We are over the buffet, sit down used to be nice when not everyone knew about it. On the wish it was very busy and chaotic. I’m thinking a new plan for next time is to eat on the pool deck, have never done this before on day 1. We usually time it so we are on the ship around 12:30 to 1:00pm.
Anyone have experience with this?
Are the tables going to be all taken by people hanging out waiting for rooms to open?
It was a long haul up from deck 4 to deck 10 on the stairs with our carryons last time. I’m thinking if we eat on deck 11 we just have to go down 1 flight of stairs.

Yes pool deck will be busy. By 12:30/1 most guests are onboard and eating lunch or waiting for rooms to be ready, as you say. Basically the only way to avoid lunch crowds is to be among the first onboard or wait and have a very late lunch around 2pm.

I guess I will stick with the sit down lunch in the MDR, as I like to be in the room at 2 until muster and waiting for my bags and getting settled.
Thanks for the replies.

MDR lunch on embarkation day is simply a walk in, be seated meal, right? No reservations or advance arrangements required? We plan to eat before we board, but if our plans change I think we'll want a sit-down lunch rather than Cabanas.

That is correct -- you just walk up and ask to be seated, the same way you can for the dining room(s) open for breakfast and lunch during the cruise.

Yes, thats it. They will ask for your room number and how many people in your party at the host stand and then bring you to a table. Ive done embarkation day lunch twice now, on The Magic in 2022 and in August on The Dream. The menu is the same on all ships as far as I know. On The Magic embarkation day lunch was in Rapunzel's and on The Dream it was Animators Palate. There is also a restaurant open just for Concierge passengers, but its also the same menu. On The Magic Concierge lunch was in Lumiere's and on The Dream Concierge lunch was in Royal Palace.
