Bush has never proposed a draft.
Kerry never proposed a draft.
There are no plans to implement a draft.
Yet here and on TV I keep seeing people saying that there will soon be a draft.

Folks, the only bill proposing this never had a chance of passing in the house and it was never intended to. It was filed by a couple of democrats hoping to stir up trouble. No one, repeat, NO ONE is proposing a draft. It aint gonna happen. No way, no how. There is zero chance. Nill. Nada.

There is not going to be a draft.

OK, are we clear on this one? Yes? Then lets stop spreading fear by saying a draft is coming. Please?

Thanks

I hear you, but you may as well save your breath to blow soup....people just have it stuck in their heads that there is some sort of draft conspiracy....

darn, i was hoping for the draft,, maybe that way the government would admit that a guy with half his face torn up, missing the use of an eye,, nervee damage in right hand to the point its got no feeling, a metal ankle, and a back thats been broken at least twice,, was disabled:) and qualified for help..:)

No really! ::yes:: :wave:
No, he is only planning on drafting their pets. Send your hamsters to Canada if you dont want them to face enemy fire!

Oh yes, and they do plan to draft Elvis too, but I assumed everyone already knew that.

Otherwise, assuming you are not a Hamster or Elvis, you are not going to be drafted.

I posted an earlier thread on this scam, which was being spread by email to the college campuses. The bill was authored by Charlie Rangel (D-NY) and Ernest Hollings (D-SC), who is finally retiring. I wrote Hollings and told him I thought he should have devoted the time to fixing our public school system in SC instead of preying upon the fears of parents and their children. His children all went to private school, so it's not a priority of his anyway. This can be verified by visiting these politicians' websites.

The Draft issue was sent out by Democratics (McCullough) to sway (some say scare) the young voters into voting for Kerry, since many (not all) bi-partisian celebs were telling kids (over 18) to vote.

McCullough was afraid that by asking young voters to vote and not being able to track or poll via phone, they (KERRY) could lose the election based on this tactic.

Representative Charles B. Rangel (D) of NY was one of them who sponsored the draft bill, only to cause trouble. When the bill came to a vote this past fall he voted against it
 why only to cause trouble. Now the democrats are scratching there heads and wondering why they lost more seats in congress.

No kidding! The bill went before Congress and 2 people voted for it. TWO. That's it! Of all the Congresspeoples! Why do people think this could pass?

...and Rangel voted against his own bill! But that didn't stop the media from spinning it. After the bill's defeat the AP ran a story on it with the headline "Republicans Happy To Lose On Draft Bill" as if it was their idea. I also kept shaking my head on election day when reporters talked with college students about how "The Draft" was pushing them to vote for Kerry. So they were being influenced by something that doesn't exist! That's like saying they were voting for Kerry because of concern for "The Boogie Man".

Some lady from my home state was quoted on Boston.com as saying that she's voting for Kerry because she has draft-age sons. Lady...pick up a newspaper!!

Seriously...there needs to be some kind of current events test before you head into the polls.

1. A draft was last proposed in:

a. 1965
b. 1975
c. 1985
d. 2004

2. The party that proposed the bill was:

a. democrat
b. republican

3. The bill:

a. failed by a narrow margin
b. failed miserably because it's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly...it's really sad that she wasted a perfectly good vote for something that she knows nothing about.

This was the exact thing I needed to read today :teeth:

::yes:: I'm 24 and I've had to tell so many of my friends that there will not be a draft but hardly any of them will listen. Just goes to show you the power of the mainstream media.

They CAN'T draft Elvis. He is not eligible since he entered the Witness Protection Program after becoming a secret FBI informant for Richard Nixon.

Sheeeesh. I thought EVERYONE knew that..............

This bogus ''issue''was pushed bigtime by MTV, you wouldn't believe the spin they put on it...funny thing is, it still didn't bring out the young voters in droves.
