Hi!

I'm thinking about buying one of these books.

(Special price $15 & free shipping on Mousesavers.com!)

Has anybody used their book while on their trip? Was it helpful? Did it actually save money?

Thanks for your input!

Jennifer

well, I havent gone yet LOL but I did just decide Sunday night to purchase the book- same as you- 15, free shipping, and the reason was...

We're staying in St Augustine for 6 nights after our WDW vaca, and the hotel I wanted to stay at was 121.00 advance purchase, non refundable.....but with then entertainment card it was 61.00 plus tax, no deposit, 100% refundable, 24 hour cancellation.... I saved $300 on just this...and when DH travels for business, he can use the card for hotels and car rentals regarless of where he is..

A lot of people here that live in larger cities, get the card for their home city, and use it in Orlando...the card for VT and NH don't offer much specific up here, no restaurants that I am anywhere near etc... so basically I've only purchased it for the Florida uses...so I purchased the Orlando one

Hi Katiebug!
We used it when we went in February and I would say I got my money's worth from it. We went to Jungle Jim's at Crossroads and a Burger King and maybe a couple of other places as well. I can still use the card here at home yet too, so I'd say it was worth it for me. We were there for two weeks though too. I guess it depends on how much you are going to be off property.

Just the $20 off National Car Rental coupon more than saved me the price of the book. After taxes it actually lowered my costs by $23+.

There are so many restaurant coupons and a few minor attractions that we may use. And there are other national coupons that can be used at home as well as the car itself.

If you prefer, you can order your local coupons book thru the Mousesavers link and still get the $10 off and free shipping.

Hello!

This is my first post but I have been reading the forums for about 4 weeks now. I have learned so much!

I am interested in purchassing the entertainment book as well and we live in Maine. We will be driving to Disney in June and plan to take about 3 weeks doing it (total). I am wondering if the hotel discounts / restaurants are region specific and if we should buy the NH book or Orlando book? We will be eating on the road of course, on the way down and will be staying in hotels at least part of the time we are on the road.

So, should we purchase the Orlando book or the regional (NH) book? We are staying off-site with my in-laws in a time-share villa exchange. Our dates of stay are June 19-26. Thank you!

Hello fellow Mainer! It’s a tough decision and one that you will have to make. Do you live close by where to NH where you could use the coupons? We purchased Orlando version because we don’t travel to NH more then twice a year on average and because we wanted coupons for Medieval times, some food places there and other minor attractions.

Hi!

(A nice surprise stay home from school day today!)

We live in Boothbay so NH is far enough away that we would likely not use many of the area coupons.

I did however, notice that there were a couple of restaurant/activity offerings that we might take advantage of.

I guess I am wondering if we would use more of the Orlando items however since we are staying off-site and we will likely eat at some of the places listed. I am most interested in the hotel discounts and wonder if they are better than AAA?

Thanks again!

I have both the Entertainment card and AAA. Living in Maine you need the AAA to help you start your car some mornings.

I found that Entertainment discounts wore usually more significant then those of AAA. However some places that don’t accept Entertainment card will do a AAA discounts and vice versa so I’m covered either way.

Are you planning on doing any minor attractions or dinner theaters in Orlando area? We did Medieval Times and the discount from that alone paid for our book, plus we got discount on our hotel, car rental, restaurants and some mini golf. My DH was so impressed with the amount of money we saved in December using the book that he agreed to take another trip in October just so we can use the book one more time before it expires November 1st.

In general, the Entertainment hotel rates are better than the AAA rates. I know that the hotels at Universal offer tremendous discounts using the Entertainment card, but they only set aside a small number of rooms at that rate. You can buy the Orlando book and use the card that comes with it to get hotel discounts anywhere.

If you follow the link on MouseSavers, you can preview the Orlando book. I live outside of Philly and purchased the Orlando book because it had more discounts that I would use than the Philly/Western Suburbs book had.

