My family is coming to visit next month and they are staying at AoA so obviously they are eligible for EMH but I am not.

Will I still be able to let them in with my main gate? I seem to remember having a place where they check for it once you’re inside the gate at AK and MK. So I assume everyone is “admitted” but just can’t get past the checkpoint, which is fine with me. Does anyone know for sure?

The CM has to enter first at the touchpoint and because you aren’t on the reservation, you won’t be allowed to enter. The guest passes are only valid if you enter first.

It will work if you add your name to the reservation.

Are they allowed to be in the park without you with the main gate pass?

Once you admit your guests, certain (primary) family members are allowed to be without you while they tour the parks. Other (extended) family members and friends must always be accompanied by you. All the rules are spelled out on the CM website.

As for them entering the park initially without you...I’m not sure on that.

The are my immediate family so they can be in the parks without me.

Adding me to the reservation would cost them money and I think might put them over the room limit anyway since it’s a family suite and they have 6.

Yeah, I have to enter first but I was thinking ANYONE is admitted into the park, and once you are in the park you then must go through another set of CMs to show you have an on-site reservation. In MK this would be at the entrance to the different lands; and I’m certain anyone can get in MS early. At AK I remember having to tap in on an iPad shortly after you go left in the oasis. This was shortly after Pandora opened though.

I guess my question was, is there a secondary touchpoint in all the parks? Maybe I should just try to go to EMH before they get here and find out.

When I went to HS a few weeks ago, they tapped my band before I even entered the park to see that I had a resort reservation.

There was someone else who was next to me and obviously didn’t and they directed the, elsewhere.

So, I think they would be able to enter once it’s confirmed they are guests And you’ve swiped them into the park.

When I was at AK a month ago you entered then you hade to go left and scan your hands agin they only did one person in each group not everyone

Thanks for the first hand account. I feel like DHS right now might be a bit different though since it’s opening 3 hours early every day. That will be over by the time they get here.

Does anyone remember checking in a second time at any parks?

We've had to check in at MK near the bridge to Tomorrowland. A group near us without hotel reservations was told they had to stay on Main Street or the circle in front of the castle. Those with breakfast reservations check in on the opposite side (near the walkway to Liberty Square).

You may not want to try entering a park during EMH for any park other than MK.

Disney tracks everything regarding CM entry at the parks. CMs who call in sick and then enter a park that day are immediately terminated. Disney will know you entered during the EMH hour without being a resort guest even if there were a secondary touchpoint.

Surely employees can go to parks on days they work as long as they don’t miss work...

That said, I’m part time and probably wouldn’t try on a day I’m scheduled anyway.

I was using that as an example how Disney checks CM entrance to all the parks.

Even as a part-time CM, you’d be using your MainGate to enter a park during a time period designated for onsite guests. CMs usually don’t jeopardize their jobs.

But if the OP is only going into the holding zone that is Main Street they are not really doing anything wrong. After all, most parks open their gates before official opening time most days just to get people through the turnstiles. And lots of people legitimately do turn up at the parks earlier than posted opening times.

I would say head to your chosen park during an EMH before your family arrive and go and ask the question of the gate staff responsible for the Main Gate pass entry point. They should know the answer, shouldn’t they?

Correct, that’s why I’ve already advised in a previous post:
“You may not want to try entering a park during EMH for any park other than MK.”
