Can anyone please tell me if there are pubs & clubs near to the hotels rather than having to travel to the Downtown Disney part?

All the moderates have a bar I believe, and bars at all the pools. POFQ has ScatCats in the main buliding plus a bar at the pool as well (or so my research has shown).

Deluxe all seem to have bars. CR does, and the EPCOT deluxes of course are all at the Boardwalk, so it's all just like going down the street to a bar.

I don't remember if there was a bar at the ASMu when I stayed there. I have vague recollections of a small cabana offering drinks by the pool, but I'm not positive.

Scat Cats seems to be just a bar... I hope as I am staying at POFQ for my first time this next trip, that they have live music there sometimes as well, as they bill it as a jazz bar.

Boardawalk has a couple of nightclubs, although I haven't sampled them myself. Jellyrolls has intrigued me for a while though, with dualing piano players. There's also the Atlantic Dance Hall.

we just cant seem to decide on a good location to stay at. everything has its good points. we want to be as close as possible to pubs & clubs. i've heard that the hilton is in walking distance from downtown.

or else i've been told that we can rent out a small boat (do you know if this is true) which we can commute from across the lake to downtown disney.

so many things to decide on .... i'm going to be up all night trying to decide.

There are a number of hotels near DTD, but they look like longer walks if you ask me.

Also don't forget the PO resorts have the ferry to DTD, so even though it may be a little while, it's still a unique way to get to and from DTD. I'm not so sure about the timing of the ferries though. I don't know about renting boats, I haven't heard about that... Or at least I don't know if they allow you to use the PO boats to go that far down river.

As an adult who has gone with friends the last couple of times, we were happy enough with the moderate accomodations. The pool and bar was great to have after long days, and only once or twice did we spend nights out at DTD anyway. The buses seem quick enough to/from the mods to DTD.

how long does the ferry from PO take? i'm travelling with someone who has bladder problems so commute times are a big thing to them.

I would recommend either the Boardwalk Inn or the Swan/Dolphin. Both are close to Broadwalk's Jelly Rolls and the Atlantic Dance Club. Also on the Boardwalk, you have the ESPN Sports bar/restaurant and a Brewery. From the Boardwalk Inn, you can quickly walk to the World Showcase section of Epcot, where they also have some pubs and cocktail lounges. It's more of an adult atmosphere than the other theme parks.

I couldn't tell you yet, I'm sorry. I think www.allearsnet.com's write-up on POFQ may have listed it, but I don't remember. What I do remember about it though is that the ferry picks up at POR first, and sometimes there may be a wait at POFQ because of this.

If evening entertainment is the most important thing for you, I would agree with swilphil. Stay on the Boardwalk. As a semi-partier, any mod works fine in my book. Besides, the best time I've had entertainment-wise was catching the British Invasion show at EPCOT while swigging English beer. ;)
