"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

Don't mind me, just catching up over here... and I have to say, I died laughing over here at your VERY accurate description of Gym-Rat-Peter Pan. That dude is jacked, especially for Peter, hahahaha.

Um, I can't wait to see the Mine Train in all of its glory! It's going to be awesome.

If I ever meet talking Mickey, I WILL DIE. Seriously, just die. I am the same way with you, Mickey was the first character I ever met, and when he kissed my 6 year old cheek, I died. DIED. I died again when he waved and wished me a happy anniversary in the middle of MSEP. I am so happy for you though, and LOVE that he wished you a happy birthday.

I firmly believe that it is your birthday/anniversary/whatever you're celebrating the entire trip! There is something special about just celebrating it while your'e there in Disney. I mean, we totally celebrated ours like 4 months after our actual anniversary when we went in January. WHO CARES?!

That CM was so sweet to give you that cupcake! And also, it looks freakin' amazing.

I have yet to see Fantasmic! I know, it's insane. But I am pretty sure Matt and I are going to try and see it while we're in Disneyland in May. At least, that's our plan. But who knows if we'll stick to it... depend on how busy it is while we're there! But if we don't catch it there, then maybe when we're in Disney World at some point.

AWWW I love your DIS meet with Brenda and Emily! From reading Brenda's TRs, they seem like such nice people! It's always the best when you meet someone for the first time and it's not super awkward, too. :thumbsup2

OH THE GRAND. I love visiting there! We stayed there in 2011 during our honeymoon and it was amazing. I hope we can stay there again, as I have us on a waitlist to stay at the Villas at GF in September for 2 nights. I check every morning to see if maybe we get lucky and get in, but nothing yet. If we don't, no big deal, just means I need to plan another Disney trip for next year and try to stay there then, haha. But it's so perfect at Christmas! I've never been since we're always in DLR during the Christmas season, but it sure is pretty.

CHRISTMAS PARTY!!! Always the right choice. I know you and many others prefer Not So Scary, but for me the Christmas party is where it's at. So I respect your choice.

The GFlo looks absolutely stunning, especially decorated for Christmas. I can't wait to get back to the World in the Christmas season so I can do more resort exploring.

Yeah, It's true I do prefer the Halloween Party, but I still adore the Christmas Party as well. And this will be my first solo party too.

It is stunning Courtney. Not a bad way to have my first introduction to it EVER.

Oh, speaking of tears, that was one more thing I had wanted to mention... I love One Man's Dream, but I have seen the movie... and sobbed like a baby. Actually, even Hall of Presidents brings tears to my eyes, and I'm not American, as you know.

And Bob and Doug sure did play up the Canadian stereotypes.

Have a good week, let's be grateful the snow they thought we might get over here seems to have disappeared for tomorrow. ;)

I swear, there is more and more all the time that really gets to me, One Man's Dream being one for sure.

Hehe, yup they did. But then that's what makes it funny.

Yeah, it seems to have disappeared which is fine by me. I've had enough snow.

Never been on a Disney bus?! I'm glad you changed that!!

Your pics at POP makes me definitely want to request lake view!

The GF is just simply beautiful and than little man was precious!

What a beautiful afternoon for the boat ride!

Haha, no I had been on a bus, but never from the resort to the park. Prior to this day I'd used them to park hop on occasion, or to check out a particular resort from a park. But I'd never used them for the whole day.

Lake view is AWESOME Marcie. Plus you're not that far from AoA.

OMG isn't he adorable??? He just fit in with the whole vibe of the place so perfectly.

I was so glad I altered my plans so I could just relax a bit to start the day.

Yay for a Wendy meet! I saw that on FB and was super happy you guys were able to meet. :goodvibes

The G-Flo lobby is gorgeous anytime but all decked out for Christmas - it is spectacular! I loved trying to find the hidden gingerbread men on the gingerbread house. (I needed help from Em.)

A bus and a launch! This is a great day in Disney transportation for DisneyKid4Life!!

