End of March or End of April 2009

Sorry to beat such a dead horse on this one.

Just getting into my 2009 planning stage and am at an impass.

Which do you more experienced DVCer's *think* will be less crowded in 2009: end of March (29th-April 4th) or end of April (19th-May25th; week directly after Easter).

The reason I'm getting to skeptical is that we'll have a 3.5yr old and almost 1yr old and would rather have the lower crowds, of course.

From the recent trip reports the end of March this year has been really really decent and the weather has been great for swimming as well which has made me start to think about the end of March.

This will be the first time that we've considered March or April as we usually go in the low season.

Thoughts?

Probably a wash since end of March will be spring break time, and the week after Easter is often very busy.

Definitely not that week in April! Many NE schools have that week off for Spring break. I would choose the March week.

I did a poll a couple weeks ago on school breaks. There might be other influences in crowd levels but this is a major one.

Thanks for doing this again! Our district tried a couple of years ago to do SB 2 weeks before Easter, well that lasted one year. Too many people complained. Though I think with the state playing around with testing dates and the fact they can't seem to figure out Easter moves ever year, we might end up with a fixed SB not around Easter. We're off the week of 4/6 next year, instead of 4/13 because the school likes to have the kids back in the "routine" a couple of weeks before state testing. Testing has been the last week of April.

April 19 is not the week directly after Easter--Easter is April 12, so the week after is April 12-19.
Our break is the week before Easter, so I'm trying to figure out whether to do down Friday 4/3, Saturday 4/4 or Sunday 5/5--but if we go Sunday we fly home Easter!

April 19 to April 25 should be less crowded, by somewhat, than that late March to early April week. That late March to early April week is a set spring break week for a lot of schools that don't follow the always-around-Easter for spring break rule.

Although it's true that late March is a spring break for some, so is the week of April 19th. I know Mass. always has the week of Patriot's Day off, along with some (including our) NY school districts.

Well I'm glad to see that according to the poll, only 10% of the schools will be on break dring my first trip to WDW, April 20 - 30, 2009. I can't wait

OP - we're going to be at HHI March 29 - April 3rd. It is spring break for our kids (we live in FL). There was plenty of availability when we booked two weeks ago.

Ultimately go with one you want because both will be pretty crowded.

Not to burst any bubbles here...last year I specifically booked my spring vacation 6 weeks past Easter! Well, THE WHOLE MONTH OF APRIL was INSANE!! I went the 3rd week, weather beautiful, resort beautiful, parks AWEFUL!!! First week of May it will be for me from now on! I know this thread is on HHI, but if Florida is any indicator....

We were there last year April 27 - May 1 and it was great. Weather was awesome and it really wasn't crowded. My daughter loved it so much that week that we are going again the same week April 26 - May 3rd. I am hoping it will be the same although Easter is in April this year.
