Hey

I am thinking about going around Jan 29th.. just wondering if anyone knows if there was a deal at that time this past Jan? wondering what the crowds are like? weather.. being from ontario.. I am sure its warmer! LOL.. and air prices.. we usually get a good deal flying out of Buffalo, just not too sure about the weather.. .Any comments about that time of the year would be great.. or suggestions.... oh... booking dining.. is it still 180 days out?

Thanks Sarah  :thumbsup2 :cool1: :dance3: :rolleyes1

We were there this past February 1st-9th 2008. The crowds were low. Temperature 26-30 C during the day, 15-18 C at night. Only rain was Friday for a couple of hours that I recall.

We flew from Bangor for 1275.00 (5 People). Halifax was close to 4000.00

We will be there January 30 - February 14 2009.

The mouse savers web site list the end of Jan to mid Feb as one of the better times to go....

"Second week of January through mid-February. It's cool (sometimes even a bit cold) at this time of year. This is one of the least busy times of year and hotel prices are lower. However, usually some rides will be closed for refurbishment at this time of year. The first week of January can be busy due to extended holiday vacations and the Walt Disney World Marathon. Avoid any holiday weekends."

I'm up for cooler weather if it means less people....

I went last year, the last week of Jan into Feb. It has to be my favorite time to be there. The hotels are quiet, as are the restaurants. The parks were so quiet that we walked straight on to every ride even the biggies. It was a big contrast from just being there this year over the 4th of July.

The only thing was the cheerleading competions are going on then. I think they run mainly over the weekends with a few spill over days and they stay at the AllStars. There were a few times that we had to deal with some VERY obnoxious people. Also, they hold some of the competion inside DHS so Indian Jones was closed as well as something else that right now I can't remember and the kids completely take over all the washrooms in that area.

Historically, there have been excellent airfare prices for Jan. and Feb. Last year I paid $135CAD per roundtrip ticket including all taxes. The exchange rate at that time was about 13%.

I think I would still be inclined to book ADR's as far ahead as possible. You have to if you are looking for CRT or other hot ticket places.

Been the first week of Feb in 2007, cool most days from 60's-low 70's. Mornings and evening we needed coats on a few days(morning temp were in the 30's  ) But the crowds were great.
Need to watch for Superbowl crowds the weekend of (not sure exact dates) but the fri-mon jan 29th ish, ) people are saying to expect it to be very busy.

As for dining, there has been a change recently. no 180 days for after Jan 7 or about. Then it will revert to 90 days after that. so you won't be able to book for jan until Oct. It is temporary as they are doing some changes and will revert to 180 days .

Always gone down either last week of Jan up to the Presidents day weekend and had no problems. Weather can be a little cool in the morning and night - still shorts were the only attire required. Hit and miss with the rain, overnight early morning or the odd day that was rainy. Only one of the water parks is usually open. Already booked for 2009. Usually fly out of Buffalo non stop no problems with the weather in Buffalo. Any questions PM me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the SuperBowl bringing alot of people to the WDW area. The average NFL fan can't afford to go to the game, or even get a ticket to the game. Most tickets are bought by large companies looking to give them to their best customers/clients.

The SuperBowl is more of a guy getaway then a family trip, with the boys going to the game on Sunday.

p.s. I was in Disneyland when San Diego last hosted the Superbowl and the parks were dead on game day.

just my .02

We went Jan 28th a couple of years ago and it was COLD! We never got in the pool the entire week and some mornings it was in the 50's! Even FROST! Crowds were pretty good but not DEAD....I don't think Disney ever has DEAD anymore. There were still 20-30 min waits for the main attractions midday. I remeber we would take the Sasagoula boat to and from DTD to POFQ and I wished we had parkas in the evenings! Definatley take hats and gloves for the evening fireworks!

That being said, it you go before President's day, you usually find a deal. we had purchased the basic 4 day - no hooper or plu and they upgraded it to a hopper with 2 plus options for free!

We have always gone in Jan/Feb. Low crowds except MK on Sundays> Cheerleaders close Indian Jones Thurs-Sun in HS

We like to go in the Jan/Feb timeframe and generally find it pretty good, but I will second the comment about the cheerleading teams...most are well behaved but it only takes one bad team to tar the rest.

The parents were actually worse than the kids....the mothers in particular.
