First time renting from National and I signed up for the Emerald Club. I reserved an intermediate car under the Emerald Club. How does this work? Do I just go to where the cars are? Is there a sign for the type of car you can select? Anyone have a first time experience to share? Leaving in one week!!!

So with Emerald Club you booked an Intermediate which means probably that your level of service is "Emerald Aisle" which means you head to the aisle that says "Emerald Aisle" and pick from that aisle. It will more than likely have only Intermediates but sometimes, if you are lucky, might have an upgrade on it.

If you book any other size, then you go to the aisle of the size you booked. Each aisle is clearly marked. That level of service is called "Emerald Reserve".

You bypass the counter with either Emerald Reserve or Emerald Aisle. The only time you might have to go to the counter is if you use an upgrade coupon or rent a carseat.

It's really easy and you'll enjoy it!

Edited to add that after you get your luggage, I believe you go up to street level and cross the street and follow the signs to National. The keys will be in the car!

We just signed up for Emerald too based on what we had read about the convenience - I loved the fact that we could go from baggage claim to our car. I wonder though how far it actually is. We're leaving in two weeks. You'll love staying at a Universal hotel - you will be spoiled forever, however, never having to wait on a line the whole time!

It's not far from baggage claim - just right across the street, no shuttles to the lot, easy walk to the waiting cars, your choice of which cars you'd like to have. I *love* being an Emerald Club member & bypassing the counter lines :teeth: . When I go to WDW, price is a factor, but so is convenience...I do not like wasting precious vacation time in lines(unless there is a really great WDW attraction at the end of that line, haha.)
If you have any questions, I would check out the Rental Cars page at www.MouseSavers.com . Many of your questions (along with great tips for getting really good car rental rates) will probably be answered there.

agnes!

I didn't pay - used the mousesavers.com link to join using that turner travel. Though I used entertainment book coupon to receive $20.00 off.

So if I have a coupon I have to go to wait in line? I can't just give it to the person when I am leaving with the car?

Thanks for the information people - you have been the best on any of my inquires so far!!

No, I said if you have an upgrade coupon you will be send to the counter. All other coupons you use, you can head straight to the cars.

Make sure your reservation was made when logged in to Emerald Club. If you made it while logged in, your confirmation says, "National Car Rental thanks you MCEFALO. Your reservation number is xxxxxxxxx. Please proceed directly to the EMERALD AISLE to choose your vehicle."

If you made your ressie under the normal screen without logging in to EC first, you are required to go to the counter to present your coupon. Double check your ressie.

Actually, from baggage claim you take the elevator DOWN one level. This is the level that the car rental counters are on. You by-pass them and head for the rental lot in the parking garage across the street. Simply follow signs.

That's why I said "I believe". Oh well. I knew it was only one level though, just forgot if it was up or down, but now I won't forget. ;)

Thanks everyone for your help - found my confirmation - says to proceed to Emerald Aisle - yeah!!