YAY INDEED Brenda!!! Once I saw they were coming into town, this was completely necessary.

Beautiful!! You know what though, I had no clue there were hidden Gingerbread men. Probably a good thing though since I did so poor on the Hidden Pascals.

Totally, and also, the Monorail. Nothing but Disney transport today!!

Wow, the lake really did look like a sheet of glass.

Beautiful pictures of the GF!! Hopefully one day I can be there during the holidays to see all those decorations.

Yay for the MVMCP!! :woohoo:

OMG it was SO STILL Jennifer!!! It really made it look amazing and also allowed for nice reflections in the water.

It is worth seeing for sure, and certainly not a bad way to have my very first GF experience.

Coming up SOON!!!!

Awesome updates!! It really is a lovely treat to just take it all in and go slow and check out the resorts, especially the GFlo, it's so pretty!!!

Thanks Katt. I really am glad it worked out the way it did because it did allow me to just chill for the morning. My feet were grateful.

Just caught up on your TR, I loved your other TRs and this one is exceptional as well! I'm planning my first solo trip, so I'm picking up pointers from your solo trips! :)

I love that you celebrated Walt's birthday!

I'll be waking up at WDW on my birthday for the first time ever in September, I can't wait!

Looking forward to the rest of your TR!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your kind words and WELCOME!!!!! That's wonderful that you're planning a solo trip and for your birthday too.

Aww thanks. It was necessary.

You're gonna love it. It is truly a feeling that can't be described. It needs to be felt.

Wendy Wu Woohooo hi Wendy!!!! Yep triple jelly beans haha I still laugh at this. Infact I can no longer see Jelly beans without thinking of you the same can be said with doors that read "push" Anyways I love ur G-Flo pics! Also i'm gonna msg u soon because I have some things to discus MUAHAHAHA lol

Ahh it was a really great time Carrie. HAHA, I do love jelly beans (honestly) so it's all good (despite my foot in mouth disease that kicks in sometimes). I loved your GF photos more with Santa Duffy. Message away!!!

I'm not usually one to resort hop, but if we get there at Christmas, I will certainly make time for it. As I was looking at your pics I was wondering how many vacation photos those girls inside the gingerbread house end up in? :rotfl: Excited to hear about the party!

You know, resort hopping is brand new for me Shannon since I really only started on the trip prior to this one. Now I like to do a few per trip just to see how different they all are.
Haha, I bet they're in a TON.
Ooh the party is still to come!!

A beautiful thing it is to wake up in Disney world hahahaha

No matter how much I say I hate them, the disney busses hold a special place in my heart.

I love that Gingerbread house and the GF decorations. A lot of those photos really were surreal and I was stunned just looking at them. You summed it up perfectly in that last line.

No place better. Period.

Since I wasn't dependant on them, I kind of looked at using them as a treat. I enjoy them, but I wouldn't want to HAVE to use them, thus the car rental.

It's become so iconic, that I just knew seeing it this trip was absolutely necessary. Definitely worth it.

Hi again! It was so good to meet you Saturday and spend such a good time talking Disney. :goodvibes My parents, co-workers, and friends all get annoyed when I talk Disney too much! :lmao: We did manage to get to Costco on time :thumbsup2 then back to the mall. Poor Johnny missed Princess Auto (but I wasn't really disappointed... that just meant he didn't come home with more useless gadgets and gizmos!) Back home by 1am and managed to get up yesterday for the hockey game. (Go Canada Go!) Although I'm not quite sure how I'm going to get through work today... :faint:

Ain't no party like an MK party. More specifically, a MVMCParty! My absolute favourite!
Oh man, those Pop pictures are making me so nostalgic... I want to go back now! September is way too far away! Look at that smooth as glass Hourglass Lake :lovestruc I love Pop. 50's is a great location, I go back and forth, but sometimes 50's is my favourite. :rotfl2:

