Enough time for MK mid-day break and dinner (Ft Wilderness)?

I scheduled in 240 minutes (4 hours) for the following:

Leave MK and head to FT (boat?)
Bus to cabin
Nap at FT for at least 1 - 1 1/2 hr
Travel to Contemporary for Contempo Cafe early dinner (boat?)
Eat at Contempo Cafe
Return to MK from Contemporary Resort (boat?)

Is this feasible? If DD naps for 1 1/2 hrs, that leaves 2 1/2 hours for transportation and QS dining. Is there a method better than boat transportation? Thanks!

Yes this is absolutely doable and boats are your best option! Though from the Contemporary resort you also have the option of walking to MK.

I want to say the extreme max length of time it took for us to get from MK gate back to our cabin at FW was 1hr and that was when we had to wait over 20mins for the boat, and then wait 10 or so minutes for the bus. More typically we would be from our cabin to the MK gates within about 35 minutes. If you are concerned for some reason just skip contempo cafe and eat QS at the Trail's End walkup counter (I THINK they have quick service options but double check...bbq sandwiches, yum! amongst others).

Twins mama covered this really well. I do highly recommend the cs at Trails End. They have great fried chicken, pizza, and more. There are a few picnic tables there outside and more down by the boat dock.

Thank you so much for your response! Great news! They changed the name to P and J's Southern Takeout, but it doesn't open for dinner until 4:30, and we hope to be heading back to the park by then.

I agree with twinsmama that you can walk to MK from CR. We did it for an early ADR when we cabbed to CR and walked over. Sidewalk the entire way and you come out where the buses drop people off at MK. We even walked to CR at park closing to cab back to our resort instead of waiting with the masses for the busses.

I considered walking, but thought my 4-turning-5 year old may need a break from being on her feet. How far would you say the walk is?

It is an easy 20 minute walk with a kid. However, I would invest in a rental stroller with a kid that age if you are questioning walking in a situation like this. Or bring your own! Our first trip, I had a 4 year old with no stroller. We had meltdowns. We rented a stroller the next year at 5. It helped on these sorts of boring walks. Also helps when you need to stand somewhere, sitting in one place helped him be able to walk further later.

You definitely need a stroller. Bring one, rent one, buy a $16 cheapo one and bring it...but your 4 year old will most definitely need a stroller, even with a 4 hour break. Also for help wrangling the 4 y.o.

There is not a boat route from the contemporary to MK. If you don't want to walk, you can ride the monorail. But you would have to ride the whole loop around to the Poly, Grand Floridian, then to the MK. Not sure how long that takes. The walk isn't bad. About 10 minutes.

I hadn't even considered a stroller, since she hasn't used one since she was 2. She's about 45 lbs and tall for her age, as well. The WDW rental strollers look huge and bulky! I guess I'll be looking into stroller recommendations..

Definitely look at a stroller. I have a young 4yo & 5yo. They have only used a stroller for two places since turning 3yo - the zoo and WDW. They use the stroller for 1/3 to 1/2 the day at WDW, depending on their energy level and crowds.

I actually like the WDW rental strollers, very easy to maneuver and great for older kids. There are several other companies that do rentals for disney. Look at the costs of rentals versus the cost of buying a new one...which you can then resell, usually for at least half of the value since it will have only been used once. Or, if you think you will be returning again over the next 2 years, save it for those trips.

We rented from Orlando stroller rentals when my youngest was in kindergarten. They have some strollers with 65 or 75 lb weight limit. They deliver to the resort and pick it up there when you're done with it. The good thing about an outside company is you have it outside the parks too. The Disney rentals are only for in the parks.

Caved and bought a stroller!

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/sto...-in-greenwich-green/1043850068?skuId=43850068 50 lb weight limit.

I bought a gift card for BB&B on raise.com and used a 20% off coupon so ended up paying about $50 for the $80 stroller; it would have been over $60 to rent one for the length of our stay, although it would have been a higher quality stroller. She weighed 43 lbs this morning, so even if she gains 5 lbs in the next 90 days (doubtful) she'll be under the 50 lb weight limit, even if she outgrows it soon. Hopefully since we're using it briefly and it's value is $80 I can get almost my money back for it. :)
