhaps creme brulee? Any advice (and possible food porn!) would be much appreaciated!:)

Lol we talked about them too!! I think they are like cookies... Or maybe are the like mini linzer tortes?

Here are the desserts we had at our wedding DP...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares, Florida Lemon Bars, Brownies, and some Oatmeal Cookies off to the right

Rice Crispy Squares, Assorted Cookies

...And at our anniversary DP:

Chocolate-covered Strawberries, Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares, Panhandle Pecan Tarts

Butterfinger Bread Pudding (*not* good - maybe if they'd remembered the creme anglaise it would have been less dry and bland? :confused3 )

Personally I'm a fan of the Linzer squares though I've never had Disneys. I'm a big fan of raspberry and jam things. But go for what you love most. I haven't heard good things about the tiramasu. More like it was a big bowl of cool whip

We had the linzer diamonds at our DP last month. They were just a sweet puff pastry with berry "filling" kind of like a berry turnover (I'm not sure if these are just a Midwest thing or not... so sorry if you have no idea what I'm talking about.) They were okay, but honestly the least favorite of our offerings. Some people liked them, just not me. :confused3

Lurkyloo...did you create your own menu or take one of the existing ones and substitute items?

You should get your own website going...you can be like Oprah...anything you recommend will sell like hotcakes!

EEEEEEwwwwwww Those will have to disappear! :wizard:

:rotfl2: Hmmm... then my first recommendation will have to be hotcakes!

We actually didn't customize our wedding dessert party menu at all because we didn't know you could. :headache: But our anniversary menu was entirely customized by picking things from various menus and asking for the peanut butter chocolate marshmallow squares (which are no longer listed on Epcot's menus, but the recipe must be somewhere, cuz we got 'em!)

This is wonderful! My fiance and I are getting married in WDW and want to have a rehearsal dessert party. So many things sound fab on these menus!

Anyone know how much you can substitute? I'd love to do the ice cream bar with some of the childhood memories tossed in.

We completey customized our menu, and it was all delicious!! The cost was $34/guest. Here are some pictures:

Droooooooooooooool! I love the dessert porn! :rotfl:

Does anyone know if there are any ways to save on the per person cost of an Illuminations DP?

We're booking UK Lower which has a F/B Min of only $440.
We're expecting approx 60 guests, so with the Childhood Memories menu of $23pp, that brings us to about $1400. (not including the service fees, tax or the viewing fees! :headache:)

Approx 10 of those 60 guests are children, but we are told the price is the same for the buffet for both.

Do you usually end up with a ton of food left over from DPs? I hate to pay a fortune and throw it away.
Is it possible to order less or do you have to order buffet menus and the pay per person cost? :confused3

Thanks in advance!!
Leah

We substituted some things too, this was our menu:

Tiramisu
Cheesecake
Mickey head Rice Krispy treats
Pistachio Cannoli
Chocolate fudge brownie
Linzer Diamonds
Cream Horns
Jiko - Allspice-flavored cake soaked in raspberry honey with seasonal berries and honey sabayon

Just wanted to add we substituted some things too. Here is our final menu:

Tiramisu

Cheesecake

Chocolate Eclairs

Chocolate Banana Brownies

Lizner Diamonds

Bread Pudding

Yellow Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting

Coffee, Tea, Fruit Juice

OHHH - Bread Pudding! That's my favorite! I wonder if you can get a caramel or cream anglaise type of sauce for it?

We did end up with leftovers, and we came prepared with Ziplox! :thumbsup2 Since you only have to meet the $440 minimum, you might ask about customizing the menu to be one family-style dessert instead of the usual 6 or 8 individual items served for X number of people. For instance, the Hot Fudge Sundae Flambe action station is just $9/person. So you could call the party an ice cream social and just have that.

Yes, it's supposed to come with a creme anglaise sauce. They forgot ours when we had Butterfinger bread pudding, and I gotta say, it didn't taste like any bread pudding I'd ever had. It was just sort of dried-out goo... :confused3

Hi - Thanks (as always) for the tips!! :thumbsup2

LOL - well thanks Carrie - that just makes me want to run out and get me some Disney bread pudding...heh

I have heard also that the tiramisu is touch and go too....not sure if I want to chance that...now cheesecake lollipops, THOSE must be good!!

I would love to do this the night before our wedding but there will only be 6 of us in total. Any idea what we would be looking at cost wise?
