This might sound weird but does anyone know if it would be possible for a guest to get an employee name tag from the Disney parks or US/IOA? The name on it wouldn't matter. I just think that'd be the coolest souvenir.

Well... I guess you have to beg for it! hehe

But there is a place at downtown Disney, where you can buy a keyring that looks like the nametag.

(I got 3 nametags, but I'm gonna keep them! ;) )

This seems to be my answer fo everything lately. But try ebay, there are always namtags on there. Good luvk~KPmom:tongue:

There are a couple on there. Good suggestion!

The reason why I was wondering, besides thinking it would be a cool souvenir, is that I heard that if an employee forgot their nametag for work, they had a bucket of nametags with random names on them so I thought maybe they could spare one.:p

that anyone can get a CM nametag? I always thought we should tell our kids to look for a CM with the white (?) nametag for help...now I find out you can get them on E-Bay?! Scary!

(not trying to ruin the fun of a cool souvenior, but I'm thinking like a mom!)

ITA - my girls know the difference between a CM badge and a GOH badge. It would trouble me to know that anyone could get or wear a CM badge. I guess I will change our "strategy" with the kids for the next trip. Although I appreciate the heads up!

First of all, yes there is a bucket of nametags.

Every park, or area (e.g hotell, downtown disney etc), have a warderobe. If you have forgot your nametag, you have to get one here, in the same way every castmember sign out costumes. So, if you see a castmember with a nametag saying: "pat", ask if that is her/his real name.... (most of those nametags are "pat")

To all You frightend moms:

Check the outfit of the castmember. All castmember have to wear a costume, or a buisness-outfit.

AND take a look at the shoes, they have to be black dress-shoes!

But I dont think you should be worried that there is a "fake-castmember". I have NEVER heard of one...

Believe it or not, my bf has quite a few old nametags from when he used to work there. Of course, almost all have his name on it, but the *coolest* one that he has is one that says "WALT" on it :)

I think they're still laying in a drawer in the room somewhere...hmmm..

It's against company policy for CMs to sell their nametags -- on eBay or elsewhere -- but a lot of them do, particularly once they no longer work for the company. It is, however, a firable offense if you're discovered selling any "Disney property" (which is what nametags are considered, since CMs don't pay for them). I've known people who were fired for selling nametags, CM-exclusive pins, and other such items. Not everyone gets caught, of course, but some do.

Not entirely ... Imagineers and any other CM whose role is considered to be "80% creative" (art directors, show directors, etc) can pretty much wear anything they want to wear. But, then again, those folks don't spend too much time in the parks during operating hours.

I know, it's great fun to walk around in the parks around 6am, it's so many people there work with all kind of wird stuff!
