For our first night I wanted to make ressies for a nice dinner.. not too $$$$ (no kids, just me and the DW)

Which would you choose and why?

Based on us staying at the Portofino, which is closer?

I see NO PRICES on the official website for Emril's, but Tchoup Chop has them.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

I haven't eaten at Emeril's, but recently had dinner at Tchoup Chop and LOVED it. Everything we put in our mouths at Tchoup Chop was WONDERFUL and the service was superb. You say you don't want to spend too much $$$$. If that's the case, then neither restaurant will fit the bill (so to speak). We had two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, coffee and tea (NO drinks or wine) and the bill before tip was $104.

I agree with gschmerl - Tchoup Chop is fantastic - I've been there twice - great both times. We've also eaten at Emeril's - again very good, but we prefer Tchoup Chop - we like the atmosphere better.

However, neither of these restaurants is inexpensive. You really have to count on at least $100 for two. If you just have an entree and a beverage (no alcohol) it can be done for less.

Tchoup Chop is about 7 minutes walk farther, but definately worth it. I think they were slightly cheaper too. We ate at both and we loved Tchoup chop, hated Emerils. I think it depends on the kind of food you like, but we also thought the decor at Tchoup Chop was so much better and loved the food.

We stayed at the Royal Pacific after our cruise on the Disney Wonder. On our last day, we had lunch at Tchoup Chop--a nice treat before leaving for the airport. It was a fantastic experience. The food & service were outstanding and the restaurant is lovely. I agree with other posters that it was rather expensive, but it was an experience that we'll remember for a long time. I think lunch is a bit less expensive than dinner, and I'm sure the atmosphere is enhanced by evening lighting.

We had both lunch and dinner at Tchoup Chop. The dinner menu has a LOT more to offer.

If you go to Emerils.com, you should be able to pull up the menu w/ prices for Emerils Orlando.
