Yeah, that's the only thing that surprised me...that it wasn't coinciding with Earth Day.

I'm really bummed right now that I don't have the safari room or Animal Kingdom room or whatever it's called. I'd love to make a room for this theme!

You know, as lame as this theme seems, I would be behind it 100% if it involved BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY.

I'm not sure what the big deal is? Disney is very much into what they call "Environmentality" and is also very much into the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund. Conservation was important to Walt Disney. Heck, they have an entire park (Animal Kingdom) that heavily promotes conservation. VMK is one big Disney advertisement...so why can't Disney also promote a part of them that is very important to the company...environmentalism?

Very good call! This has totally swayed my opinion on the matter. I'm all for it if they can relate the theme back to Disney some how.


However, my opinion will change if the Weekend/Host pins are as follows:

1. Greenhouse Pin
2. Nuclear Power Plant Pin
3. Caribou Pin
4. Oil Tanker Pin
5. Hole in the Ozone Host Pin



Now, if you all will excuse me: I have an APES (AP Environmental Science) take-home essay to do.

2. Nuclear Power Plant Pin
3. Caribou Pin

Blech infotainment... I'm sorry, but if I want to learn about the environment, i'll pick up a biology book or an issue if US News... not learn about stuff I already know through VMK..

Well, I am a person who mainly watches PBS shows such as Nature and Nova. When I have access to cable, I mainly watch the History, Travel, Learning, Discovery, Science, etc. channels.

I have always believed that learning is the key to a better tomorrow for everyone.

Although young children may not be too keen on the enviroment, I think they are a good target as they are who come after us, and are going to have to deal with upcoming problems concerning our earth. We must also remember about Jack Johnson's song, "The 3 R's," as found on the Curious George Soundtrack. I do not believe this song is brainwashing, rather a way to enforce actions that benefit our planet, like recycling.

"We got to learn to reduce, reuse, recycle, reduce, reuse, recycle."

OH.My.God ALL last week that's what they played on the announcements. I got so sick of it and my classmate wanted to use the art mallet to kit the speaker!

As if I don't get enough of this from my dad. yeah, we gotta recycle to save the planet, im all for that, but putting it into a game that is supposed to be FUN?? PLEASE. Yea, im gonna wanna read yavn's newsletter next week to see what he has in store for us @_@ I can see it now: dress like a hippie , recycling race, oh yeah, March is gonna be a BLAST.

Disney is very big on their "Environmentality"...it stems from Walt Disney's passion for conservation and environmentalism. I think it's wonderful that ALL of Disney (including VMK) is incorporating something that is clearly very important to the company.

I think if people realized just how awesome taking care of the environment can be and how awesome conservation is...people would stop viewing it as a chore. Perhaps we should wait to see how the month actually plays out before we decide this idea is bad or not fun.

Well, I looked through the names of the Events again, and I want to impart my feelings on the matter:

It doesn't seem too bad. It's just the usual "Recycle" "Save the Rainforests" "Keep the Oceans Clean".

And given that no one watches Kratt's Creatures (or whatever it was) any more, kids these days need a new outlet to impart upon them the importance of the environment.

It was these shows/documentaries that influenced me to study Environmental Science and fall in love with Marine Biology.

If VMK can capture a child's love for the environment, I would adore Disney forever (heh, like anything could change that?). But if they want to preach about current Government programs and policy, that's where I draw the line.

Politics does not belong in a children's game. Let's get that straight, right now.

If VMK wants to nail this perfectly, then they have to do it right. No politics, only the environment.

I will leave all of you with the immortal words of World Renowned Boston Lawyer, Denny Crane:

You're one of those environmental lawyers?...They're evildoers. Yesterday it's a tree, today it's a salmon, tomorrow it's, 'Let's not dig up Alaska for oil because it's too pretty.' Let me tell you something, I came out here to enjoy nature, don't talk to me about the environment.

Actually, after spending much of my life around missionaries and very religious people, I find very little about Disney and what they do as "preachy".

You probably wouldn't have cared for Walt Disney much then since all of Animal Kingdom completely represents how passionate Walt Disney felt about conservation and environmentalism.

Actually this has made me decide to buy a quest kiosk...I know exactly what I'll be doing a quest on!

I have only been to the Conservation Station once and never seen the Circle of Life video because it wasnt there the one time we went to that pavilion. Maybe I have just ignored or missed only of the preachy attractions.
