"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

Ohhhh, I actually sighed when I saw the UK chalk drawing for Walt's birthday!!!! REDEMPTION!!! Hahahah. Someone mentioned Walt's birthday on MY trip and I thought to myself, where were you ON his birthday?! LOL. I will be talking about it in my just-started trip report, so pop on over! How is that for shameless self-promotion? :rolleyes1

I'm so glad the DisMeet with Brenda and Em was amazing! How fun for all of you. And you got to hang out with Wendy, too. So cool!!!!

I've been to the Grand Floridian twice now, both times for afternoon tea. It is so elegant, and both times the first thought in my head was "I am not nearly fancy enough to be sitting here." Those Christmas pictures are making me drool... between that tree and the gingerbread house. *sigh*

Seriously Disney, you really might want to re-think the color scheme you have going on there… There are children present.

:rotfl: I stood right in front of this less than 48 hours ago and I didn't even notice! Oh my goodness. I have tears in my eyes!!!

It must be an awesome experience to have even just seen some of the taping of the parade!

seriously that stepsister should have been "friends" with a princess…she seriously must be incredibly like the stepsister because she does not look it.

No matter if the food is good or not, the ambiance makes be our guest a must-do for me. At christmas the decorations make it even better!

Update time:woohoo: First of all I love the title of your new post "CHARACTER MEETS AND HOLIDAY TREATS, THAT'S WHAT MVMCP IS MADE OF" really creative :thumbsup2 and yes that sign about the event being sold out is so funny:lmao:
Wow your pictures with the taping are cool. We had played with the idea of popping in the next day for the parade taping just to say we were there but I do not have the patience to watch take after take. Oh my goodness it would have driven me mad! That's cool that you got to see Laura Spencer though. If it was still Kelly Ripa doing this I probably would have made sure to be there because I love her!
Pirates of the Caribbean overlay with Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho:rotfl2: Nice. They shoud have also changed the fog with Blackbeard to Santa pirate:
Planking.....good grief is that even still a thing? I thought that died around the same time as the Harlem Shake....boy how I DO NOT miss that :crazy2:
Awww dancing Barbara....I still have not had the opportunity to meet this fantastic woman! But I see her on so many TRs lol. Does this woman work every single day? And why have I not run into her yet?!
BOG lunch. Awesome. Did you feel like a celeb passing all of those people? I cannot wait to tell you about our experience here :) I get what you mean about Rose Gallery. I just thought compared to the rest of the place it was kind of meh. The ballroom is spectacular though! Your west wing pics turned out great! Especially the rose pictures. I gotta get a new camera and video camera. Both of mine suck with dark areas. I cringe when I get home and start looking at my stuff for night time and dark rides :scared:
Okay gotta say when I read your part about your talk with the little girl in the west wing I kind of had deja vu. Did I read a similar experience in Lia's TR? I think it was hers and maybe she had the same thing happen with a child that was in that room and had all of this info about what goes on in there. That's kind of spooky.

It's totally cool to say I was there when they filmed that! :) I love the Christmas parade.

Aaaaahhhhh Barbara!! I need to find her on our next trip. She seems fantastic & I'd love to dance with her. What a fabulous cast member, making her own little magic. I love it! Also, those stepsisters are far from ugly. I'm sure they all are without all that makeup they put on them but those girls...whoa. They're super pretty!

Be our guest!! It looks so lovely. I love when the imagineers can just have free reign & it looks like they really worked hard to make it feel like you were stepping into the world of beauty & the beast. I'd like to be found with a rose please, it's very "you've got mail". :)

That Friday morning we were in MK for a short period of time trying to avoid Main Street and the castle area due to the crowds. I watched the Christmas parade on TV; however I blissfully never knew Lara Spencer had more than 1 take. Perhaps by the 50th time you'd get it perfect. ;)

I seriously need to try BoG for lunch and have a sandwich. (It must be better than the dinner choices that I've made.) I'm sad that they don't have the magical rose locator thingys any longer... I'll never know what it's like to use one of those.

