EMH and Soarin

Ok so our first day touring will be in Epcot and we really wanted to try Soarin. I was planning to send dh ahead to get FP and then we would meet up and decide how to proceed. However they day we will be there they are opening from 8-9 EMH. Do I still need dh to get FP, do they even give them out during that time? Or can I take our time to get over there?
