emh and splash mountain closure conflict

We are going to the parks from January 3-January 6 and will use one day at each park. Splash Mountain is closed starting January 4, but the last open day, January 3, is an EMH morning at MK and we're staying off resort. I have been plotting out all the days so we miss EMH.

Should we go anyway so we don't miss it? My boys are 5 and 7 and will love this ride (as do I). If we do go, is there any point in getting there before 9 (as in do they ever let the non-EMH people in before 9 actually?)

We will definitely return to MK for an evening on one of the other days.

All tips appreciated.

I realize I may be a 'little' biased, but do not miss Splash Mountain. It is a unique experience among all of the attractions at WDW. If you've never been on it, by all means take the opportunity to experience it.

Tip: Go to flickr.com or YouTube and search for 'Splash Mountain Disney World'. There are tons of pictures & videos featuring Splash Mountain. That way, you can determine if Splash Mountain is worth any possible extra crowds at the MK. Also, you can use Fastpasses for Splash & several other attractions at the MK.

Splash Mt is pretty special. You might want to consider going on the 3rd. The ride is not included in the morning EMH. Frontierland is closed and they have it roped off until the regular park opening time. But I wouldn't want to ride it early in the morning in january anyways. In fact, I don't know if I'd want to ride on it in January at all. You can get pretty wet.

Sometimes they open a bit before opening hours, but it's been just a matter of 5-10 minutes or so when we've encountered this.

Even though Splash Mountain is not open during Morning Extra Magic Hour, they don't let in guests who stay offsite until 9:00 AM when it's over.

This is exactly what we're doing. We arrive on the 3rd, and I've never done it, and my other friends love it..soo..to MK we go!

What are the chances that they won't close Splash on the 4th? We don't arrive until the 4th & it's one of our very favorites!!! Do they ever not close as scheduled?
