How many of you follow the EMH to dictate where/when you go to a park?

Do any of you think a park is more crowded because of the EMH and avoid them?

I usually plan our trip around EMH but am having second thoughts about that strategy.
Thoughts???

Thanks

I don't let it dictate, but I'd use it as a guide.

I usually avoid EMH days because that park is usually busier. If you're going during a slow time, it may not make a difference. Or, you can go to the park that has morning EMH and then hop to another park once it starts to get busy.

I've never been to an evening EMH park so I don't know how that will affect crowds.

My next trip we will be staying off property, so we're avoiding EMH like the plauge

I do EMH in the evenings, but never the mornings. I have also learned to go to different parks than the EMH park and then just head there in the evening after I am done with said park. :)

We didn't do any EMH last week. The regular park hours were plenty for us and we were worried about EMH parks being more crowded.

I always go to AM EMH (virtually every day of the trip that we did not do a PM EMH late the night before)... never ONCE regretted an AM EMH... they are amazingly empty and easy to ride the open attractions.
If that park THEN starts to fill 2 to 3 hours later...
Were happy with "doing" that park for the day and we can HOP elsewhere or do lunch and take a rest until later.

PM EMH's are a mixed bag. I've been when they were PACKED... but on other nights (sometimes within the same trip), the crowds were basically so low that it was like "free rides" on all the open attractions.

Those who have attended PM EMH's and say that "they are TOO CROWDED" are right... but ONLY for the nights they may have attended.
I can say, from personal experience, that they CAN be EMPTY, or FULL or somewhere IN-BETWEEN for attendance, often within the same week.

It can change so much (either way), that saying it was "like X" on a given night, can be meaningless on another night in the same time-period. So, you simply don't KNOW unless you go. Its similar to saying that you attended on a given night and it rained, so guests should never go on that night because it will probably be rainy.

And, considering EMH's are FREE to attend... if its busy, just people-watch or hit the exit (where ELSE are ya gonna go at 10pm, anyway?)
But if its not busy... you're ALL SET for EXTRA FUN!

I've always heard that EMH mornings at AK was the best one of them all, better chances to see animals on Kilimanjaro Safari, or perhaps better chance for EE, any info on that???

True. We love the AK in the early morning.

The AM EMH's in all the parks offer the best advantage/lowest crowds in the attractions that are open.

We have had great experiences with the morning EMH at AK, especially with the Safari's. In general, we are morning people, and have consistently used the morning EMH as a guide to where we go first. With Expedition Everest available in AK this year, we rode it first, then got a fastpass for it again, and then went on the Safari. However, we are Everest nuts and love the ride so much we could go on it all day.
We have little experience with the evening EMH, since we are usually worn out by then.

My experience with EMH the week before Christmas was mixed. Sunday night they had EMH at MK. There was literally NOONE there. All of the rides were a walk-on (except Peter Pan for some reason...). It was wonderful. It was a later EMH that didn't start until 10pm, so that might have had something to do with it. However, on Monday night we did the EMH for MGM and it was a nightmare!!!! The 8:30 showing of Fantasmic (which was 30 minutes after the official park closing) was standing room only (I hear that the stadium holds 8,000+ people...??? We were lucky to get 2nd row, center stage seats, but we were also on our honeymoon and got some pixie dust thrown our way) The rest of the evening was miserably crowded and we ended up leaving early. ToT and R&R had 50+ minute waits. It was wall to wall people and you could barely move. I was told by a cast member that MGM seems really crowded on EMH nights b/c there isn't a whole lot of attractions open. If we had been smart, we would have skipped Fantasmic that night and went on all of the rides during the show.

I traveled with a group who are not "early morning people", so we took full advantage of the EMH's at night..

They were AWESOME! We just walked on to whatever rides we wanted to..:thumbsup2
