putting our 15 month old to sleep after the night. we have a 4 yr old who i won't have a problem with at all but i'm afraid he will want to be up b/c we will be up, etc. AHHH! i wasn't nervous until today and this has been planned for a year! i don't know if he will sleep in the pack and play there, or crib if he can see us walking around, shutting drawers, going to the bathroom,e tc. (and pls no one tell me that i shouldn't be bringing a 15 month old in the first place...). any advice or tips to put me at ease would be very welcomed. we only have one room...can't afford to have 2 or a suite of some kind. thanks so much!

Stop, breathe, relax. Days are long, and little one's "usually" sleep well. I know that you will want to get set for the next day, but take a little time to relax, put the tv on for white noise for the little one. Once they fall asleep, I am sure if they are used to normal noise, you can do your organizing then, if not, just re-arrange your mornings to accomodate the day. Now once again, stop, breathe, and relax!

Usually mine were asleep or half asleep by the time we hit the room and slept thru us being in the room (and they were light sleepers at home) Another trick is if they aren't asleep when you get to the room or don't seem very sleepy, change them get their jammies on and the put them in the stroller and take a nice quiet walk around the resort. They will be tired and it will be calming and vola they will be asleep in no time. This will also give you time to get your older one ready for bed or asleep while the other parent goes for the stroll. It is actually a nice way to wind down yourself.

We always only get one room for the 4 of us no matter what age the kids have been. Disney is so tiring we almost always went to sleep pretty much when the kids did, but we never came back early either we just let them fall asleep in the stroller and kept going.

I agree, my 2 year old was the one I was worried about. We let him take his blanket from home and he was so tired that he didn't care that we were doing things around him while he was in bed falling asleep. He was so exhausted from being on the go all day and the excitement he pretty much passed out each night.

I've gone with little ones. I'm guessing your main fear is that you're all going to be in 1 hotel room?

This is what has worked for us....DH goes out for a walk/swim or to get a drink and sit outside and read the paper. We do our 'regular' nightly routine - PJ's, teeth, story, song...Then put the kids down in whatever bed is theirs in the room (pack n play, etc). Then I turn off all the lights and just keep a flashlight or book light on with me so I can read my book on my bed (if you really have problems - could always just read in the bathroom to keep it completely dark in there.

When the kids get up (which since it is different than usual - they likely will at first) - I just remind them 'Lay down - it is time for sleep'. And after a couple times I just ignore them completely...They will be TIRED and sit/lay down themselves after a few minutes of no attention.

After they are asleep I can turn the TV on low volume. But usually I don't even want to cuz I'm so exhausted too.

We did this too.....it really works if you keep the room dark/quiet as they are
settling to sleep. After they are asleep, it was fine to turn a light/tv on.
