Emotional...

Are we the only freaky weirdos who get emotional just thinking about how our dd's are going to react when they get to DW? I get all teary just thinking about it, because I'm so thrilled to get to share something with them that was so magical for me.

My 5 yo especially is BIG into princesses. She told us last year that she was done living with us, that she wanted to go live in Cinderella's castle and that even though she would miss us very much, we could call sometimes and maybe come to visit. When we told her that she wasn't allowed to go live with Cinderella in her castle, she tried everything else she could try to get a castle of her own. She asked Santa for one. She prayed to God for one (we had to explain again what praying is for, lol!) She still gets really sad sometimes and actually cries that she can't live in a castle because she is sure she is a REAL PRINCESS!

I just know she is going to have such a good time at Disney this year, and if I'm not careful, I get to imagining it too much and get all weepy.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Your not the only one. I don't just get emotional about them. I am emotional myself when I pass under the entrance Walt Disney World threshold. It's like I have entered into another world. MY daughters have been 5 times and I always tear up when I see the way my oldest looks at Ariel the first time on a trip seeing her. And with my youngest, it's just laughing on Dumbo and Peter Pan. Pretty soon these days will be gone. The innocence of their younth. I cherish every moment.

Are you taking your princess to BBB? It's a must for those little princess'

I did the same thing. And I teared up when they met Cnderella for the first time. And the second time. And when they met Belle. And when they went on Dumbo for the first time.... I think I was just so happy they like Disney as much as I do!

No you're definately not the only one and if I had 4 kids I'd be crying ALL the time. Just kidding. My DD will be 4 on our trip and I get teary eyed imagining her reaction to the castle. She thinks she's a princess too! My mom got her a shirt that says something like "I might not be a princess...but if the tiara fits".

I love seeing the magic in my kids eyes when we are at WDW. The memories do last a lifetime!

No, you are not the only one! ... I am known to get weepy thinking of going on a trip...all the excitement, the anticipation...it's normal...well normal for us freaky weirdos at least.

The thing is though........if you think you are weepy now, just WAIT til you get back!

When we took my 5 year old niece on her 1st trip , I was SO excited I couldn't stand it, she too is VERY into Princesses.

We went to the Princess breakfast in Norway, my little niece all dressed up as Mulan and while we were sitting at the table, my niece was just in total AWE watching all the Princesses and I heard her whisper softly to herself
"I think I must be in a dream."

It's just the most incredible thing when you are able to see Disney through a child's eyes like that....just thinking about it again makes me puddle up a bit.

So, you might be emotional now, but once you've got actual memories to think of.....watch out!

I was going to respond with a silly comment about how I get choked up when the credit card bill arrives the month after a WDW trip, but I won't. I took a video of my then 2 yr old granddaughter in 2004 as she rode the carousel for the first time. First there was apprehension as she sat on the horse, even more when the ride started, but shortly she smiled, shrugged her shoulders in relief and proceeded to thoroughly enjoy yhe experience. That 2 min. video was worth the cost of the whole trip and never fails to choke me up. In less than 2 weeks we'll repeat the process with her now 2 yr old sister.

My 2 year old nephew's 1st trip, we go to the Crystal Palace, he spots Pooh across the room, he breaks free from our group and runs across the restaurant and right up to Pooh, Pooh kneels down and gives him a bear hug and my nephew kisses Pooh on the nose....best part, my non-Disney brother, who had to be talked into even going to Disney, standing there watching his son all teary eyed....and I got it all on video. I have to get the kleenex out every time I watch it.

Trixie you arent the only one. I put this on another chat room her on DIS but will tell you my story. I have 2 daughters...they were 5 and 3 at the time and we were coming across the boat and when they saw the castle fast approaching they were jumping up and down hugging each other as my hubby was video taping it all. they were yelling "Cinderella is real!!!" [of course she is]. As they were doing this other people were smiling and tearing up just watching them so excited and I swear i needed a valium to stop crying...lol. Then when we got off the boat and went through the gates we were putting on sunscreen and we heard a voice thats said "princesses always wear sunscreen" we turned ariound and there was the CM from the boat [who must have heard my daughters excitement] and Cinderella...my girls almost fainted ....she bent down to talk to them and asked us where we were from we told her Canada...she said that it was perfect timing for us to come down to Florida to visit her...then she said to my daughters "I heard you were coming so I wanted to greet you...have a fantastic day"....ok now im crying after writing that...LOL.....they are only little once and we go back to WDW in May....I need to get my prescription refilled for valium[kidding]....

