After much hemming and hawing we decide to make MGM our first park of the trip. Liz is helping me to remember using her outfits as a memory aid. This was her Tinkerbell top day. The drive from the Renaissance World Gate wasnt bad at all. Maybe 20 minutes door to security check. The given wait time for Tower of Terror was 20 minutes so Sam and I hopped in line while Liz got FastPasses for Rock-n-Rollercoaster. Once again Sam tried the penny trick and once again he probably beaned some poor tourist below with the errant coin. We all noticed something new. In the elevator shaft, as we dropped, we saw figures from the preshow done-up in frosted glass. Is this new or have we just been incredibly obtuse lo these many years?
After the Tower we strolled over to the big hat and wandered around before riding the Great Movie Ride and got hijacked by Gomer Pyle in a cowboy suit. A word about this ride. There were two lines but everyone, and I mean everyone, was filing through the left hand side. Wait on the left looked to be about 15-20 minutes, the right was a walk on. We breezed on through collecting dirty looks from the lefties as we went along. Well, excuse us for paying attention bucko. We followed up the Movie ride with a trip through One Mans Dream which I enjoyed very much. It was also nice to be in the air conditioning, it's steamy out. Used our FastPasses for Rock-n-Rollercoaster next. Great fun walking past all the sweaty masses in the standby. The ride wasnt bad either. Sam found a new loop that hed never experienced before. Way to be on the ball there Sam.
Park getting hotter, stickier and more crowded with time so we depart in favor of a trip to Typhoon Lagoon. This was a great, wonderful inspired idea! The park was open til 7:30 and by 5:00 pm the crowds were all somewhere else. We rode all of the slides(except Humunga Cowabunga-Ill get to it the next time I need an industrial strength wedgie) and did the Shark Reef four times. This is my favorite thing in any water park and is way up there in any park period. It was super great this time. No crowds meant that we could take our time and snorkel slowly through the reef. I highly recommend a late afternoon visit to the water parks.
7:30 pm
Happily tired out we exit Typhoon Lagoon. We make a quick trip through the drive thru and head home where we eat , watch Shrek on TV and conk out. All in all a very nice last first day.