I won an ebay auction for a gift cert to Baskerville's (50% off food), which would have cost me about 14. total to purchase. I then ordered the Ent book. Since the Orlando Entert book had almost the same coupon, and only cost me 15 at the time, I purchased that instead (ebay seller said this was not a problem- I just asked if I could pay and get a different certificate instead) I didn't use any of the other discounts in the book (not for lack of trying; I wanted to go to Jungle Jim's, Checker's, etc, it just didn't happen). I felt I got my full value out of the book because using the Baskerville's discount paid for it, and I had the option of using the other discounts as well. I am wondering whether I should buy the book this time, or just purchase a membership for the month we are going? Same discounts?

Hey,at $15,if I use one coupon(buy one dinner, get one free),I'll break even. We'll have a car for our 2 week vacation and I know we will benefit from this book!

We are going to Gatorland and they have buy one get one free. It costs 19.95 per adult to get in, just with this one savings it pays for the book. We also got a great rate of 89.00 at the Holiday Inn Family Suites.

First of all did understand correctly. I can use the card in my NH book in Orlando and visa versa?? We got the Mass book, NH, and Orlando. I made sure that in each book I had at least 30.00 worth of useages right off the bat so I save double the money I put out and I will. I have already used 35 in just one of the books, not to mention the Wal-greens and Target coupons. BUT please remember to go on the website once you hve regestered your card. There are many more offers not listed in the book. The problem is that you need to pretty much go through the offers for each state that you have and open each one up to find out if it is one of the webstite offers AND you need to use the coupon within 2 wks of printing it. That said it is just frosting on the cake with us.

Second, PLEASE check out the Orlando Magic CARD. It is FREE. We used it last summer and saved over 60.00 on meals etc. While that is not hugely impressive it is like getting 60.00 for free!! Some of the stuff offered in Entertainment is also on Orlando Magic. Just go to the orlando magic website and tell them you want a card. WE used ours at Samba room once and it was 5.00 off each entree!!! Fifteen dollars off of one bill, that in itself is like getting a free Entertainment book. It is useful at the Hard Rock too.

OK, I'm going to see if I can 'splain this lucy, as ricky would say.....

In the front part of the book, there are 'sit-down' or full-service types of restaurants listed. Normally each page has 1 and it has a small menu printed, etc. Each of the restaurants has a # assigned to it which is listed on the page. When you take your card into these places, they mark the card so that # is used. I am not sure if they punch, or color it out or what. Now the card that is anchored in the book does not designate the region your book is for. So consequently if you have not used #27 at a restaurant in your home area, you could use it at one in Orlando, or Philly or wherever and then go back and use #42 at home. HOWEVER, you have the slight problem that w/o the Orlando book, you have no idea what restaurants are listed in the Orlando book or their corresponding #. If someone purchased the Orlando book and then posted a listing of the name/purchase requirements/location & number - you'd be in business. Does that make sense????

In the next part of the book is the 'fast-food' section. Example - we get Madison where DS goes to college. They have B1G1 for places like Damon's, Quidobas, Subway, etc. I think this will be a better value for us next year as DS has a cafeteria in his dorm this year. Next year when he has to cook himself this will be more appealing!!! Some things get a little specific like Subway - B1G1 Tuna Salad sandwich. Now if one of you likes that and one doesn't.......

I will get Madison again because if he uses one or two we have our $15 back. There are also a couple in Wis Dells for B1G1 mini-golf that help put us at a profit.

I may also purchase the Orlando one for the fast food places. I would expect that we will hit a few of those just to get off-site a bit.

just be aware of the end date for coupons for orlando if you are going after the end of October....

we found out the hard way last year....was there in november and most of the coupons expired at the beginning of november....

Approximately when will the January 2005 coupons be availabe? Is the book a yearly print or more often?
Thanks

at least it is available for the following year by November since we bought ours for this year ...from AAA at that time last year
