Enchanté on the Wish looks like an amalgamation for everything wrong with Disney right now to me

Having actually eaten in both Remy and Enchante, I'll give you my 2 cents. The cost for both is the same ($125 pp). The level of service is the same (superior). There is one menu in Enchante & 2 to choose from in Remy. The décor is different, but both are upscale French. The food is exceptional. DW and I enjoyed our dinner there last weekend.

To be perfectly honest, I'm BAFFLED by the Wish-hating that's going on. Different isn't necessarily bad. Granted, there were some things on Wish that made DW & I wonder what was going through the designers' collective minds during ship design (stateroom cooler, no drawers jump to mind), but on the whole, we're more than happy to go back. I'm in the minority on the boards here, but having spent time in the adult area on the Wish, we enjoyed it quite a bit.

I get it; everyone has preferences, which is why menus are printed. Some like Vanilla, some like chocolate and some like both. That's completely fine. You do you. However, just because I don't like chocolate doesn't make it bad or 'wrong'. This thread was started based on a video and not in person experience? I'm not understanding all the Hate (yes, I capitalized it on purpose).

I fully expected to be excoriated for expressing my opinion, which I find depressingly amusing given that others who are expressing opinions expect to be supported. Having actually been on the ship, I find it quite nice. It's very different than the Fab Four - love the nickname - but it's nice in it's own right.
Different doesn't mean bad. However, if you have a good product with a loyal fanbase, you have to work incredibly hard to surpass the expectations.

If you then go on promoting it as 'this is the best we have ever done', then it hits twice as hard when it doesn't reach the base level, let alone lacks a wow effect.

I understand you cannot market something as 'we did okay', but with the hype they created, the reality doesn't live up to the promise, then the disappointment is worse.

The hate is more disappointment. The fanbase really wanted for Disney to succeed and add an amazing ship to their fleet. They had faith in Disney, or at least wanted to believe Disney would do a magical job.

We recently dined at Enchante. To me, it was both the most wonderful and terrible part of our cruise.

The meal was very well done, and extremely creative and thoughtfully prepared. It was a true experience. We did the six course meal, and each dish flowed beautifully into the next. The portions were a touch small, but over six courses balanced to a wonderfully sized dinner. Unlike going to a restaurant, this was a true experience, more like seeing an event at the theatre or attending a lecture.

On the other hand, the service atmosphere is bizarre. For those who have not dined, the entrance into the restaurant features a plastic sculpt of Lumiere prominently hanging on the wall. The maitre'd made a special point of showing this to us on the walk in. There are many nods to Beauty and the Beast throughout the dining hall.

Despite the fact you are in a restaurant with a Lumiere figurine, the atmosphere is extremely stuffy. The servers and staff came across as cold and judgmental throughout the meal on several occasions. And everything feels like an add on. They push you to purchase still water imported from England. No sooner have you sat down and they are carting around the champagne with six different varieties. The joy that can come from such a unique dining experience is replaced by a cold atmosphere. The hard metallic surfaces, the austere color palate, and frankly the lack of warmth from the wait staff.

Yes, I understand they are emulating a five star restaurant. I have not been to five star, but we have been to many high end restaurants and typically there is a bit more joy and delight. The food provided that, but honestly the rest of the experience was lacking.

Totally get that this may just be my experience, but just sharing my thoughts for other cruisers who may wish to know about Enchante.