We have always relied solely on the Disney bus system and always had excellent luck. Although we did find the bus service at AK not nearly as good as at Pop. :confused3

What are you saying? We met in a mall! :rotfl2:

G-Flo is so pretty at Christmas time, so elegant. That gingerbread house is just beyond comprehension! The details are my favourite. At first glance it looks like any fancy hotel, then you see Peter Pan in the floor tiles. :thumbsup2

Well Hello there stranger!!! I am so glad we were able to do that. It's so funny that we live so close by (in relative DISboard terms), so it HAD to happen sometime. Sorry he missed Princess Auto, but glad you made Costco. WOW, that is such a long day, but yeah the hockey game was absolutely necessary. What other country changes liquor laws for a hockey game???

I'll call it my second favourite, lol. But it sure was interesting to do a party solo. Stay tuned!!

It was a stunning morning and I was so glad that I was able to just enjoy the scenery a bit. I was in love with my location.

I like it too. I just don't like being dependant on it. But it is so strange that the deluxes seem to have the worst bus service. POP's service is generally fantastic. I guess dedicated bus service will do that. I shutter a bit to think they may eventually share buses with AoA.

Bahahahaha, I thought about that exact thing when I was posting! Hellooooooo irony!

I really enjoyed looking around the G-Flo. It's like this high class place that I would never be allowed in, and yet it's totally not like that all.

Well, not too many people still have 'ride on a disney bus' on their bucket list. And now, neither do you!!

Ahhhh, memories of the Disney bus. My biggest memory was leaving DTD one night with my sis during one of our 'girls' trips. It was still warm outside - - muggy, humid - - typical September evening for Florida. When the bus finally showed up, we climbed aboard. Once we got on, we PRAYED for other people to board, because it was downright FREEZING in that bad boy. :cold: We huddled together and wrapped anything we had around us. We couldn't get off fast enough at our stop (which, of course, was the dang LAST stop!). After that ride, we continued to refer to them as the rolling refrigerators.

....I can't wait to go back!!! Mwah!!! (no ticker. :( )

Haha, very true Linda.

Ahhhh, I have heard A LOT of stories over the years about the buses being freezing at times. I do love them for the "feeling" you get riding. How can you not love a bus that has "Magic Kingdom" as its destination??!!!

YAY for a Disney meet!

Love all your GF photos.

A 2nd MVMCP?! GREAT choice!!

And a very impromptu one at that. :)

Aww thanks Alexis. It is a pretty place.

Totally a last minute decision bought just the night prior and just before it sold out!!!

ROB HOW DARE YOU. Your flawless pictures of AoA just made me miss Disney so much, I feel like I'm missing a limb! Probably cause I've stayed at Pop so much, that area just gets me. Le sigh. YAY FOR A 2ND PARTY THOUGH! I always recommend multiple parties :thumbsup2 :santa:

OMG LIA I AM SO SO SO SO SORRY!!!! That post should have come with a warning. I'll tell you though, looking at the photos have been messing with me too, especially with no current trip planned. Though September is a possibility and next May looks very likely. Here's hoping! But yeah, I too loved that spot.
HA, yes... Two Parties are better than one!!!

I died again when he waved and wished me a happy anniversary in the middle of MSEP. I am so happy for you though, and LOVE that he wished you a happy birthday.

I've never been since we're always in DLR during the Christmas season, but it sure is pretty.

HA don't worry, I see you there catching up! OMG Dani, he was seriously jacked. Good for him, but for Peter, just no, lol.

Oh me too. I've been looking at new photos and I think it's gonna rock (no pun intended).

Seriously one of my favourite memories of the trip was meeting Talking Mickey. I just find it so sad that so many kids are losing the connection with him (not all though) and focusing more on the "newer" characters. Wishing me a Happy Birthday, ON WALT'S BIRTHDAY NO LESS, was as good as it gets.

Good, I'm so glad you said that. The way I look at it, a day doesn't end until you go to sleep. Since there's "NO SLEEPING IN DISNEY", the "day" is the whole trip.

So amazing. As I said, I know this happens every day, but the circumstances around this just made it ultra special. PLUS... IT WAS SO GOOD!!!

WHAT??!!!!!!!! Oh Dani you have to see it in BOTH places. Parts are the same, but much of it is different, including the "atmosphere". Seriously, you need to see this. Once you do, I don't think you'll want to miss it again. Especially the finale. OMG I'm getting chills just thinking about it. Yes, the waiting sucks, but Oh God so worth it. Disney Magic on display!

It was phenomenal. I honestly relished each and every second. Kind of like when you finally met Jen and family. Not awkward at all. Just exciting.

Can you believe it was my first time there??? Crazy! Honestly, it wouldn't be my first pick of places to stay (other than the location), but it is so very lovely... ESPECIALLY at Christmas.

"Trust me; this all makes sense in my head." ... I think I saw that to my wife just about everyday :goodvibes

Nice pics of the resort - that lake really was perfectly still!

The Grand Floridian is not my favorite (just not my taste) but the floors in the lobby are pretty tremendous.

man, you went so long without any DISmeets and now you have them so often you have to point out the days you don't have one ;)

Those UK cast members are the best. I love their chalk art & I wonder why they're the only country that does it. Happy birthday indeed. :)

I agree, meeting Brenda is like meeting up with a friend you just haven't seen in a while. I love that she calls CMs by their name! That is just so nice! I really have to start doing that. How sweet of her to have gifts for your birthday too! :)

Yay for spontaneous conversations on your FIRST ride on a disney bus to the park!! I can't wait to hear how much fun you had on the ride back. ;)

Your evening with Brenda and Emily sounds like so much fun! I'm lucky enough to get to meet Brenda in May, and I'm so excited! And so cool that you got a bonus Dismeet this weekend!

Wow! You can see Spaceship Earth from Pop/AoA? I had no idea, but that's amazing! Great pictures!

My first time visiting GF was at Christmas as well, and I think it makes it all the more magical! It's unbelievable in there.

Do you read Disney Parks Blog ever? That adorable CM was featured in one of their articles (or in a video that was in one of the articles) and it's awesome that you saw him!

My goodness you Pop water pictures were amazing! Ah so pretty!
Yay for your first Disney bus ride and chatty children!!!
Oooh the Grand Floridian. And the stinking gingerbread house that we missed seeing twice on our trip lol! Glad that you were at least able to enjoy it:thumbsup2
I was hoping to see Uncle Jesse playing in your piano picture....now I am just dissapointed. But your adorable little old man cast member picture brightened my day quite a bit! He is so adorable with his little suit on...awwww.
Great update Rob!!! Can't wait to read more :)

Most people wouldn't understand, but I started smiling and kind of threw my phone at Alex to show him that photo Wendy posted on Facebook. It's a great place-the DISboards- when you can be happy for 2 people you've never met to meet and talk over coffee. :goodvibes

I love your view of Art of Animation from across the lake. It looks so peaceful.

I'd never taken the bus to MK from a resort until December, either, so don't feel bad. While driving has its own advantages, I can see why the bus would be a great thing for MK. Being able to skip the TTC, the tram, either the ferry or monorail easily cuts 15-20 minutes off your travel time.

Fair warning...NOTHING beats the look of the GF than at Christmastime. The gingerbread house and the Christmas tree and all those red poinsettias take the resort to a whole new level.
I'm glad you were able to stop by and see the decorations for yourself. Definitely worth doing while you're there for the holiday season.

So fun to resort hop to the resorts at Christmas time to see all the decorations!

I am sad to see them ripping everything out around the Poly! No more Wishes from the beach for a while. :worried:

Riding the busses to the parks is part of the package!!! But I have to say that after last summer, I have a new love of having a car-except to the Magic Kingdom! Still a big hassle to get out from there with having to go to the T&TC first.

Loved the updates!

How awesome to have a Dismeet in your hometown!!