If that little girl hadn't shared her insider knowledge you may never have gotten that Beast photo... or would you have? You probably already knew about that changing portrait. :)

Nice photo with Barb! She's the most enthusiastic CM I know.

I absolutely LOVE the step-sisters! My son is really looking forward to meeting them on our upcoming trip (he thinks he's too cool to meet characters, but not them apparently). They do look beautiful in your photos!

I just can't get over how awesome BOG looks! We also have FPs for lunch, so I'm excited to finally see it in person. We will have to check out the picture, too. My kids would love that.

OMG ME TOOOOOOOO!!!!!! They are absolutely some of the most entertaining characters in the parks no matter the situation. Love them. But, yeah, not so ugly.

It truly is stunning Jennifer,. You're gonna love it. And the food is good too, so Win-Win.

Slowly catching up...

It's a bit surprising the parks don't make a bigger deal about Walt's birthday. Glad you ran into a few CM's to restore your faith. I'm a huge fan of Walt Disney and I'm ashamed to admit I completely forgot also, and I was at WDW on his birthday. :sad2:

:rotfl2: That was hilarious, best laugh I've had in a while.

I know this feeling well, I grew up in ND about an hour from the border, when I moved south everyone loved my "Canadian" accent and I must have said "bag" and "sorry" a thousand times because my friends thought it was so funny.

The fact they were generous and thoughtful enough to bring Birthday presents to someone they were meeting for the first time in person says it all - good people!

And this confirms it - good people!

Makes me wish I was more thoughtful to others, I need to work on that.

:thumbsup2

Another great Rob installment, love your PTR's!

Yeah, it still amazes me with how little was done. And of course you forgot... there was nothing done to remind you!

Hehe, I just couldn't resist.

Haha, but truth be told, these are the types of things that make people unique. How boring would it be if everyone talked exactly the same?

Absolutely!!! Wonderful and amazing people.

Aww, thanks.

Ahaha never thought of the sign that way! Man, I’m still surprised we didn’t manage to see each other ONCE that night, but we were doing all the characters and didn’t care about the fireworks & stuff the second go around!

Wow when we walked past the stage there was NO crowd out and about, someone was singing, but I couldn’t tell you who.

YIIIIIAAAAASSSSSSSSSS BARBRAAAAAA!!! Only the BEST of all the cast members!!

That Anastisia is seriously gorg, like, so cute. Nerver seen that Drizella…lol. And of course, Lady T is just perfect, like, PERFECT.

Glad that you liked BOG, and wow that was the perfect table location, that’s for sure! Lol. Adorable story from the little girl, that’s super cute!

Bahaha, It just made me laugh... if you read between the lines! OMG I KNOW!!!! I expect it's because you were all doing the princesses and whatnot, so that took you off the streets.

It was weird to pass by at various points because the crowd size really seemed to change depending on who was next up to perform. To be honest though, this year's performers was kinda sad. Disneyland was MUCH better.

YESSSSSS I was SO EXCITED!!!!! She's so freakin' awesome.

It was just so weird to me that these are the "Ugly" stepsisters. I mean, I know they try to take care of that by just loading the make-up and the silly faces, but I just thought she was so pretty. She reminded me a bit of Amy Adams and I just found it so comical that these were the "Ugly" ones. Um... nope.

Katt, I was so happy I got that table since it was perfect for being alone. I could really just sit back and enjoy the ambiance, which was obviously amazing. And that kid was so cute. She was so excited to share her vast knowledge she was almost jumping out of her chair. I swear she was 8 going on 30, lol.

Had me laughing out loud again!

I am so excited to try BOG on my next visit! I may blush walking by that stained glass Prince though. Goes against my delicate sensibilities!

And, you totally need to some how cash in on the "Yo Ho Ho Ho" idea!!!

Aw yeah!!! I definitely tried to pack a lot into this update.

Oh, You should be Elena, it's fantastic. Way beyond the normal QS restaurant. But that stained glass... I have no idea how that was missed.

It just seemed so obvious to me. How could all these genius Imagineers miss it??!!

Yikes to sold out parties! I don't deal well with crowds (it's why I live in the middle of the woods! I'm halfway to hermit!)

