Brother is the only brand that can embroider disney stuff. However you are not allowed to wear them at Disney.

Check out your local sewing and vac stores. Also check walmart. At the sew & vac store I was able to test sew before buying, they also help when I have problems. To me that was worth the extra money.

I own a brother machine and love it. Brother did have a disney version that came pre-loaded with some designs. Might want to check it out.

I did spend a lot of $ on it but it does everything I need...sew, serge and embroider.

Check out the craft section of dis boards. But you could get lots of infor there.

There are no embroidery police at Disney. You can wear anything (as long as it reasonable--not pornographic or whatever).

The Brother machines (that have a model number ending in D) come pre-loaded with Disney themed designs and are the only things that can read the Disney embroidery cards.

There are other people who are making Disney designs that can be used on other machines. Those designs are not officially licensed by Disney, but no one is going to say anything at the park.

This is a completely inaccurate statement. I make Disney themed clothes for my kids for each Disney trip. Cast Members actually compliment me on their clothes.

I would also recommend a Brother. I started with a 270D model that i got off of Craigs list. This has some preprogrammed Disney designs and a 4x4 embroidery field. I love it, but I decided I wanted a 5x7 field, so I purchased a Brother PE 770. It does NOT have the pre programmed designs, but I much prefer purchasing appliques to use with my machine - I think they are better quality than the preprogrammed designs. I also found that I much prefer an applique(fabric with stitching around the edges) over a fill design (all stitching).

I got my 770 off of HSN on flex pay!

If you have more questions - come ask on the Disboutique board - there are alot of us with different machines!!!:wizard:

Well than my family should have been kicked out many times. I make all of our shirts to wear @ Disney from the Brother machine. I even have the brother Disney applique machine & use that too.

Thank you everyone I will definitely look into the Brother . I will check our Walmart today they are taking the craft section out . So I may be able to get it at a great price

I help out in the Dis Big Give for children with life threatening illnesses going on trips with Make a Wish. We make clothing with lots of disney characters on them, and they have never gotten kicked out of a park for wearing their custom clothes!!!

By the way - if any of you are sewers or would even like to just send pixie dust to these wonderful families come on over and join us!! The more people we have, the more families we can pixie dust!!!! Just click on the link in my signature!!! There are a bunch of us on the crafty threads around here!!

:goodvibes

OH, nevermind. Anywho, I like the idea of purchasing appliques. I want one of these machines, bad!! :)

If you do get a machine, please share the price and what you think of it. I would like an embroidery machine, too, but I don't know anything about them! I have already learned more than what I knew by the posts on this thread. :goodvibes
