End of incentive? - UPDATE IN #25

Ok, I thought this was the funniest thing I've heard in weeks...guess I need to get a life :rotfl2:

Me too, LOL. Really, I laughed out loud! :rotfl:

I hate to disagree with most of you but our guide said that this promotion would probably be here for a while because they just spent alot of money to advertise it and it appears to be doing quite well. I also heard the next vacation club resort would probably be announced later in 2006!

Think it's just to get you to buy quickly. But, on the other hand, my guide did say that they get no notice of when an incentive will end - they just tell them in that morning's meeting that it is finished.

I am lucky - being from the UK and not allowed to do Disney finance over the phone, they have agreed to lock in the 15% off discount until my December trip. Am so excited - better exchanges rates mean it's costing me no more to buy 200 points than it did for 150 points almost five years ago!

The only thing is now - do I take the finance over 1 year or 10. Want to pay it off in one year but people do say take the ten, incase you can't pay quick enough. I earn good income - but i am self employed, so ten years and paying extra each month would make sense but I hate paying the extra interest. Has anyone done this before - getting the ten year and paying quicker. Can you pay the extra amounts over the phone with Visa each month?

Forgot to say - it isn't just the June useyear available - my guide said he would be able to get me August useyear - so if you want a particular use year do ask.

FINALLY my guide called me back. They don't know when the incentive is ending. He said if I send for the papers and put down the $500 I can hold the papers until I sell my house. Now I have to call Disney Chase to see if that $500 is available with the 0% for 6 months!

LilGrumpyGirl, it is! We just got our current statement and our deposit is listed separately on there as "Promotion" with a 6 mo end date. We plan on paying the whole down payment that way, who couldn't use 1% of their down payment back? :)

I would not be surprised if the incentive went for awhile. The incentive prior to the 15% was a $7 reduction in price, 100 free developer points and no dues for 2005. Based upon a $10 per point value this brought the cost down to around $79 per point. Based upon the reasle boards it appears that there were people who added on points in the hope of getting a free vaction with plans on selling them when the points returned to $98 per point. Disney was losing sales because they were competing against the resellers who were willing to sell in the $80 to make a profit and capture the developer points. By selling at the current incentive rate of $83.30 that took the re-sellers out of the the market. It appears that there are a lot of Saratoga points up for re-sale on the board. Just a thought.

I did not tour SSR but instead called DVC. I was down at WDW and saw the DVC kiosk everywhere but never had time to visit, so I called when I got home.

2 Things - My guide said the 15% discount was modeled on the Employee Discount programs that Ford and GM did this past summer. He said its been a very successful program and at some point this month they will end it - he pointe d out that were already on quota for sales so this 15% discount was simply a pilot program (he also said it was not advertised to the general public, only to DVC members). He did say that DVC may launch this program again sometime next year. Whether this is true, who knows, but thats what he said.
The 2nd point: I was told last week that if I sign up I can get June 1st as my User Year date. This week I was told that they are no longer offering the June 1st daet but are now offering August 1st (I can still get June since it was offered to me already). He did say the August date would not last for long since they really don't need to do it in order to close business.

I'm brand new to DVC and I'm not sure if these are typical sales incentives or something once in a blue moon buit regardless, I thought the whole DVC package was a very good deal
