A couple of years ago I took advantage of the free upgrade to Emerald executive level. My executive level was set to expire in February 2010 but when I check online it now says that I'm still executive level and the expiration date is February 2011. I only rented once this past year so I'm not sure why the expiration date was extended. Anyone else have this happen. Am I really still executive level or is a mistake?

Yay! I'm off to go check mine as I am in the same boat as you....

edit: I just checked mine and I am back to emerald club membership through 2037. No more executive aisle. :(

If you figure out how you got yours extended to Feb 2011, please let us know! Quite a few of us had the free Executive Aisle benefit for a few years and I know I'd like mine to be extended if I could....

I think there was a level of randomness to the expiration, except that there was a chance to reapply at some point and get the status extended to 2011. I missed that, but still show Executive status through 2037! My DH just expired after 2/28/10, but he still has a reservation booked for next week which is priced based on his prior Exec status. -- Suzanne

off i went to check the mr's...his now states feb 11, 2011:banana:

we make it a point to always use national, yet i know we're nowhere near the qualifying rentals:confused3

Well let me chime in with the opposite. We are Exec members and have been 5 years now (no freebies for us, just rent more than 40 days a year). Went in yesterday and it says we are back down to Emerald Club!! What!! I got on the phone so fast and they agreed there is something wrong with the system and the accounts and they are working on it and should have it fixed soon. We have rented over 50 days in 2009 and have already rented 10 for this year alone and the agent agrees we still qualify for Exec Status (and I knew that as I do watch carefully, esp. the year we lost it when we were short by 1 day) and it should be fixed soon. I told them we are renting this Saturday and are booked on Executive Aisle and really don't want to have any issues. So I expect there will be some upcoming changes to the accounts as soon as they work out the bugs. I was not a happy camper at all and will be calling them again tomorrow as they promised me it would be fixed between 24-48 hours. So now there are people who don't qualify and it shows they have it and there are people who do qualify who show they don't have it. It shouldn't be this hard, and I've never had a problem before. (I also emailed them too, just to make sure it gets fixed, soon.):scared1:

n2mm - if you're renting more than 40 days a year, u should be getting some freebies...as in reward days;) good luck getting ur account ironed out

Darn! I wonder how some people got the extension to 2011 and others didn't?

I got my upgrade the same way you did and mine was also extended one year even though I didn't have enough usage to qualify. I noticed my extension because I made a reservation for this summer before the extension was posted and was surprised when it came up as Executive Selection. About a week later I went back in and looked at my account again and it had the expiration date of Feb 2011. I don't know if making the reservation caused it to extend or if it was just coincidence. But I am happy to have the Executive Selection for my summer vacation this year.

Hmmm... doesn't seem to make much sense the way it is working now. If there was a chance to sign up to extend to Feb 28 of 2011, I missed it.

I called National and asked about getting mine extended through Feb 28, 2011 also. They said that they do not extend automatically unless you've met the requirements during the year for executive status.

I'd say your extension was a mistake but I certainly wouldn't ask about it to tip them off.

Thanks, I emailed them on Monday after seeing the drop of my Exec status and they fixed it today and sent me an email telling me the issue has been resolved. That is a relief since I'm renting this weekend on Executive Aisle. I think we rented 46 days last year and that's because we rented from Alamo one trip for 7 days or it would've been 53 days! After my conversation with them on Monday they did mention that there were some issues they were trying to resolve.

That's funny, but brave of you to ask. I remember one year when I had counted wrong and thought for sure I was at 40 days only to find out that they counted differently from me. I too called and since I was at 39 days, I thought, maybe they would let me slide since I was honest and told them my count was off and that I would surely have added a few days to my rental, or even rented a car locally for the weekend. That was a no go for us, and they didn't buy it at all and we stayed at the Emerald aisle until I got my 40 days in that year and got moved back up (probably by October that year). I over count now, just to make sure I don't miss it by one again.

FYI, if people start calling National to see why some got extended, the glitch will be fixed. People on the DIS do the same thing with coupons or ID's they are not sure if they should use, thus tipping National off that there is a problem and then everyone loses the good deals....

Shhhhhhh! If you got extended, let it be and enjoy it.....

Exactly - don't rock the boat and just enjoy it if you got extended. Please don't ruin it for everyone :sad2:

Don't throw away anything that appears to be junk mail in a silver & green envelope sent from National.

just opened a mailing from national addressed to me, not the mr who has all our account activity thru his account

i don't think i've ever had a rental run booked under my name ( sure didn't think it'd be executive level:confused3)

anyway, the good news came with a master rental agreement to complete & return & states, in part:

'congratulations on earning the privleges of Emerald Club Executive membership for another year...'

Thought this was interesting. Today I received an email from National with a personal apology for messing up my account last month (dropping me from the Executive status even though I had rented the required amount of time). While the situation was resolved quickly, the fact that they took the time to write me an apology was unexpected, but nice that they took the time to do it.
