Next year before the med cruise we would like to fly into England for a few days do the chunnel to Paris then overnight train to Barcelona. I don't even know where to begin to find what hotels in England/Paris would be half way decent not to expense in a good area. Also to do DLP where would be the best place to get pricing info. Please help!!!!! :confused3 :confused3

hi :wave2: In England the premier travel inn is reasonably good and prices are around £50 per room. It is basic however they are Clean and rooms are nice, I regularly use them. If you want some thing better than they is always the Holiday Inn.
As for Paris..do you want to stay at DLRP or in Paris City centre? If you choose to stay at DLRP the Euro star goes to DLP once a day from London or Kent. DLRP is 35 minutes on the train from Paris so it is pretty easy to get too if you stay in Paris. I guess the best thing to do would be to check out hotels on something like expedia and then you would get a better Idea, They have the Disney hotels and also cheaper hotels in the area of DLP and Paris which are located near the main train line.
For tickets check out the official Disneyland Paris website. you don't usually find the tickets cheaper at other places like wdw tickets.

Good luck with your planning

Here is a link to the official DLP site. And have a look at this thread for some other useful information. :)

Is the Holiday Inn near the sites in England. How do I get around as I probably will not be renting a car. It Paris accessible from DLP instead of bouncing from hotel to hotel in Paris if I stay at DLP hotel I won't be renting a car there either.

Hi Carol. I can give you a fellow American's view although the Europeans can give you the best info.

We just went to Paris at the end of Feb-beginning of March. We stayed at the Citadines Aparthotel on the Seine. The location was awsome!! My DH was in meetings on some days and I was able to walk a bunch of places and find my way back easily because the hotel is located about 2 blocks from Notre Dame one way and 2 blocks from the Louvre (sp?) the other. For seeing Paris city sites this location couldn't be beat. If you want to stay at DLP we spent 3 days at the DL hotel which is right at the entrance to the park. Again, location, location, location! THere is a train stop (I think it's called the RER) right between the entrances to downtown Disney and Disney Studios. We never used it from there but I do know that it was easy to use when we used it to get from the airport to Paris and around town. One tip: have 1 and 2 euro change so that you can buy your ticket from a machine. The wait is much shorter.

We tried to take the Eurostar over to London for the day for 120 euros round trip but because we didn't buy our tix in advance the price was going to be 450. OUCH! Needless to say, we didn't go so I can't help you with that one.

My DH just got back from Barcelona. I will try to remember to check with him to see if he has any tips for you.

Enjoy!!

Hi :wave2: here is the link for the holiday inn
Holiday Inn

They are holiday inn in london in which you can easily use public transport.

Here is a link for Transport information.

Transport for london

Also try here

Getting the train(RER) from DLP to Paris or paris to DLP depending on where you stay, takes about 35minutes.
You can buy a ticket called the "Paris Visite" which enables you to get on and off the train and tubes/subway all day.

Try this site here and look for hotels in the Westminster/Victoria/Waterloo areas. All the major tourist attractions are easily accessible from these areas.

Have you decided which sights you would like to see yet? This website here may be of some help to you. :)

ETA: here is a link for the premier travel inn at London County Hall. It is right by the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey and is probably about the closest place to stay to the Eurostar terminal.

Does anyone know how reliable/safe the overnight train from Paris to Barcelona is ? Most of our group (about 20 - 30 people) would be booking the first or second class sleepers . Thanks !

Disneyelf hopefully someone can help regarding the train journey.
I have to say that Paris and Barcelona are my two favourite European cities :goodvibes

I don't know if this will be of any use, but this page gives a bit of useful information. It might also be worth doing a Google search.

About 14 years ago, my DH and I travelled on a sleeper to and from Munich, and it was wonderful!! We felt quite safe and, as I recall, the trains left exactly when they were suppose to.

Hi Ware
How is the Explorers hotel it looks great
We are quite happy with it hence we have booked for our third stay! We find it very clean and comfortable and as we only use our room to sleep in that is all we need.
Just in case you missed this thread earlier. :)

In London I stayed at a Thistle Hotel which seems to be a british chain and I was overwelmingly surpised to find it satisfactory. I don't remember the exact price but it was on the cheaper side and they are all over london. I find London a little spread out but really easy to get around by bus or tube.

I just stayed at explorers and again was thrilled with what I got for the price. There are some fancier hotels but they come with a higher price tag.

I would stay in Paris to get more of the feel for the country, otherwise you are just at disney. The train out to disney is pretty easy to catch and that way you will see paris as well. I have taken the eurostar to paris from london and there's not much to say, it was quick and efficient very pleasant journey.

I have done it on a Spanish train and it was great. It is all sleeper cabins. As there are enough of you you can book the cabins so they are just for you they sleep up to 4 pax

We stayed there last Sept. I thought the hotel was very good, especially if you have kids. You can get a 6-sleeping crew room which has 2 doubles and a seperate small room with bunk beds. The pool is also a hit with the kids mainly because of 2 slides. The only negative was breakfast, which wasn't terribly good quality, and was a bit of a crowded free-for-all.
It might be worth checking out the other hotels in the same area:
Movenpick Dream Castle:
http://www.moevenpick-hotels.com/hotels/HKPARYY/
Holiday Inn:
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/pardi
They are both along the same road as the Explorers and served by the same shuttle buses.
We just got back from a trip and stayed at the Holiday Inn. I found that superior to the Explorers in terms of quailty of accommodation and service. The breakfast was better too, with more choice, and we weren't made to book a time. The pool didn't have any slides, though. We got a 'Kidsuite' which was similar to the Explorers room, but much bigger, though it only had a king bed and seperate bunk bed room.
Also check the reviews on Tripadvisor:

Hope this hasn't been too ling-winded. :)