Yeah that is somewhat cruel! Hahaha

Oh those Christmas decorations, so incredible!!
Despite the crowds, it would be awfully cool to get to see the parade and shows being taped.

(I rave about the little Canon Elphs! I'm sad that Canon is dropping their low-end point and shoot line, theirs are the best by a mile.)

Dancing Barbara!! I love her! I love that you got a picture with her, I'm quite jealous I must admit! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
You're right, those are some really pretty "Ugly Stepsisters"... if that's considered ugly, then I have to go home and eat some chocolate and cry a lot. :lmao:
From the view from your table at BOG, I'm thinking that we sat at the one small table closer to the door. Hard to tell though. We were no farther than the next table, if not the same one! Glad to read another good review of the good, there are so many sub-par food reviews of BOG. We loved ours! :confused3
The little girl telling you all about the West Wing sounds so cute, and you did get the Beast so she definitely knew what she was talking about! :thumbsup2
Leave the pantsless prince alone, he's there for any single ladies or gentlemen to enjoy a little!! :rotfl2:

You know though Wendy, it wasn't bad at all. Even sold out, it's less people than a normal park day. Of course, a lot of them do converge on the Main Street area.

Totally cruel right??!! But funny too because I already had a ticket.

Oh they are. And the performance tapings weren't bad crowd wise at all. It was cool to see bits and pieces througout the day. I did hear the parade portion the next day was insanity though, but it was the perfect storm. So I avoided that.

I love my Elph. Unbelievable for it's size and cost.

OMG Wendy, I had to. She was right there!!

Aww Wendy, trust me, you have nothing to worry about in that regard. But yeah, they were an odd choice to be "ugly".

I KNOW!!! I almost sat in the one next to it, but right near there was the cutaway that opened up into a waiting area, so I moved down to be against a solid wall. But I know we were in a very close table regardless. Oh I loved it. The food, the ambiance, everything. Granted, I'm pretty easy to please, but still, I thought it was great.

Oh she was so cute. I think her mother got a kick out of it too. I can't imagine she was more than 8, but she came across so much older. Believe me, she knew her stuff.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I'm just pointing it out. People are free to make their own judgements, lol.

Great updates! Pantless Prince...I will never be able to look at that the same way again!!!

Ahh Thank You!!!! And hey, I just calls it like I sees it. ;)

I must be living under a rock, because I had no clue the picture in the West Wing changed. :confused3 That's pretty cool. How sweet of that little girl to explain the timing to you. It's so fun to see little kids get excited over all things Disney. :goodvibes

A pants-less Beast?!?:lmao:

The Christmas Party was sold out the night before, as well. (the 5th.) I guess everyone visiting the world really wanted to attend MVMCP. I'm very curious to hear how your experience with a sold out party went...

It was really cool Alisha. I had heard about it beforehand, but didn't have a lot of detail. But I didn't need it thanks to my little tour guide. She was completely adorable.

Haha, maybe its just me... but that's what I see.

Indeed it was. In fact, the Party sold out a ton this year.

Bog!! Omg!! I have to try it on my weekend trip in June!! Do you know If I'm just doing a weekend trip- if I'm eligible for fast passes and FP plus?
Since we are only doing MK- I think it would be smart to do so.

I've heard the pics don't even do BOG justice!!

You absolutely do Marcie. As of now, there's no more paper FP, so it's all FP+. Since you're onsite (POP whoot whoot) then you should be able to book your FP 60 days out (as long as you have tickets).

For FP+ for lunch keep checking here https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com/ You'll need your resort confirmation # if I remember correctly (and assuming they are still doing this). Keep checking though. The dates don't always show up until closer to the actual day you're there, so don't give up.

No they really don't. It is truly spectacular.

Love seeing all the Christmas decorations! And how cool that you got to see a part of the Christmas parade taping :)

YAY for lunch at BOG! You certainly got a great seating location! What a cute girl you encountered in the West Wing!

Oh Alexis, they really are wonderful. And it was quite fun to stop and watch a bit of the taping throughout the day.