I have Pirates, not princesses, and I get choked up remembering past trips we have taken our oldest on and the upcoming first trip for our youngster (we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday). So no, you're not the only one. Many people do think we're 'freaks' for getting this way but I'm okay with that.

And I just wanted to say that I thought it was PRECIOUS when you said your DD prayed for a castle of her own. I'm pretty sure God smiled at that one!

OK I love it when my DD(6) gives me a BIG HUG when we are at DW and says "Daddy, I love you very much, you are the BEST!! " They do grow up fast, but she will always be daddy's little girl.

I'm tearing up just reading your stories, and I don't even have kids! "I think I must be in a dream"....come on, that would have killed me with happiness right there.

Even though I don't have kids, I always get a little choked up walking into the MK entrance. My last two trips were especially emotional. My DM and I took a week off to go there a few months after my father died. WDW has a wonderful way of making you feel that you have escaped the real world. It's almost impossible to be sad there. My second trip last year was special too, as my 81 year old DGM decided she wanted to take her 30 year old granddaughter to WDW, and then invited my DM along too. My grandfather had just passed away. We were 3 generations of women on a trip to forget our tragedies temporarily, and we had a BLAST.

I get emotional when I think about it, too, and I don't even have kids! Well, my DGF and I are big kids at heart, I guess. We cry everytime we see the opening ceremony of MK!

I get choked up too. I thought something was wrong with me. I would be sitting there during a show or parade, or a ride that the kids are having a lot of fun on and my eyes just tear up and I can't stop. Glad I'm not the only one

We are getting so excited about our trip. We talk about it everyday. My 4 year old is especially excited because he will turn 5 on the second day of our trip. He is so excited to spend his birthday at MK. I better pack some tissues in the backpack that day! I will be a mess for sure.

Oh no you are not alone...DH and I took our 2 nieces for their first trip ever...
age 3 and 10. I bawled every time they got excited and laughed and hugged characters and just enjoyed WDW....

DH said I was a lunatic lol

My DD will be 8 when we go. She's into the whole "Princess" thing and I know I'm going to loose it as well! Heck, when we got the DVD from Disney talking about Disney World I started to get teary eyed! The last time I went to Disney I was about 6 (we still have pictures! .. that was back in the early 70's) and I know I'm just going to be very emotional when we set foot in front of the Castle!!!!!

I get weepy just planning this next trip,
remembering the special times on our first trip
w/DS when he was 2 years old (now he's 4).
We drove down and the first night we decided
to head on over to Epcot for Illuminations.
Well... I felt like I was in a commercial for WDW...

I'm holding DS, looking at his beaming face staring in wonder
at the fireworks across and above the lagoon,
tears start streaming down my face,
then I notice the fireworks are reflected in his beautiful eyes,
and then he starts "yaying" and clapping!!
Oh my goodness... And that was only our first 5 hours!

A few days later we celebrated his birthday at the Crystal Palace
and he had on his birthday button (get one if you're celebrating,
the CM's made a huge deal out of it, as well as the characters he met),
and after eating we were walking by the piano player right outside.
Up walks the Deputy Mayor of WDW,
very "showmanship" type of guy (fun!), and he notices DS's button.
In front of literally a hundred-plus guests walking and milling
off of Main Street, he instructs everyone to sing Happy Birthday
to my little guy - and they did!
The piano player belted out the song, tons of people singing
my son's name (those who heard the DM ask his name - LOL).
Daddy got out the recorder thank the Lord,
and we got everything on tape - including the Deputy Mayor then
"interviewing" my DS, it was really cute!

Now, my DS is adopted which makes this next part really weepy for me:
The DM asks my son if he's married (I'm holding his hand),
and DS emphatically nods his head 'yes' for like a minute while everyone
started laughing, the DM looks at me and asks if I'm the lucky one,
DS nods even harder with this huge smile on his little face.
OMgosh, it was the most precious moment ever for me!

and you hit a nerve - in case you couldn't tell .

I still get choked up when I come out under the station-this time I hope to get all teary cos my DBf falls in love with the place too -but not as teary as if he doesn't like it at all
