I've seen this posted a few times on DIS, but I've never heard it elsewhere.

Anyone know what this statement is based on? Any Disney releases? "Reputable sources"? Conjecture??

:confused3

Hard to keep track of ALL things FP+ -- apologies if this has already been discussed -- just point me to the thread if so. :)

SWAG.

(Look it up.) ;)

(And not quite so much "S," in this case.)

I hope not. the emh parks are good pulls each day to keep the major crowds lower in the other parks.

I think it is just a "hunch" a lot of people have.:)

I think they base it on the elimination of Evening Extra Magic Hours at DAK and the reduction of EEMH from 3 hours to 2 hours at the other Parks.:)

Some see that as an "indication" EMH may be on the way out-only time will tell.:)

Rumor, unsubstantiated.

And since it appears FP+ will be available to off-site guests, I'm not sure why elimination of EMH and addition of fp+ would be connected. They need some benefits to draw guests on site.

Thanks all!! I suspected it was a hunch, or something like that. ;)

I don't want to see those early EMH go away... :(

As others have stated, Disney has made no statements regarding the end of EMH and this is merely a rumor. So I've moved this thread to the Disney Rumors and News forum. :)

Ok! But I'd bet this is the board where most people look for answers to questions like these -- I know I do, anyway. :)

Extra FP+ slots for on property?

As for the OP- It is just theory/conjecture at this point that Disney could use FP+ to even out crowd levels across the parks making staffing easier and more consistent experiences for all.

Maybe EMH will be one of the possible FP+ perks?

Maybe EMH will work like the ParkHopper option now and be an extra charge for EHM access?

There has been NO information regarding extra fastpass slots for staying onsite as far as I am aware, nada, zip, zilch. I suspect there won't be any when it rolls out. That's just another hunch though ;) but as far as I'm aware onsite get 10 extra days to prebook fastpasses and the magic band included. I would venture to say things like that will be the 'hook' aspect for onsite guests. Easy to offer, don't complicate crowd planning algorithms for disney, cost nothing or very little, keeps things balanced in general. Don't hold out for extra fastpasses. It's possible, but not likely IMO.

I have no opinion on EMH though.

EMH is a huge part of the reason I stay on site. I'm already annoyed that the hours have been reduced. I might not be inclined to go as often if they are eliminated altogether.

I say restore the EMH as they were instead of reducing them further.

Recently Disney did a Facebook poll as why guests stay on site.... And EMH won #1 hands down. In guessing If eliminating it was in the plan for the not too distant future they wouldn't do something like this and then make a big graphic proclaiming the number one reason people stay on site is EMH

EMH have been rumored to be going away for some time now. Even without FP+ going live. I don't think this will go away when it goes live but I do have a feeling that it will go sometime in the not to distant future. Yes it is a perk of staying at a disney resort and I love that but I think new perks will come with this new system. At least thats what I've heard that certain perks will come to disney resort guests using FP+. I don't know if that true but well just have to wait and see.

I would assume that EMH will eventually go away, and in its place on-site guests would be able to claim more FP+ slots than day guests.

EMH must be very expensive to implement, with all of the extra staffing and operational costs - plus it reduces the amount of time for maintenance overnight. The objective of EMH is (arguably) to provide more "ride time" and more "usable time" in the parks, which (again, arguably) could be achieved by giving resort guests an extra 2 or 3 (or 4, or 5) Fastpass+ slots.

This would also allow Disney to differentiate between resort levels - e.g. Values get an extra 1 FP per day, Moderates 2, Deluxes 3 - in order to try to "upsell" guests.

Of course a lot of people would be upset if they did this, as they value and use EMH.

But on the other hand, I would guess that a lot of people are attracted to the idea of EMH but don't actually use it - i.e. they go to the allocated EMH park each day, planning to use their "amazing perk", but underestimate how long it takes to get 4 people through one bathroom and negotiate Disney buses, and end up arriving after regular opening time. Or they are too exhausted at 9pm to stand another 3 hours in the parks. Extra FP slots might be more useful to them.

Another group of guests (including myself) deliberately avoid EMH because of the extra crowds it brings. Park crowd levels on a given day are skewed towards the park with EMH on that day; replacing with an increased FP allocation at any park would be more useful to them, and would help even the crowds out a bit which would probably be attractive to Disney operationally.

All of which is conjecture, of course. Just my $0.02.