I have to admit, I was pretty excited for this. And I loved my table. Just perfect for a party of one. OMG she was the sweetest little thing and seriously knew everything!

I seriously need one of those Mickey head wreaths for my door at home! I wish they sold a version of them in the parks.

So cool that you got to see some of the taping of the parade! Although it sounds like it was a bit boring by your description. :rotfl:

Love all of your pictures from Pirates. I think I have the same exact picture of the dog with the keys. That's my favorite scene and I tend to photograph it endlessly.

I have yet to spot Barbara in the parks but I see her in a ton of TRs. Maybe I'm just not paying attention? :confused3

Don't you just love BOG! How far out did you get your lunch FP? I've been trying but as of right now it's telling me there are none available. I've eaten there three times now for dinner so I want to try lunch this time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Prince looks half naked! :rotfl2: I actually have a phone case that is very similar to that picture but luckily the princes pants are white.

You know that's a good point. They should sell these.

Cool, but yes, INCREDIBLY boring. I certainly wouldn't want to do that all day. I only stopped for a short time whenever I was near. I never stayed long though.

It's so funny, because I think that is probably the most iconic scene of the ride (heck it even made it into the movie), and yet I think this might be my only picture. But then I very rarely take any photos in here since they generally don't turn out. But these ones weren't terrible.

She's amazing!!!She's usually on or around Main Street when the Parades are happening. That's when you see her "Get down". She's definitely worth seeking out.

I really did Arianna. The FP release dates were actually quite close to the travel dates if I remember correctly, so have no fear. I think it was only a couple weeks in advance before anything showed up. Certainly not the 180 days that ADR's are. Just keep checking.

Bahahahaha, I laughed so hard when I saw that. I'd seen photos, but seeing it in person... Oh God... what were they thinking?????

That's cool that you got to see some of the parade/special taping. Also love when one gets to see a bit of how those things are made. Though I am disappointed to see that it is written out for Lara Spencer to say that she finds Aulani to be "stunning" and isn't her actual opinion. I mean, I figured if it was on television you could trust it, right? ;)

I am torn on if more of the rides should do overlays. Definitely don't want half-baked ones. I think the Jingle Cruise was a good idea, but picking a couple more rides would be cool - be in Pirates or Big Thunder Mountain or something (figure let DL have the Haunted Mansion one)

Yeah for the picture with Dancing Barbara! And fun story of your interaction with the little girl in BOG. Glad you finally got to see the place. Definitely a step up from the standard quick-service - both as far as food and decor

It is pretty neat Phil, but only to a point. It gets pretty darn boring very quickly which is why I didn't stay around long. And yeah, every single word written out. Honestly, who can you trust anymore?

Jingle Cruise was actually pretty much a non-starter, but I'll cover that next. DL does amazing overlays (not that I've experienced them in person, but they are very elaborate). WDW just could never close a ride to do it like they can out West. Just entirely different customers. So, I don't think you'll ever see it in WDW apart from some decorations.

It was so cool to meet Barb. That little kid was so cute and helpful, and BOG was everything I hoped for. Loved the experience.

Yet another great update!! I LOL'ed when I read the pantless remark...to the point I spit my water out that I was drinking!!! :)

So, do you have any other Disney Trips planned? I know I'm so pushy...I just enjoy your TR's!! LOL

Awww thank you!!!! Oh dear, I hope no major damage was done. But honestly, tell it doesn't look like that.

Sadly I don't, or at least nothing actually booked. May 2015 is looking very likely, and September 2014 is looking maybe likely. But that is seriously so kind of you to say!!

MK's Christmas decorations are so stunning!

:rotfl: I always say I'd like to see the taping, but I'm not sure I'd have the patience to watch it over...and over...and over...with the exception of the NPH opening number, which I did watch repeatedly at home.

Oh man, missed opportunities at Pirates!! You're too much.

Geez, the stepsisters do look great in the photos you got!

BE OUR GUEST <3 I'm glad you picked the ballroom. The West Wing is amazing for sure, but the ballroom is just so iconic to me that I always sit there.

That little girl sounds absolutely precious!

OMG they are. I wanna turn back time.

