So our wedding is five weeks from today, and our 30-day mark is this Friday, when we are contractually obligated to pay the full cost of the wedding. Despite the fact that we had our planning session on Oct. 31, we only received our Estimated Budget on FRIDAY. To make matters worse, our EM is on vacation all this week and can't even confirm in writing that she told us we could wait at least another week until having to pay the full cost. And apparently her old assistant is no longer with the company, and she couldn't even tell us the name of her new assistant.

Upon going through our budget this weekend, we noticed TONS of errors including... you're not going to believe this... my DF's LAST NAME was spelled wrong in 90% of the times it occurred! We are paying DFTW lots of $ for this wedding and they are supposed to handle things like this. We should be worrying about what kinds of food to offer, and what kind of flowers we want, not whether or not the groom's name is going to be spelled correctly on the marquee signs! :furious:

Sorry to vent... but this is ridiculous... if I were this incompetent at my job, I wouldn't have one anymore! Is it possible to get switched to a different EM at this point? I have actually heard good things about some of the others. I am not Bridezilla calling them every day but getting a correct budget more than a week before the due date isn't asking too much.

I think you should call DFTW and tell them your concerns. You seem to have every right to be upset to me. I mean the name wrong at this point? Thats ridiculous/

I have had a lot of problems, too! The date was even wrong on my budget! I can never get a hold of my planner and I just found out today she has a new assistant (this will be the fourth). We have gone over our budget a few times and things still haven't been corrected. :guilty:
So frustrating! I feel you pain!
I would definitly call and talk to someone- maybe your original sales manager.
At five weeks, you should nto have this stress! I am sure if you say you are not signing it until they get their act together, it will get things rolling!
I hope everything works out!

I just received a letter from DFTW's Director, Jeff Ralls thanking us for choosing them for our wedding. He says that if we ever had any compliments or concerns we could contact him. I don't know if you'd want to go this route or not to try to rectify your problems, but I'm sure it would get some things fixed ASAP.

Here's his email:

weddings.director@disney.com

I hope this helps and good luck with everything! :goodvibes

Thanks, I think I am going to e-mail him. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but we are really getting close.

They also messed up our Wedding Website... they put the registry stores up, then took them down, and then put the wrong date on!

On the plus side... the budget wasn't as astronomically high as we expected.

Honey .. lemme tell ya you're not alone! First we had the wedding planner from hell. She made me so angry, I wanted to cancel the whole thing, and I started hating Disney. I realized that she was the problem, not us and got rid of her. Then we were assigned Tim Blunk in September, we never really heard from him. A month later, in October he quit. We didn't hear from anyone at DFTW for another month. Then in November, I contacted our sales manager (the guy who got us through the contract part) and we were assigned a new planner, who is absolutely wonderful, just awesome. Our wedding is December 17, 2006. So from about Thanksgiving till now, is when we've had to do the bulk of our planning, including the payment part, in just a few weeks.

Before calling the director - try calling your sales manager. Ours has been really great and has been able to help when we've hit a snag.

I had big problems like this, and in the end spoke with Jeff Ralls, head of DFTW dept.
He was just lovely and sorted everything out for us.
