Dh and I are heading to Epcot for a day on Dec 15th, for our anniversary. I already reserved Coral Reef for lunch and am getting a diver/menu. We're on a limited budget so we need to eat counter service for dinner. Are there some CS places in World Showcase with a nice (preferrably romantic) atmosphere?

I hate walking by all those beautiful restaurants and not eating at one! Should I nix the Coral Reef and reserve a table service place in World Showcase instead? Help!!!

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a lot of experience with CS at Epcot, but this year we "discovered" the Japanese CS up on the hill. We only tried the green tea, but the atmosphere on the hill was wonderful at night. There are Japenese lanterns outside with some outdoor seating. It is quiet and very out of the way. Not sure how the food tastes, but the outdoor seating area was beautiful!

you can try for a lakeside table at the Cantina de San Angel to watch Illuminations, but I think you have to stake one out quite early.
Similarly, you can get fish and chips from England, or items from the French bakery and stake out a spot near the lake in England, but it's a crapshoot if the pavillions are open to the public or not on any given night. The gardens where the British Invasion plays is very pretty too.
I echo the PP, the little garden in Japan is very pretty as well.

Hmm. I don't know about romantic, but Tangierine Cafe is nice, good food. You can sit outside (more picturesque that way). The other option would be the french quick service place, Boulangerie something? Croissants outside of a quaint french cafe should be pretty romantic.... We had treats at the Norwegian pavilion too. I wouldn't call it romantic, but the birds were adorable, skittering around on the ground gathering the crumbs!

Thank you for the replies! I just can't decide if I want to go this route or if I want to cancel my ADR's for Coral Reef and get something more romantic for dinner. Like the Bistro de Paris?

Oh, decisions, decisions.

I second the Japan counter service. It was so quiet in there, and the food was very good. Not one noisy, fussing kid either! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there.

The Yakitori House is the name of the Japanese restaurant on the hill people are talking about. It's a nice quiet little restaurant and the food is really good. We like to get a bowl of udon noodle soup and the Tonosoma combo which has tempura, chicken and beef. If weather permits eating outside by the little garden is really nice. Of course, for us, eating anywhere there inside or out is nice. We then follow up our meal with a trip to the store in Japan for candy or other sweets.