Oy yeah. TV tapings are just not that exciting. I certainly couldn't have stayed there all day watching that. I much preferred to just pop by from time to time.

Like it was right there in front of them and they missed it. So sad.

OMG Courtney, they were STUNNING. Just really pretty and way too pretty to be "Ugly". I wish I'd gotten better pictures, but hopefully it was enough to make my point, lol. Something going on in the water with pretty "Ugly Stepsisters" and Peter Pan built like a power lifter.

There really wasn't any other choice for me. I loved eating in the Ballroom and that kid was too adorable. She seemed so much older than I know she was.

So cool!!!!

:rotfl: I stood right in front of this less than 48 hours ago and I didn't even notice! Oh my goodness. I have tears in my eyes!!!

AHHHHHHH it was redemption to the max! My God I adored that chalk drawing. Hahaha, no such thing as shameless self promotion... Sue (see I can say that now).

Oh yeah, it was in a word... Magical. One of my favourite nights. YES, I got to meet Wendy too!!! It was only a matter of time.

What I find so fascinating (and love) about the GFLo is EVERYBODY (well almost everybody) is completely under-dressed. It's so Disney. Having only been this one time, I think I've spoiled it for regular visits. Once you've seen it at Christmas, nothing else compares.

I don't know why, but it's the first thing that popped into my head. That colour choice is just... wrong.

Great update! :)

Why thank you SO VERY MUCH!!!! :goodvibes

It really was, though I didn't watch a lot admittedly. It can get pretty boring.

RIGHT??!!! She was WAY (well both actually) too pretty to be "Ugly". It's like they didn't even try.

Totally. They could have fed me cat food and I probably still would have at least liked it. It was just so... pretty.

I think it was hers and maybe she had the same thing happen with a child that was in that room and had all of this info about what goes on in there. That's kind of spooky.

Awww THANKS JENN!!!! That sign had me roaring. You just have to know how to read between the lines.

You know it was really cool and I'm glad I was there to see this, but there was NO WAY I would have gone to the actual parade taping the next day. I heard it was a madhouse. The performance taping was fun for the bits and pieces I saw (and there will be a bit more to come). But TV tapings of any kind can be pretty boring seeing the same thing over and over again.

Ooh I like that. And seriously, how hard would it be. Heck, just chuck a Santa hat on who you have now. He already has a beard!

Yeaaaaahhhhhh it is... but I don't get it. I guess its less popular now, but still. All those fads drive me nuts!

The best chance to see her is before a parade. I see her a lot leading the Move It Shake It floats, and this is when she REALLY gets down and boogies. My God she's fabulous.

You know I never thought of it, but I guess I should have felt celeb-like. The experience was so awesome though, so glad I decided to go. I spent almost no time in the Rose Gallery, Just a quick peak really. I think they even close it during Dinner, so that says something right there. The Ballroom and West Wing were fabulous though. My last camera was like that. Unless it was bright light, crap-o-rama. But this new one, despite its low cost is actually made for low light. I have to say, I've been impressed.

You absolutely did read that in Lia's TR and I even mentioned it to her, figuring Disney must be hiring these kids to explain everything, lol. Wow, I'm impressed you caught that! And it was really eerie, but also cool. Hmmmm, now that I think about it, maybe she doesn't really exist and only makes herself known to a select few to pass along her wisdom.

It's totally cool to say I was there when they filmed that! :) I love the Christmas parade.

Aaaaahhhhh Barbara!! I need to find her on our next trip. She seems fantastic & I'd love to dance with her. What a fabulous cast member, making her own little magic. I love it! Oh yes, I have to admit it was pretty much totally awesome to see all the activity around the taping. And crowd wise it wasn't bad at all. The actual parade taping on the next day though... well lets just say I'm glad I avoided that.

Barbara is the best, hands down. She is so into her job, you can't help but love her. Keep an eye out for her around parade time. And the Stepsisters!!! I just found it so funny that these were the best "Ugly Stepsisters" they had. I know you don't want to announce "Now casting the stepsisters... Must be Ugly", but these were princesses through and through.

