What a great idea. My DD9 would love to have a pen pal too. How many on the Dis are interested in pen pals for the kids. Last year in third grade the entire class had exchanged letters with a class from Texas. My DD loved it and was hoping she and her pen pal would keep in touch. Well, she never got a letter back from her and was disappointed.

It would be great to exchange letters with kids from other countries. Anyone on board from outside US, who's child would like a pen pal? PM me.

This is a great idea for a thread! My daughter would like a penpal from Denmark. She and I are going there for three months next year and she'd love to get to know a child from there! So if there are any Danes on this board who have children interested in befriending a 14 year old American girl, send me a PM!!!!

This is a great idea and a great skill for children to learn. My DD has written another child from the DIS. We would be up for another penpal.

I have a 9 yr old boy going in to grade 4 in French Immersion. I'm sure I could get him interested in writing to a pen pal in another country or our own.

I know my DD10 was interested. A child from another country would be neat. They could learn so much from each other. My mom was from Belfast Ireland. Anyone from there that would be interested?

I would be willing to run a penpal swap.

Kind of like the swaps we have on the board, but with penpals. I have kind of always wanted to do this! ( I used to dream of owning a dating service, so i could match people up! LOL)

Would that be easier? People could send me info on their child, age, grade, boy or girl, if your child has been to WDW more times than the Queen Mother had lived in years, or if they haven't had their first trip. what are their interests.

I can match the kids up based on age and interest. I will even ask you the parent, say your child has never been to Disney, but is going soon, you can let me know if you want them matched up with some other child that has never been or if you would prefer a more WDW experienced child.

Should I start a thread and get it going? You think there would be interest?

What a great idea!! When I was 10 my teacher went on holiday to Romania, she met a family there who's 11 year old DD wanted an English penpal. She asked me on her return and to make a long story short I've been writing to my friend (and then her younger sister as she grew older) for the last 13yrs We even managed to meet two years ago and it was amazing!

Here we are altogether in Dracula's Castle near Brasov, Translyvania:

I am in the middle, the two on my right are my penpals and the two on my left are my friend from England and my penpals Romanian friend who were there with us.

So yeah, I highly recommend ppl getting their children interested in correspondence and penpals!
