Epcot-Boring?

We loved Epcot. Visiting the countries, the street performers, the quiet atmosphere, Test Track. My DS5 LOVED Figment(still talks about him often) and we all loved the Kodak exhibit that you enter when you exit Figment. And who cannot love Illuminations? Oh, and we cannot forget Innoventions! We enjoyed the Fire Safety exhibit(of course what self-respecting firefighting family wouldn't?)

It seems that each park has people who could stay for two days and people who could be finished with it after a few hours..... To each their own.

For us, DD didn't really go for Epcot the first time around, but the last two trips, she's enjoyed MS, Innoventions, the fire safety game (huge hit!), that MS space race game (finish a game, run around to line again, repeat. lol), building the plastic robot and 'running' that game, the street performers, etc..... She always sends Nana and Pop e-cards she makes there, too, and some have been really cool.

I enjoy the shops - I've been to a lot of the countries and though the showcases are hardly 'reality', the shops often carry those little items I miss. Of course, Disney prices for them are outrageous, but browsing is cool. :)

I agree when some people have said that different parks suit different people. I just spent 2 weeks in WDW and only went to the MK twice (and one of those times was when we took the backstage magic tour!) I find the park relaxing and there are a couple of things that I like to do there, but other than that, well!! But I love Epcot and visited there many times. I love Test Track and Soarin. I love simply wondering around the countries and looking at the theaming, attractions and shopping each has to offer. Plus I love watching Illuminations. I also love MGM as I love the attractions there plus I love the whole theatre/movie atmosphere.

I am so glad different people like different things though. That to me is what makes WDW so special as each park is so different.

Epcot went from worst to first for our family. We rushed in , in theme park mode, hit the rides, and rushed through the countries, missing everything. Didn't go at all on the second trip, gave it another chance, on our last day of the next trip. Being tired, we really took our time, looked in all the countries in depth, and found things we really liked. My 16 yr old DD had friends along, and told them on the way in, "45 minutes and I'm ready to leave epcot" They teased her later for it as we stayed from opening to closing and the kids really loved the park.

Getting out of rush mode and soaking in the environment is the key

<<Epcot is the #2 visited themepark in the United States so it can't be that boring >>
Actually Epcot is number 3, after the Mk and Disneyland. I enjoy EPCOT, it is my second fave of the WDW parks, Mk being my fave. I enjoy just wandering around and investigating everything it has to offer. Altho i do wonder if EPCOT were not a Disney park, if it would do as well as it does,

I LOVE Epcot. We like pretty much all the rides. Though, maybe we are the only ones in the world who can skip Test Track...It holds no interest for us. But everything else is great.

World Showcase is such a great way to spend a day! We will stroll around slowly, stopping in each country, browsing the stores, talking with the CMs from around the world. It is amazing the stories you will hear. My DS is getting old enough, so that on our next visit he will do the crafts in all the countries. It is a great way to expose yourself & kids to other cultures & traditions.

We stop & listen/watch the different preformers in each country. It is a nice treat. You just need a different prespective on WS. Take it easy & slow. Enjoy the "world" you visit.

It's funny, but for me and my DH, our favorite part of the entire Disney complex is EPCOT world showcase. We love to walk around (and around and around!) the showcase. Compared to the other parks, EPCOT is much more spaced out, the walkways are wider, people are not crunched in against each other.

Of course, if you are asking whether EPCOT is boring for kids, the answer is NO! Depending on their ages take them to Honey I Shrunk The Audience, Soarin' Test Track, etc.

We love it because we think Disney made that spot for people like us--hungry, thirsty, and ready to walk!

On our first trip to Disney, we thought Epcot was boring and had finished the park in 1/2 a day!

I'm not sure what happened, but on our next trip, we really gave Epcot a chance. We took our time and I was amazed at how much we missed. I guess the first time we just weren't giving it a chance. It is truly a unique and awesome experience.

On trip last year, it took us 2 full days to tour Epcot. It's amazing how it went from boring to a favorite for us.

No need for flaming...everyone is entitled to their opinions and we all have our own likes and dislikes. WDW is still the greatest place on the planet! :goodvibes

Same for us! I used to think Epcot was so boring, but then all of the sudden, on the last trip it was just a revelation. We actually took our time through Innoventions and did the Land, the Living Seas, strolled slowly through the WS. I finally did the Universe of Energy too, which I also enjoyed, not because it was educational per se. I don't really know what the difference was, but epcot went from worst to first with us, in record time.

