Does anybody know when this incentive might end? We wanted to buy more points but we are in the process of buying a new house. Once we sell, we will have the $$ to pay straight out and not finance. This may not happen until January though. My guess is this may be through the end of this year? Since they are giving away the 2005 points? Will they give us notice?

Any insight would be helpful.

someone here should know.

call your guide and explain your situation to her/him.

they can do the paper work and I think just date it to when you are ready.

or at the least call you when DVC says time is up!

When we put our deposit down, I told our Rep we were planning a Dec vacation and would like to tour and do the paperwork then. She told me that the 15% incentive wouldn't be available when we came down, so it must end before December 20th. Perhaps Nov 30th? Although, she said once we put down the $500 deposit, our incentive was locked in. So... I would ask your rep (or call and get one if you don't have one!) how long you can wait to sign the contract.

Alternatively, if you sign the contract as late as possible with Disney financing, you can still pay it off at any time. There are no penalties for doing so, even if you paid it off a month after buying it. HOWEVER, if your mortgage is not finalized yet, check with your loan officer to make sure it won't blow your home. Once you've been approved and the paperwork's in process, you're good to go. But just let your broker know what you're thinking if you decide to go ahead before Jan and get the discount.

We're saving over 3000, so you may find that's a lot to pass up to wait an extra month or two.

When we did the tour on Sunday, our rep told us we had until Thursday to get the 15%..

Interesting... these are the first clues we've had that the incentive ends soon. Cara Sue, is that this Thursday the 17th? I wonder if the guide was just exerting a little high pressure? I wouldn't be surprised if the incentive ends soon but usually when an end date is near the guides all get on the horn to those people they have that are on the fence and let them know it is time to SOGOTP.

On edit: Hey! Fifteen hundredth post! :sunny:

Uaually the incentives end at the end of the months - per our guide.... maybe it's ending early due to Thanksgiving?

What the heck is SOGOTP??

In the interests of good taste I will paraphrase: Kindly relieve yourself or remove yourself from the commode.

I've been trying to reach my guide for a couple days. He just left a return message today, describing the 15% incentive and all the extras. He did not mention that it was about to end.

This sounds like the 3-day waiting period that is going along with the 15% deal. It's a way of putting the pressure on unsure buyers(like myself) -although I did end up buying. Our 3-days got extended a week because our guide was on DCL and wouldn't be around the following week, so we appreciated that extra time.

If you do the in-person, on-site DVC tour, the time frame to take advantage of any incentive is limited. Others have been "caught" by this. They wanted time to think about it, went home and let the deadline go by, thinking it didn't matter - that Disney would give them the incentive later. Didn't happen, even though the incentive was still available to others.

That is a whole separate thing from how the long the particular incentive program itself will last.

If they don't already know, the guides will be told ahead of time when the current incentive will disappear - at least I recall finding out here (ahead of time) the date when a particular incentive will end, and I m sure the source was a guide.

The best advice is to calll your guide and ask to be notified when the current incentive will end so that yo can get in on it.

Best wishes -

I've always thought it odd that those who show up in person for a tour and presentation are basically punished by having a shorter time to make the decision. I guess that is sales.

There was a pretty good incentive last spring before the price increase.. I think it was $10 off.. and yes, I did get a message from my guide updating me on when the incentive was ending. I got about a week or two of notice.

Sunday + 1 day = Monday; Monday + 3 days = Thursday.

Looks to me like the standard "you have three days after the toour to commit..." language. That is the big problem with taking the tour: the incentive is shortened.
The OP is looking for an add-on, and I suspect that we will have until month-end this month or next (probably next) to tkae advantage of the incentive.

To the OP: When we did an add-on in August 2004, we talked to our guide and put down our deposit in mid-August, but did not end up signing everything until early October. They knew we were going to do it, and just cut us some slack while we figured out all the details. Another option is to take the financing, and just pay it off when you get the free cash; perhaps use your Disney Visa for this early payoff and get the rewards points.

PumpkinBoy, I didn't take a tour, just spoke by phone, and was told if we waited until Dec 20th to tour the property the incentive would have ended. The way she said it, was like it'll be long gone by then. If anyone wants to get in on it, I would be safe and assume a Nov 30 end date. And PumpkinBoy is also right, as long as you have made that deposit you've locked in your incentives.

yep - he said it was just the 3 day thing... so I have to decided by tomorrow!! EEK!

Ok, I thought this was the funniest thing I've heard in weeks...guess I need to get a life :rotfl2:

I just got a card in the mail yesterday offering the 15% discount on SSR so I'd guess the promotion is still good for awhile. I guess DVC saw that I missed 2 resale contracts due to ROFR. Not really interested in SSR as a home resort.

funny, I just received our card in the mail yesterday also. I didn't think we were going to get one, didn't wait for it either to add on. ;)

Just left a message for my guide but I was so curious I called the regular info line. As far as the CM could tell me, there is no date set to end this incentive. He said to check with my guide specifically but that is what he knows.
