My wife and I are going to Disney world for the umptenth time this December, staying at the Poly for the first time (very excited!) :cool1: . I've read threads about avoiding EMH parks days of evening hours, but most of those people wrote this in the busy times of the summer. What about for off peak times? Such as Sept and Dec?

Well,we did EMH the first week of Feb 2005 which is supposed to be very slow as well...and it was nuts. First time I had been to Disney in Feb that it was this crazy.

I am not sure that early December will not be quite crowded this year, there is Mousefest, Pop Werner, and the DVC resorts are sold out as well as some of the value resorts...

I will be going Dec 2-10th and avoiding late EMHs, but taking advantage of early EMH

You know what? I think it just depends. We went in Feb (should have been a busy time over Pres week) when the MK had EMH til 3 AM. What a hoot! ( If you don't have little kids, anyway) We walked right onto absolutely everything.

We have enjoyed the EMH... but you really don't know how crowded a day is going to be. We went in mid Feb for my son's birthday... supposedly off season. Thurs & Friday we walked on to rides... the weekend was a bit more crowded but still wonderful... then Monday OMG! We were at MK and could not move!!!! It was busier than Christmas week!! We finally found out it was the day after the Daytona 500... EVERYONE went straight from Daytona to MK! It was awful.
It's hard to even think of that kind of stuff in advance.
What we have found is if you have Hopper tickets... just go to a different park. Often if MK or Epcot are crowded AK or MGM may not be. On New Year's eve we were arriving 'early' at MK so we could see the fireworks that night. EVERY bus... every boat and the Monorail were jammed!! Swarms of people heading in. One family with small kids was leaving. We asked if it was crowded and they just rolled thier eyes... and all those people coming had yet to enter!! So we got back on the bus and went to AK... just about had the place to ourselves!! It was awesome. We watched the fireworks from the Poly... perfect! :flower:

Went the first two weeks after Labor Day and only did Mk and Epcot EMH. Everything was walk on both for regular days and EMH days and hours. Like others have said though it really depends on the time of year and since this is the first year of EMH no one can really say what you can expect in December.

I would try avoiding going in front of the castle during MK EMH because they have the characters out in front and it can get kinda crowded.

Epcots EMH you need to decide if you want to do the World Showcase or Future World because there isn't enough time to do both. We tried and ended up exhausted.

Just an added note:When we were at MK they had rides opened that were not listed on the EMH list. At Epcot for some reason Test Track was open until EMH was over for the entire park(although Future world is suppose to close one hour earlier). The list they give you seems to be a general guide line more than a hard fast ride sheet.

Just returned from a 2 week trip - first week was value season, 2nd was regular. 2nd week was definitely more crowded. We did EMH for all 3 parks the 1st week, and with the exception of Epcot they were all great. Epcot wasn't worth it for us - 50 minutes for Soarin, can't remember what MS was, but no fast passes for either. We used fast pass for Test Track & also rode Spaceship Earth & Living with the Land, but that was it. MK was great - rode every ride in Fantasyland & Tomorrowland with little or no wait, some rides more than once.

We were there the week following Labor Day and evening EMH were practically deserted- we literally could run around and get right back on rides including Space & Splash Mountains, RnR Coaster, Tower of Terror, and Test Track. The only wait was for Soarin' and that was about 10-15 minutes.

But from what I'm hearing there are very few weeks like that!

We were there last week. On Wednesday we saw SpectroMagic and Wishes, then stayed for EMH . I was terrified after the reports here, but after Wishes we stopped at Cosmic Ray's for dinner, then walked on rides from 10:00-midnight. It was awesome! We rode BTMR twice without getting off. It was practically empty! And much cooler than during the day.
