Ok but they didn't pick up any of our ride photos, I can't charge to them, they don't have resort info/can't open my room door. They can access my FP+ and park entry, that's about it. They are not at all like a MBYour plastic tickets have built-in RFID chips.
They ARE your KTTW tickets.
They can access your MDE files, just like a MB.
I have to disagreeI've always felt that it is probably too much of a bother (and just bad PR) to "kick" or deny guests out of the park for late night EMH. So they probably just don't enforce it.
It's not that great of a perk anyway, the parks would probably normally be low crowds if they simply kept the park open to 1:00 AM normally simply due to most people not wanting to be out until 1:00 AM!
I mean, why would they really care? There are probably thousands of resort guests that aren't utilizing the PM EMH at the parks, so who cares if a few hundred off-site guests are still at the park having a good time (and probably spending money on food, drinks and souvenirs).
We think its a big perk, because we usually always do evening EMH and the we notice a big difference on ride lines and crowd level, especially the last 2 hours. Sounds like you do not utilize night EMH so do not care, but we care! It gets old on how people do not think rules should not apply to them.Ok but they didn't pick up any of our ride photos, I can't charge to them, they don't have resort info/can't open my room door. On mk early morn-we walked straight in?!

We could have caught a Disney resort bus & not have been resort guests though...They check Guests at TTC.
They know everybody else has arrived on a Disney Resort bus.![]()

I assume that it you aren't using a MB, you just flash your room key?

Anyone else want to take this one?
Apparently I've lost all of my DIS-cred on this board, today.![]()
OK, Robo, I'll start (and my money is STILL on you!).
In a nutshell, Magic Bands have long-range and short-range RFID capability, so they detect more than your KTTW cards would. KTTW cards are only short-range. Because they are short range RFID, they won't communicate with the technology at your ride photos. They CAN"T be detected by ride photo technology, so the ride won't pick up the signal and therefore doesn't "know" you are there. The magic bands, with the long-range RFID, communicate with the ride photography technology, know where you are, and know to link your photo to your MDE account. (I think I have this right- it's how I understand they work.)
I don't know why you couldn't charge to your cards, and why they didn't open your door. With a short-range RFID, you should have been able to charge to the room (did you link a credit card to your room account?), and they definitely should have opened your door. How DID you get into your room?
with my ROOM key ... did anyone read that I was at Shades of Green? Have you ever stayed at Shades of Green? You can use EMH but it's not a Disney hotel.
I am just curious how much they do enforce it. Are they REALLY going to turn away a family from going on a not very busy ride at 11:05 PM because they aren't resort guests (potentially giving them a bad experience?) .. or will they just let it slide as long as the rides are moving pretty quickly?

Fearless leader has been questioned??? Oh NO!
When we stayed at swan and dolphin last year we had MBs from an earlier trip that we used for park tickets, but we just flashed our room keys for EMH although, you couldn't buy MBs at that point so we often just flashed our MBs and they let us on became only those on site had MBs.
True, but how many,if any,off-site Guest are going to go to the trouble of doing that just to access an AM EMH at MKWe could have caught a Disney resort bus & not have been resort guests though...

That's what I have been wondering-why your SoG card was being called a Key To The World card in some posts.with my ROOM key ... did anyone read that I was at Shades of Green? Have you ever stayed at Shades of Green? You can use EMH but it's not a Disney hotel.
There was a very noticeable difference last year Christmas week between the night with EMH (until 3 am) and the regular late night hours (until 1 am)-- and not just at 2 in the morning but 11-12 regular night were much much more crowded. My point was ..
I wonder if there would be a noticeable crowd difference between an evening EMH 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM or if simply the park stayed open an extra 2 hours for everyone.
My argument was, that because it is so late, the park would simply be less crowded in general without EMH, so the "perk" may not be much of an advantage. The advantage comes from simply staying at the park later than anyone else normally would, not because you are an on-site guest.
Obviously it is great those who take advantage of it now, but is it really a "perk" if they don't actively enforce that you ARE a resort guest?

When we've stayed at SOG they've given out some sort of paper card with dates of stay on it in addition to the room key.