Isn't the GF just gorgeous at Christmas?? I've never seen it not decked out, so it's "just the way it is" for me! :thumbsup2

The old man is adorable, but I'm obsessed with adorable old people. There's another gentleman that works at POR, too.

I love the organic conversations that happen on Disney transportation. Everyone is usually very excited and happy to be there and with that comes these awesome Disney moments. We've had them especially with our older son, just randomly striking conversation with people :)

Haha, we Disney folks just operate on a whole other level.

It was gorgeous Phil. I'm so glad I had the time to just take that in.

Yeah I agree. For me it's a lovely place to visit, but not somewhere I really need to stay.

Haha, yeah it seems so comical now. Glad I was able to sneak one in for this day. :0)

I can't wait to hear how much fun you had on the ride back. ;)

You know they really are wonderful. I imagine there is some real UK thing behind it, but now you have me curious. But this one was EASILY the best one I've seen.

Yes, you know first hand Jennifer! And that is really how it felt. The way she treats people is really wonderful and the CM's by name is just one example. Oh man, the gifts were just so incredibly thoughtful.

Well, it wasn't my first bus trip ever, but it was my first from the resort. I just so enjoy talking with people like that. It really shows how alike we all are is so many ways.

Your evening with Brenda and Emily sounds like so much fun! I'm lucky enough to get to meet Brenda in May, and I'm so excited! And so cool that you got a bonus Dismeet this weekend!

It was SO MUCH FUN Marissa. I didn't want it to end and it seemed to go by so quick. You are going to love meeting her. And YES, a bonus just this past weekend.

YES!!! I had no idea until I spotted it. Pretty darn cool.

It looked AMAZING!!! So regal yet you don't feel out of place at all.

I absolutely do. OMG I must try to find that article/video. I just knew there had to be a story about him out there. He was so adorable.

My goodness you Pop water pictures were amazing! Ah so pretty!
Yay for your first Disney bus ride and chatty children!!!

Great update Rob!!! Can't wait to read more :)

Aww thanks Jenn. It was so pretty that morning.
I quite enjoyed the ride that day, and those kids were so cute and really funny. I love talking with the kids. They just make the travel time disappear.
It was a top priority this trip and I'm so glad I FINALLY made it. The gingerbread house alone was worth the visit.
Bahahaha, I'd probably run away (not a Full House fan), but that little man outside was the tops. I just want to know his story because I bet it's a good one.
Thanks Jenn!!

Most people wouldn't understand, but I started smiling and kind of threw my phone at Alex to show him that photo Wendy posted on Facebook. It's a great place-the DISboards- when you can be happy for 2 people you've never met to meet and talk over coffee. :goodvibes

Aww Alisha, that is so sweet. And you are so right. Not only is this a place to share stories and such, but it genuinely has people that we want to meet. I so enjoyed that time this past weekend.

That morning was just unspeakably beautiful.

That was my exact thinking that day. Knowing I was only going to the Kingdom, it just made perfect sense. And it is kinda fun taking the bus sometimes. I just wouldn't want to have it as my only option.

Oh it was the perfect time to visit the GFlo. My God it was beautiful. The Christmas decorations were unreal. I'm so glad I put it on the agenda.

So fun to resort hop to the resorts at Christmas time to see all the decorations!

I am sad to see them ripping everything out around the Poly! No more Wishes from the beach for a while. :worried:

Loved the updates!

How awesome to have a Dismeet in your hometown!!

I so agree. I would have loved to have made it to the WL, but I did go there last trip, so I just wanted something new.

You know, I had planned to watch from the beach initially. I never thought that maybe that wouldn't have been possible.

Haha, yeah absolutely. Though I do honestly enjoy going to the TTC only because I LOVE the Monorail so much. It just kind of takes me back to the childhood memories of visiting "Disney World". But for this day, bypassing the TTC was a very good deal.

THANK YOU!

That was just so cool. Just goes to show that you don't have to be in Disney to have a DISmeet.

