Entertainment Rates not the best anymore?

Sorry if this has been discussed recently, but I'm a little confused. We've stayed at UO resorts several times in the past 3 years and always the Ent. rate was the best. I called yesterday and was very disappointed to find that the Ent. rate for RPR in Dec. was $152 plus tax! (We paid $110 plus tax in Oct. 2003).
Today I came over here to see if the prices have really gone up that much in a year. Based on what others are saying I went to the UO website and checked the Fan Club rate and AP rate and they were cheaper! I'm glad, but surprised. Is this common now? I already have the Fan Club card and will be buying AP's for our trip, so that will save me having to spend $45 for the new Ent. book.

I am planning a trip Oct 6-10th this year and no matter where I check I just keep getting the same rates for the onsite hotels. All over $200/night. I checked Universal vacations, Entertainment, FAN Club, Hotel Kingdom, Loews First, Hotels.com and a few other Internet based sites and never seem to get discounted rates. So the entertainment rates I see are no better (or worse) than any other rate I can get.

Is it because of the HHN activitiy? or am I booking to late or to early? any thoughts or advice?
Thanks, Jim

i booked a few months ago for mid october and recd 232 fan club for a deluxe room at the portofino. i paid 188 for the same room just a year ago. we planned our trip around when the fan club rate was available. at the time most weekends in october had no deals, so that might be what you are finding now.

I specifically purchased an Entertainment book to get the discounts on my room in early August. From what I had read on these boards it provided the best discount. When I called to book my room not only did I find that the discounts were no longer that great but that on two days of my vacation the ENT rate actually went up another $30. I ended up buying an annual pass and booked a club room at PB for $258/night. This was the best price that I was able to find using all the different codes.
BTW, the ENT rate was for a Bay View room (not deluxe) at $202 for two nights and $232 for the other two nights.

My ENT rate wasn't as low as I hoped it would be but I still managed to knock a little over $30 a night off and that's helpful. It was better than the AAA rate and I don't have access to the Fan Club. I may have to consider getting the AP though.

I remember when ENT. Rates were better than any others and I always thought that that was wrong. I think APH should get the best deal. I have seen it where Florida resident rates and APH were the same but Fan Club was $5 cheaper? I haven't had any luck on the Loews site getting any rate codes to work.

Welcome to the boards. I think you should try calling rather than searching on the computer. Ask for EC, APH, FAN, AAA rates at the "Be a star" number. You have to get something less than 200. APH should be 140+/-. HHN is a factor though but this time of year the end of Oct. fills up first.
