EP Ticket - am I calculating this correctly?

We will be visiting WDW for 2 nights post-cruise in August. My current plan is to visit EP for 2 days (my favorite park, we are staying at BWV and I want to do Soarin' and FEA). My DH and I have non-expires to use, but I need to purchase tickets for DS8. It looks to me that purchasing 2, 1-day Value day EP tickets for DS8 is $10 cheaper than purchasing a 2-day base (we are going on value days). Am I seeing this correctly?! Or am I missing something? It would actually be really advantageous to purchase the 2, 1-day tickets for him as he may not go in the park on the 2nd day and I could then just save that extra ticket for another time instead of wasting it on the 2-day base. I do want to purchase the tickets now to make FP+ for both days, however.

Anyway - just want to make sure I'm seeing these prices correctly!?

A two day ticket would be $202.35 for your 8 year old.

Two, one day tickets to Epcot would be $193.84

The only thing about using that ticket later is to remember that it will expire on December 31, 2017. But yes, I believe you are looking at the pricing correctly.

Thanks so much! Yes, I forgot about the expiration! I believe they would at least put the value of that one day toward the purchase of a new ticket? If that's the case, it would still make sense since I would get some value out of the 1 day purchase and not throw a day away on the 2-day base. Thank you!

I could be wrong - and I don't think anyone knows yet as we haven't run into the date yet where a ticket actually has "expired" but it was my understanding that once they're expired they are no longer valid. The point was to try and get people from getting around the increases. They may or may not give you the purchased value towards a new ticket - only time will tell.

If you're not sure he will use the second day EP ticket, why not just buy one now and buy the other if he decides that he wants a second day?

Because she wants to make FP at 60 days for those 2 attractions.

She's talking about going post cruise in August. She's lost the opportunity for the 60 day window and may even be within the 30 day window of offsiters. At this point in time, she will be lucky to get what she wants. She may need to plan on rope drop and do standby for these rides instead.

Good point, I didn't even notice how soon the trip was! I'm with you on the likelihood of FP for these attractions at this point.

as he may not go in the park on the 2nd day

Please feel free to tell me it's none of my business, but if he doesn't go in the parks and you and DH do go into the parks, where is your DS8 going to be? Disney is pretty safe, but I'm not sure I would leave my 8 yr old alone in the room for the day.

Here is the current disclaimer on buying a 1-day ticket:

Op here. Just to clarify a few things.

1) I checked and, yes, if we don't use one of the tickets, I can put the value of that ticket toward the purchase of a new ticket if we use it after it expires at the end of 2017.

2) Our EP FP+ are already scheduled for the two days. DS8 currently has a 6-day ticket that I purchased prior to the last price increase for a trip we ended up not taking. That ticket is linked in MDE so I was able to make FP+ at the 60 day mark. I definitely do not want to use that 6-day ticket for the 2 day trip, however. Hence, the purchase of either a 2-day or 2, 1-day passes.

3) DS8 will never be left alone!!! If he does not want to go to EP on the second day, he and DH will either hang by the pool while I go into EP, and/or DH and I will go in the late afternoon after dropping DS8 off at the Sandcastle Club at 4:30 pm! Now matter how you slice it, he will be supervised by an adult at all times! :)

Good to know! Apparently my morning caffeine hadn't kicked in b/c I didn't go down and read far enough!
:welcome: They actually moved that information from the last time I had looked at it like a month or so ago. You have to click on a link that is for "See important 1-day ticket information" to see that particular disclaimer rather than it just being in the fine print at the bottom of the page where you select your date for your 1-day ticket.

So since you have your FP+ already booked, buy your DS a one day ticket to start and then buy a second one if he wants to go into the park the second day as well. As long as two separate EP tickets are less than a 2 day pass AND you are only going to EP, that's what I would do. Since you and your DH have passes to use both days, if your DS doesn't want to go the second day you can even split time with him during the day and then still use the kids club to have couple time in the evening. Have fun!