Isn't the GF just gorgeous at Christmas?? I've never seen it not decked out, so it's "just the way it is" for me! :thumbsup2

The old man is adorable, but I'm obsessed with adorable old people. There's another gentleman that works at POR, too.

Gorgeous indeed. I guess I can say I've never seen it not decked too.

OMG Jillian, I just fell right in love with him and I never even got to talk to him. It just was inspirational seeing him.

Oh yeah, one of my favourite things about Disney. I love talking to them on the buses, in the lines, everywhere. Generally speaking, people are just so excited to be there and it's such a joy for me to tap into that.

I'm getting more and more jealous of all your DIS meets! In and out of Disney. ;)

We're slated to stay at the Polynesian for June 2015 with my in-laws once all that construction is finished or at least nearly finished. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

And I wonder if anyone has tried to take a bite out of the gingerbread house in GF? :rotfl:

Yes, "Pix or it didn't happen"

Oh man, I would love to just wake up in Disney and randomly add another party night.

NEVER TOOK THE BUS TO MK?!?!? I understand the perks of not taking the bus, but even when we used to rent a car when we went back in the day... ALWAYS bus to parks. Plus, bus BGM >>>

"Conversations with complete strangers just happen organically, almost as if it is a direct part of the Disney package."
This is so true. I'm no where near as shy as I was when I was little/middle school/high school/ and what the hell even college...but I still feel like a different person down there when I'm surrounded by others who love the place.

I would LOVE the see that tree in person :lovestruc

FDEJsfkerdnfkeasdjfcnekdjsf GFlo + Monorail pic

Wow, what a great Dismeet you had with Wendy and her hubby! :goodvibes makes the time in between trips a little easier when things like that happen I bet, huh?

Your G Flo pictures are fabulous! I've actually never been inside and need to take care of that severe oversight ASAP! The gingerbread pictures just make the place seem all the more special. And wow, I just want it hug that man working outside. :goodvibes

As always, a wonderful update, Rob.

Wendy (aka teekathepony) was in town for a little "retail therapy" with hubby Johnny, and we arranged a little DIS time.
We met for coffee at the mall (their treat THANK YOU) and chatted for 2+ hours and I just had such a lovely time with them.

And because we all know, if there's no photo, it didn't happen...

00.jpg

You know I think this was total awesomeness. So glad you got to meet Wendy & Johnny. I just missed them in Disney World by a few days and I was totally bummed. Sigh! I bet you guys had a great time visiting.

Also, since I was now doing the party and no longer “encouraged” to leave Magic Kingdom by 7 pm,

Well put! You know these are fighting words on some DIS threads. :rotfl2:

I started with the entrance, and was so very charmed by this gentleman working there.

28.jpg

Try and tell me he isn’t the absolute cutest man you have ever seen.
He was chatting with a guest, so I didn’t want to interrupt, but I couldn’t help but feel a total love and admiration for him.
TO BE CONTINUED…

He is ABSOLUTELY the cutest little old man! I bet he loves his job!

TO BE CONTINUED…

Beautiful picture!

Your POP and AOA photos are gorgeous!

Touring the resorts at Christmas is so much fun because Disney does the decorations right! It was neat seeing the small differences in the decorations on the Gingerbread House as compared to when I was there in 2012. I really liked the little ornaments hung along with the lights.

I'm not sure who is cuter, the little guy at the GF or the little guy that works at Peter Pan.

That was so nice of the CM and the cupcake looked good.
Nice pics of Fantasmic.
I think for a lot of CM’s it is a job and not like it used to be when they REALLY loved their job and doing it.
Nice you met the tow of them. They might make an appearance later in my tr too.
Love those lights on the sidewalk in Epcot.
You had a great evening.
Nice pics around POP in the morning. We were at All Star Sports at this time starting our resort tour. LOl
This was a day of firsts for you.
Nice tour and pics of GF.
I am all caught up again.