It's beautiful Jennifer, it really is. I had seen so many photos by this point, but like most things in Disney, you need to see it yourself. Haha, I was actually a little bummed about not getting a rose. Well actually, I did get one initially, but then they switched it out to use the MB. Still pretty cool how it all works.

That Friday morning we were in MK for a short period of time trying to avoid Main Street and the castle area due to the crowds. I watched the Christmas parade on TV; however I blissfully never knew Lara Spencer had more than 1 take. Perhaps by the 50th time you'd get it perfect. ;)

If that little girl hadn't shared her insider knowledge you may never have gotten that Beast photo... or would you have? You probably already knew about that changing portrait. :)

Nice photo with Barb! She's the most enthusiastic CM I know.

You know what, I did not know you were there that morning.I know you got caught in the madhouse the next day though. Yup, many many many takes. Even the performances, though I didn't see a ton. It's actually quite boring to watch.

Hmmmm, so you're saying there's a dining experience that I've done that you haven't??? :woohoo: Sorry Brenda, that just surprises me, lol. As far as I know (at least at that time) the roses still existed. I even held one briefly. So maybe if you hauled out your "Do you know who I am... I was in the Dream Suite?", they would gladly give you a rose.

It's true, I did know about the changing portrait and the Thunder and Lightning, but I certainly didn't know it did it twice. That was the main thing the kid focuses on... 5 or so seconds after the first flash, it does it again. And THAT is what enabled me to at least get something reasonable.

Ahhh Barb. My God that woman has endless energy. I was so excited to run into her when she wasn't busy dancing. But this was definitely not the last CM encounter on this trip.

omg pantless prince. I had never realized! But now it's all I see lol

I loved all the decoration pictures! Thanks for posting them.

I laugh every time I see the prince with no pants... too funny. Disney should really fix that.

Your parade taping photos are sooo cool!!! You really got up and close!!

Also, your BOG photos are some of the best I've seen --- glad to hear your lunch was tasty! :goodvibes

OMG THE PRESENTS!!! :santa:  :woohoo:

"After watching Lara Spencer read, and re-read, and re-read, and re-read from the teleprompter, I moved on." :rotfl2:

YOUR BOG SEAT>>>>>>>> :cloud9:
OMG I CAN'T

ugh the rose gallery.............<<<<<<<<<<<<

OMG PANTLESS PRINCE :rotfl2:

The pictures you got of all the decorations are beautiful! I miss Disney at Christmas!

You're right, those 'ugly' stepsisters are far from ugly! It's funny, but I guess the only thing that classifies them as ugly is their makeup.

Ahhhh, Be Our Guest! I'm so glad you can make a FP+ reservation for this meal! The pictures you got are great! I got a kick out of the pic of the 'statue' (or whatever you wanna call it) of Belle and Beast dancing. There's a slight glare on it that makes Beast look like he's afraid of something. :rotfl:

"O Holy Night" is my favorite Christmas song too! :goodvibes

With each Be Our Guest update I see on the Dis, I am reminded how much I regret not doing two things in my September trip: that and not going to a MNSSHP! Ugh. But... Hoping I can pull off a trip this September and fix that debacle. We shall see!

Awww... You must have made that little girl's day when you showed her the picture and she felt like she was responsible for its momentous capture! :cloud9:

I must have been there around the same time at MK. I saw Lara Spencer doing that over and over too! She was talking about the magic bands when I was there.

Also, I went to the christmas party on dec 6th too! I didn't realize we went to it the same day.

I liked that sign. It really is rubbing it in the face of people not getting to attend the Christmas party.

Alicia and I have a local friend who got there early to see the taping of The Wanted that morning. We got to see some of the floats on the 7th.

Yeah they really should have re-thought the color of the stain glass with Prince Eric's pants.

So it sounds like when they tape the performances for the Christmas Parade show, they are actually singing it and not lip syncing? That's pretty cool because I just assumed everything that goes on that stage in front of the castle is lip synced.

You know, I have been wanting to dine in the West Wing. After two unsuccessful attempt at it with Dinner ADRs, maybe the lunch is the way to go?
