Just got back from WDW. While there we did the Cookie Stroll in Epcot. To be honest DH and I thought all the cookies were pretty bad. The gingerbread man was as hard as a brick and had no flavor. The frosting was like cement. The black and white cookie was think, had a weird texture, and little flavor. The Kringle cookie from the American Pavilion had decent flavor but must have been sitting out for days. The Linzer cookie was my favorite. The flavor was good and the cookie had the right crispness. But the jam inside was super hard. The peppermint pinwheel was ok, but very crumbly and lacked a lot of peppermint flavor. The sprinkles on the edge about broke my teeth. The free Minnie peppermint cookie was prepackaged with thick hard frosting and no real peppermint flavor. All pretty much were a miss for us. We only finished the Kringle cookie and the Linzer. The rest we pitched after a couple bites. Learned my lesson.....bake my own!

We just returned today and did the Cookie Stroll last Sunday morning. We enjoyed all of the cookies and found that they were fresh and flavorful. Maybe you went late in the day and some had set out too long uncovered. Sorry for your disappointment but we enjoyed them.

I only had one cookie from the cookie stroll and it was the chocolate crinkle one from the American pavilion booth. It was wonderfully soft and chocolatey. I went on the first day of the festival so maybe they made sure they were on their game for all the bloggers that day!

We had fun doing the cookie stroll this year and last. We kinda knew based on last year that we might not like them all, but it was fun. We went around, collected our cookies, and brought them all back to the room for every one to try. The black and white cookie and Linzer were the best, very yummy. Next were the chocolate cookie (last year's was better than this year) and sugar completer cookie (son liked it,) we did not care for the gingerbread or the peppermint. But still fun to try. None were as good as other desserts you get at the Patisserie (my favorite place to snack,) or the other pavilions, but when all said and done, it was fun and mostly yummy.

Is the gingerbread hard or chewy? And does the black & white have some lemon flavor?

Our gingerbread cookie was as hard as a rock. No the black and white cookie has no flavor, like lemon. I think they are going for chocolate and vanilla. But I didn’t get much chocolate. It is a very thick and chewy cookie.

We went on three different days in the afternoon.

Makes me wonder why you kept going. Couldn't you have quit after the first few bad ones. :)

Good question! Well we got the gingerbread cookie first. It was terrible. But then we got the Linzer cookie second. And while DH wasn’t a fan, I thought it wasn’t too bad. So we next decided to try the black and white cookie. By that time we felt we were committed. LOL!

I agree, not the best this year, but it was later in the day... when we were in Epcot on Friday... The linzer cookie was pretty good, the jam was soft in ours, the peppermint cookie, not enough peppermint at all... it was like they were all dried out, crumbly and lacking the flavor they should have had... We have done it in the past and had really great results... Maybe next year... I will say on Saturday night we got some cookies at Goofys Candy shop at Disney springs, and the cookies are soooo good... I have one gingerbread left for me, and DH has a peanut butter chocolate chip dessert tonight...very moist, and flavorful, and not to much frosting on the ears, very thin layer... I'm going to want to get a few more before the season is over...

It’s called a half moon where I come from. It’s a cake like cookie. There should have been a very faint almond flavor.

I did the cookie stroll two years ago and didn’t think any of the cookies really stood out. Not very flavorful or seemed like they weren’t fresh. It’s too bad because they could make it so much better!

Almond flavor in half moon cookies? Not where I'm from! The local bakery, which was open from the 1940s to the 1990s, put out a cookbook. Their most famous item was their half moon cookie. Nothing in the recipe which would cause an almond flavor. No almonds, no marzipan.

Can you post the recipe... I think this is the one my grandmother made... Pleeeeeese!

One has to admire your commitment to a lost cost. :)

We were just there a week ago and only tried the Crinkle Cookie and the Linzer and both were delicious. I was actually pleasantly surprised as my past experience with most Disney cookies was rather underwhelming. Gingerbread and peppermint don't appeal to us so we skipped most of them.

We thought the savory offerings were much better than the sweets during this year's festival. We had some seriously incredible tastes of savory items. We did like the linzer cookie, but the rest were just okay. Our gingerbread was soft, but not spectacular

The cookies in the stroll didn't appeal to me, but the gingerbread sandwich cookie at Karamel Kuche was pretty life changing, in my humble opinion. :-)
Totally agree about that salted caramel gingerbread cookie sandwich. I wish I had gotten more. I like the the chocolate crinkle cookie the best and second was the peppermint crunch - my linzer cookie was too soft - I make much better ones. did not like the black and white cookie at all and did not get the gingerbread one - the lady at the American pavilion gave me two stamps for the crinkle cookie so I didnt need it. The completer cookie was just a shortbread with the peppermint design on it and was good

ETA: you can get 5 of the same cookie to get the completer cookie if the others dont appeal to you

I liked the Black and White cookie. It was as good as I thought it was last year. I also had the Crinkle cookie and like it. But it needed nuts. And a pinch of salt to bring out the flavor.
