Enough Pool at SSR after Phase 3?

Just wondering if everyone thinks there will be enough pool "space" to go around after SSR builds out phase III? Our family goes "home" for the first time ever this September, so I guess I'm asking the folks that have been there already?

There probably will not be enough space at the feature pool to accommodate the full resort development on some peak days. However there are two smaller pools planned throughout the resorts, and there will certainly be some sort of pool attached to this "Phase 3". What is unknown at this point is whether the new development will add another feature pool or just one of the "quiet" pools.

The themed main pool is on the smaller side. I don't think it is big enough for Phases I and II.

The addition of phase 3 is another 4 or is it 6 buildings, there is a single them pool for the original 12 buildings and quiet pools for the groups of 4, so yes I do see another quiet pool or 2, but not another themed pool and I do also expect it to be crowded too.

The original plan called for 12 buildings to be serviced by 3 pools--two "quiet" pools and the High Rock Spring feature pool.

Of those original 12 buildings, here are my thoughts:

The 4 buildings that face Downtown Disney essentially have their own quiet pool. They are moderate walking distance from High Rock Spring.

Another 4-5 buildings are in very close proximity to High Rock Spring. These buildings are adjacent to the common area buildings, and have the easiest access to the main pool.

The rest of the buildings are moderate-to-far distance from High Rock Spring, but will have a close quiet pool.

Given the lay of the land, any new construction would have to be considered quite far from High Rock Spring--at least 10 minutes on foot. And, I think there could well be occupancy issues at HRS given the size of the resort.

In another thread, I made some comments about the fact that the DVC sales center is now at Saratoga Springs. They certainly don't want people to arrive for a tour and find High Rock Spring packed to the gills. For that reason alone, I'll be surprised if they don't build this Phase 3 (six more buildings) with some sort of an upgraded pool--at least something that falls between HRS and a quiet pool in quality.

Hee hee. While on our MH Preview tour of SSR, our tour guide (a DVC Sales Manager with quite the sense of humor) told us that they've dropped the phrase "quiet pool" in favor of "leisure pool" because "sometimes those pools are anything but quiet!"

Oops, forgot to agree with tjkraz: not only do I think that they'll have an upgraded pool, but I suspect they may have a little more common infrastructure - maybe another arcade, bigger laundry, food court. Since SSR was designed for 12 bldgs, and will be up to 18, that's be quite an overload on the planned common areas....

We stopped by SSR during our recent BCV stay (the week after member homecoming). We were very surprised at the size of the pool and the size of the main hotel lobby. Given the large scale of the resort and number of rooms, both areas seemed very small. Eventually with 800 or so units occupied, I cannot imagine the common areas of that resort reasonably supporting that many people. For one thing, there is not much parking up by the common area. Imagine all of those people arriving and trying to check in on popular days! I think this will need to be addressed in the future or it will lead to many complaints.

Indeed there could, and they are posted.

Whether or not they will be enforced is another matter, but the last item on the pool regulations sign at HRS says "Bathing Limit - 100"

the 100 person limit has more to do with health reasons than for space. With the volume of water you have to displace a certain amount of bacteria and pee. chemicals can only do so much. I bet that DVC figures that everyone is going to be pool hopping to OKW when the slide gets built.

I am hoping they will revamp and add at least one extra "leisure" pool (they could use two with the new expansion announcement).

Even without the new expansion buildings, in the exisiting plans it appeared that two of the buildings were quite a ways from any of the pools.................
