Placed a request for a trade to Hawaii on April 29 for the first 3 months of 2005. I requested the Marriotts, Westin and the Embassy Suites. (All by the way, on Dean's recommendation.) They all have a/c.

Today I got a call confirming a match for Embassy Suites in Maui for 1/15 to 1/22. The one bedroom would be 160 points. Has anyone stayed at the Embassy Suites and do they have any advise.

Now I have to set up my frequent flyer flights.

Thanks for the Help Dean.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites on Maui several years ago and enjoyed it. We had a two bedroom suite. I was afraid that our girls would not let us leave :)

My husband an I stayed there for 2 weeks. We had the ocean side suite. I think we were in 211. It was the most wonderful place on earth. Our friends were there also and got the ocian view room. (it overlooked the pool and if you turned your head you could see the ocean). The rooms are great and if you go to the hotels guest relation counter (not the one under the thatch roof) They will get you a table reserved for Bubba Gumps shrimp house and give you complimentary hordevors.

We had the perfect view of the sun rise and sun set every day. It was truley the heaven on earth they say it is. I will be back there in 2 more years. (our 20th anniversary)

We stayed there for our honeymoon 12 yrs ago. At the time it was an Embassy Suites 'hotel'. It was wonderful. Great location.

Wow, that is really great. We stayed in Wailea this past February and loved it. What part of Maui are the Embassy Suites located?

So did I (11/92). Liked the hotel, but they were burning the sugarcane field across the street and the stench was bad.

It's on Kaanapali Beach, which is on the west side of the island. Just north of Lahaina.

We also stayed there for our honeymoon in 1997. It was a wonderful resort. We had a corner suite on the 11th floor with a view of the ocean in one direction and the pool in the other direction. We could see the whales right from our balcony.

Glad to help and congratulations. We stayed there in 2002. A few caveat's. The kitchen more of an expanded mini kitchen. You will likely get a view of the Star Market across the street. They will upgrade your room usaully for a fee. The breakfast buffet is a good deal but gets monotonous. They do charge for parking if I remember correctly. If you take the tour, they are VERY high pressure and tell more lies than truths. We enjoyed it, I hope you do also.

Of course now I have a few more questions.

Dean - What is the Star Market?

all5of us -What time of the year were you able to see the whales?

If you could pick another island to visit which would you pick and where would you stay with 2 boys 2 yo and 5yo.

Thanks again for the help

We were there in mid February. I believe whale season goes from December through April.

I know that your questions were for Dean but I have some thoughts for you. My Aunt and Uncle hav a house on Kuai. They love the quiet of the island and stay there for 3 months a year. I have not been yet but on my next trip I will. My sisiter just returned in Febuary and she went on the Whale watch throug a company that is strickly non proffit. I think she said they were the whale watch foundation. It was 10.00 per person and after they spent the day watching the whales they took them to the turtle island.

The Star Market is a Grocery store in a strip Mall. If I reall correctlly, early Dec and mid to late April are very iffy for the Whales.

As for other Islands, it depends. If you've never been, I'd Say Oahu. If you've been there and done that, Kauai would be my first choice. A week on Maui and a week on Kauai was our last trip though we found ourselves wishing we had a couple or 3 days on Oahu in addition.
