I'm here at Disney now. This is my first solo trip and I just wanted to report that it's awesome. If you ever have a chance to go alone I highly recommend it. I wasn't sure what to expect but it's a whole different experience then being with people. I'm really enjoying it

I developed a theory about Disneyland back in the 60s that is still true today. It goes like this:

If I visit Disneyland solo and spend 12 hours there I will go on 20 rides.
If I take my girlfriend with me and spend 12 hours we will go on 15 rides.
If we bring her two kids and spend 12 hours we will go on 10 rides.
If we also bring her parents and spend 12 hours we will go on 5 rides.

Glad you are having a good time solo! I go solo for most of my trips, and I find I enjoy those much more than the trips where I am traveling with other people. Not that I have a bad time when I go with others, but it's so liberating to only do what you want to do, instead of having to take a poll about every ride, restaurant and restroom stop. In my experience, it's also easier to change FP+ on the fly when you are solo, so if I wake up and decide to change which park I am going to, many times I can get the very popular FP+ same day.

I know there are people who think that a solo trip would be lonely, but I've never found that to be an issue either. If I feel like connecting with others, I can talk to CMs or other tourists, or send messages to friends (and make them jealous :thumbsup2).

I had a solo trip in Feb last year. It was such an awesome experience!! I agree that it is liberating! I spent 3 days park hopping and enjoying my time! I hope to go solo again someday!

How Awesome! I would love to have just even 1 day by myself seems I always have to do what the kids and husband want to do. LOL

Not sure about a solo trip but I do want to try a non-family trip. I do enjoy it when I have a morning to myself while the family is off doing their own thing. But by the time lunch hits I get little lonely.

although i do seem to be enjoying myself all alone on ToT

Have a great time. I'm solo for most of my visits living almost right next door to the parks. At least until my wife retires too.

Solo trips are so fun! Happy to hear you're having a good time. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

In other news, I legitimately think I might have gone to H.S. with you. :wave2: Sorry if that was super creepy for me to point out.

That's great to hear!!! I leave for my first solo Wednesday!!! I cannot wait. It's always been a dream t do solo.

I would LOVE a solo trip! My family wants to swim by 2:00. I make sandwiches in the room...I mean, if I'm going to be in there anyway...Last trip, I did leave them for a couple of hours and wandered around Epcot, by myself. We were staying at Boardwalk, so, I just slipped away while they were resting.

Little secret; you don't have to do what they want to do. With enough gentle conversation and ahead-of-time planning, you could go off and do something YOU want to do, giving the kids and husband time on their own.

In my family, since there's just the one kid, this is referred to as Man Time. They do something together while I do something else. I took a few solo trips to DLR so they had Man Time at home.

Since I homeschool DS I spend quite enough time with him...since DH travels for work, and even when "in town" he commutes something like 3 hours total per day, he and DS do NOT spend anywhere near enough time together. So solo + dad time is a good thing for us.

First time I rode a certain ride at Disneyland it was when hubby and son got tired of the rain faster than I did, and went on back to the hotel room. That couple hours was my first glimpse into solo trips, and it was beautiful.

I am headed for a solo trip in a month. I like wandering around and doing my own thing. Disney is the one place I feel I can go and feel safe as a solo traveler.

This is awesome to hear! Glad you are enjoying it! I will be going without my family this year so I will be somewhat solo. I will be meeting a friend in wdw in Nov. But I am staying at POFQ solo for 10 days! I have heard nothing but great things about solo trips. ::yes::

This past November when I went with my family, I had the most fun and relaxing times when I went off on my own. LOL I just like doing things I like to do without worrying about anyone else. :thumbsup2

Wonderful! I love my solo trips and may be going alone to F & W this Fall. Have a blast!
