OK, I've learned from experience to avoid EMH morning hours at AK. Are there others I should avoid during my May 21-28 visit? What about EMH evening hours? What good/bad experiences have you had recently?

For the most part, I like the EMH at night. However, I have had not so good EMH experiences in the AM. I know alot of people like the EMH mornings, but the times I have been there, its be gridlock.

I agree with you. AK is the worst morning EMH. There doesn't seem to be enough open, so you still wait for everything. I've done EMH at the other three parks and had no problems at all. MK, most of the rides were walk on and at Epcot, Mission Space and Test Track were 5 minute waits. Of course this was in Feb when it is sort of slow. I hope this helps. :)

Hey squeakymouse.....we'll be there May 21-28 also! Where r u staying? We'll be at CBR. Hope you have a great trip!!

What good/bad experiences have you had recently?

We were there Pres week when MK was open until 11pm or midnight every night and EMH was midnight to 3AM on Wed. DD and I entered the park around 10PM on Monday and it was empty! Last minute uncrowded viewing of a late SpectroMagic parade and walk ons to most including Peter Pan. By contrast, the night of the EMH the park did not thin out until around 1:30Am.
If hours are similiar when you're going, I suggest to MK late on a non EMH night.

We will be there May 21-26, staying at POFQ, and we won't do any EMH mornings because I can't get everyone up and out that early, but I'm wondering what to do about EMH evenings. There seems to be a wide variety of experiences as far as how crowded they are, so right now I'm planning on going to a non-EMH park during the day and then, if we have any energy left, going to the evening EMH park late at night. If it's too crowded, we'll just leave and go to the hotel pool!

When dh and I made a last minute, long weekend trip to WDW over Halloween weekend this past fall, we found AK to be nearly empty on that Saturday. When we returned on the EE morning, it was packed!! A couple of CM's at different locations throughout the park commented that it was always like this on EE days. This park just can't handle the crowds. It doesn't help that so few things are open during this hour.

I usually spend/waste that time doing Donald's Breakfastosaurus.

We tried the EMH night at MK on Wednesday - the week before Easter. We stayed until about 2:00, but it was still packed. There was still about 60 minute waits on BTR and Splash, 50 mins. for Buzz, and 90 for Space Mtn. Maybe it was just because of the time frame we were there... It was crowded all the time! I would much rather do the mornings any day...

I'm not expert, but the idea of EMH sounds like a great idea because it gives resort guests more time at the park. But the EMH morning is just an hour and I can understand if you want to go that early and stay at the park. But some people go for just that 1 hour. Seems too much of a hassle to wake up early and go for an hour and leave.

I've visited parks for just the first hour then moved onto others once the crowds began to build. Most of the time, you can walk right onto/into attractions which will have long lines and FP wait times later in the day. As a parent of 2 preschoolers, it's worth getting up early just to avoid the very lengthy waits of Dumbo. EMH a.m. also allows my ds12 to ride all the coasters while the day is still young. Because EMH draws so many resort guests who do linger through the morning/day, the parks become really crowded once guests staying off-site also are admitted. It takes very little time to hop on a bus/monorail and head to a less busy park. Even with 3 children in tow, this is very do-able. :flower:
