My girlfriend and I are taking a trip to WDW the last week in July and we are starting to think about our touring plans. Obviously since we are going in July it's going to be very busy.

My questions is are the extra magic hours with the extra crowds that come with them? It's only one extra hour in the morning so my initial thought is no but I'd love to hear some opinions. Thanks!

You can really do a lot in that one hour because most people are going to forgo it. Especially if they are very early (like this a.m. they are 0700 EMH at MK). You could drag yourselves out of bed, enjoy a more subdued park for a couple/few hours, grab breakfast, and take a nap. Afternoon at pool. Then back in the evening. That could make for a really great day :) Especially in July when midday is brutal (have done it several times, like it, but you have to plan accordingly)

July is not only busy time but a very hot time. They way I would plan out this time frame is take advantage of EMH in the mornings with the lower crowds, leave the park about noon and take some pool time then head over to another park that evening. It's surprising how much you can get done in the morning with EMH.

That's actually a great idea. We definitely wanted to sit down and have breakfast, we didn't even think about doing a few hours in the park and then having breakfast in the park. Thanks for the tip!

you could have it in park or you could head back to resort. Either way, fill your tummies and take a nap :)

We too LOVE that extra hour in the mornings, especially in the summer. BUT you need to be AT the park at least 15 minutes before that opening to take full advantage of it.

You may want to try the late EMH at MK if it extends to at least midnight, and even better if it goes to 1:00 a.m. The later it goes, the less crowded the park will get. Just be sure you plan in a later morning the next day to allow you to get some sleep.

We had a late EMH at MK last week from 11-1am. We LOVED it! Everything that we wanted was essentially walk on, especially the closer it got to 1am! 7DMT had a posted 90 min wait at about 11:15, but I looked at the line and realized it wasn't anywhere near 90 min. I talked to a CM and he quietly shook his head no when I asked if it was 90 min wait. We hopped in line and waited maybe 20. So don't be surprised if wait times seem inflated.

The extra magic hour is the best. You do get so much more accomplished. Also, work your way to the back of the park; so, when it opens to the general public you will still have lower crowds in the back of the park for at least an half hour.

As others have said, highly worth it. The morning EMH itself is rarely too crowded and you should be able to enjoy several rides. Keep in mind that (1) not all rides are open for EMH and (2) the EMH experience varies from park to park. I find that EMH at MK and AK are great, DHS is pretty good. Just figure out which rides you want to ride and have at it. And the first hour or so after morning EMH is also pretty good, so you can get a lot done then as well.

Shoot for the last breakfast slot (especially if character dining) and you will find a less crowded location and characters that are not as rushed.

Definitely sounds like we need to take advantage of the EMH! One more question: right now pretty much all the parks the week we are going in July are showing the parks being open from 9am-9pm with the EMH being 8am-9am. Is that subject to change? I just found it odd that right now the MK is open from 8am-12am but during another busy time of the year its only open 9am-9pm?

The hours will probably change to a later closing, but there's a good chance we won't see that change until just a few weeks out. Not sure why Disney does it this way now, but they do.
