Epcot - Behind the Seeds

Has anyone done the walking tour that goes into Living with the Land? I understand that it takes folks into the greenhouse area, and basically gives much more information about the hydroponics used and other topics of particular interest to those who farm or garden. Is it worthwhile? Any suggestions on best days/times to do this? My wife and I will be heading to DW for her birthday in early October, and farming is in her blood, so I thought this might be a fun, interesting sidebar...

Any info/suggestions greatly appreciated!

We love it, and had done it with and without our kids. You learn about the green houses, pest control and the way some of the food is grown. You get to release ladybugs and eat cucumbers. There are a lot of discounts available too (DVC, Disney visa, AAA). Have fun!

I agree. We did it in May of 2013. That was my second time doing it and I enjoyed it every bit as much the second time as I did the first. We actually had one of the microbiologists do the tour. He was a wealth of practical information.

And farming is definitely not in my blood. I shudder at having to mow the grass.

I really enjoyed this tour. The price is reasonable as well! You can usually do it same day with no advance reservations needed.

Oh yes, we all 3 loved this tour!! We scheduled ours for the hottest part of our Epcot day and really enjoyed everything about it. There were only 7 people total in our group & the guide was knowledgeable and took the time to answer every single question. Totally worth it IMO.

Done this twice now and loved it both times. For the money, it's really a great value. It's nice to really look at all the plants growing instead of just going by them in the boat, though we love the ride!

You can ask any question you might want. Our tour guides both times were really good. It's a nice little break from the parks at only an hour.

The time of day might not matter much. We did ours last time at about 3:30 or so I think and it was perfectly during an afternoon storm. September 2012

I haven't gone, but my husband did it by himself on our last trip. (Kids weren't interested; figured he'd enjoy it more alone than with two impatient kids along!) He loved it! Still talks about it and maybe even doing it again when we go back this year. It seems to always be a very small group, quite inexpensive (especially with discounts) and doesn't take the whole day.

We try to do a special paid tour, event etc per year and a few years ago, we did this one. It was really inexpensive (by WDW standards) and well worth it IMO.
It was interesting and informative. Little ones would be bored I think but older kids might like it. Especially if they are into gardening or science in general.

My DH and I did this tour last time we were at Epcot. It was a blast and worth the $$. We signed up for it the day of and it was a last minute add on, although we were there during a slow time.

I did it a few years back! Loved it! They give you samples, get to help, go behind the scenes and learn a lot!! Do it if you have the chance!

DD and I did this tour in the mid-morning on a very hot Epcot day. Decided to do this while waiting for our Soarin' FPs and the tour fit the time available rather than leaving and coming back. Lots of walking but very interesting, should note that it does get warm in some of the areas we visited. I don't remember if we were permitted to bring a water bottle along or not. We definitely enjoyed it. Our guide was part of the College program and gave DD some tips to think about.

We did it October (2 adults), and loved it. Very informative. Our tour was early on a Friday morning, and it was 14 of us, not sold out, but a nice size. We would actually do it again!