Just like those who seem to dislike Florida so much, if you find Epcot boring, stay at MK, MGM and AK and leave Epcot to those who adore it!!

Yes, keep the crowds out of Epcot -- more room for those of us who LOVE it! :sunny:

Epcot is on of DH and my favorite parks it's where we spend most of our time. I think some of the tips so far like slowing down and enjoying everything are soooo true. At the MK you're in a rush so you can get everything done. Enjoy the shops, watch the fish in the living seas, explore innovations, and catch some great preformers in World showcase. Also if you're staying at a WDW resort make sure and get a dining plan so you can try some of the great World Showcase restaurants (Le Cellier being my favorite). And if it's in your budget try out one of the tours.

I noticed it was your first post.

.....And nothing is greater than riding Spaceship Earth... Such a relaxing ride, especially after walking all day.

I LOVE Spaceship Earth!!!! Not sure just what the "bling" is for me, although it might have something to do with being able to actually SMELL Rome buring! Actually my kids - ages 9, 6 and 4 - also love this ride! (I think for them it's the going down backwards) :goodvibes

I sure hope it's not boring! I took my son in 1989 (who was 11 at the time) for a fun trip to WDW before he got too old to want to go on vacation with his mother! It was just the two of us and I was so fascinated with Epcot; unfortunately, DS was just trying to find a ride (and there weren't many then!). I thought at the time, I would LOVE to come here with an adult. All those countries! (and I don't fly or do cruises, so I'll never get to see any of 'em "in person"). Well, all these many years later, I'm getting my chance. DH and I are going for our 15th anniversary in May :cool1:

Sorry didn't read all 3 pages of posts, so if this was already said my apologies.

We just got back and had a great time in Epcot. We really took our time in each country. Trying to get the feel of really being there. If fact, my daughter said let's pretend we are in each of these countries as we walk through. That gave it a whole new perspective!

The best thing that we did this trip was to visit with the CM's in WS. We met some amazing and fun people. We learned alot about their countries from them. They were so excited to tell about where they are from and we enjoyed hearing about their homeland. This made Epcot a whole new experience. We asked each of these CM's if we could take their picture - we wanted to remember the neat people we met. They were all so thrilled to have their pictures taken with us. I highly recommend this for a great WS experience! ::yes:: :wizard:

My hubby & I have really started to enjoy Epcot more & more everytime we return. Since we go in the off-season, we end up at Epcot almost nightly, when all of the other parks close by 6 or 7.

I agree with what everyone here has said already - you have to be in a different park touring mode than when you go to the MK. We like to finish our days at Epcot, strolling thru all the countries & just enjoying the atmosphere.

One of our favorite things to do on a trip to WDW is get a couple of drinks from the Rose & Crown & watch The British Invasion in the evenings. We always end up seeing them play several times on a trip. :)

EPCOT is my favourite park...I just adore the atmosphere and of course I love all the rides but I just love the whole auro of just walking around taking in the sights and sounds...there is so much to see and do...last time we were there we fast passed test track and got on spaceship earth and that was it and I was just peachy keen. I love EPCOT :flower3:

Epcot has disappointed me in recent years. Many moons ago, I was fascinated by Epcot. Innovations was truly innovative... Imagination really sparked my imagination... World of Motion was suprisingly interesting.

Something happened to Epcot since then, and I'm not sure what it was. It doesn't seem to be as alive as it used to be. Maybe it's because I'm older, but I don't get inspired anymore. World of Motion is gone, Imagination stinks (IMHO). There is no life in between the pavilions. There used to be so much life! It's not really dead, but sleeping I guess (I hope). The Living Seas had so much more. Take away Turtle Talk and what's left?

The feeling of the whole park seemed to come from the theme of Spaceship Earth: where we came from, where we are, and where we're going. It always made me want to go invent something when I got back home.

Now, they have Characters on Holiday and the weird-looking graveyard-like of names. They've added thrill rides, but not inspiration. Soarin' is good, and I really, really like it, but how long will that last? There's no story - it's based on technology and special effects only. Will be still be riding it in ten years? Technology will have moved so far that I fear our children will be laughing at that one. Spaceship Earth, as corny as it can be, can last for decades more if it was updated (not gutted and completely changed).

Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with Mission Space or Test Track. Those are wonderful additions to the park. I simply wished they hadn't sacrificed the original feeling of wonder and inspiration that came with Epcot.

I wonder if anybody who remembers it from years ago feels the same way I do. Perspective is a fascinating thing.
